Before Commander He could finish speaking, Sister Bai asked, "What was the name of the person who died?"
“Hu Donghai,” Commander He said, and Sister Bai immediately opened the file folder to look at it. He only knew one Hu Donghai, and he had met him in Fengmen Village! However, the name Hu Donghai was quite common, and it was possible that he was not the Hu Donghai that Sister Bai knew.
Seeing Sister Bai opening the file folder, Brigade Commander He smiled and said, "We have used technical means to reconstruct his appearance to some extent. Although it may not be accurate, it is not far off."
Sister Bai pulled the documents out of the file folder. When she saw the photo pasted on top, her eyes narrowed involuntarily, and she thought to herself:
"Hu Donghai disappeared after entering Fengmen Village. How did he end up in Wang Ling's office? Is there any connection between them?"
After two seemingly unrelated things suddenly became connected, Sister Bai fell into deep thought!
Chapter 104 Looting the Corpse!
When Commander He saw that Sister Bai was staring at Hu Donghai's information in silence, he did not disturb her for the time being.
Su Mo, who was sitting next to him, couldn't help but lean over for a look. At first glance, he seemed somewhat familiar, and then Su Mo exclaimed, "Brother Bai, he... he's not from that night!"
“That’s right, he’s the one of the two we met in Fengmen Village that night. One of them is already dead, but we haven’t seen the other since we went in. His body doesn’t look like it’s been hidden for more than a few days, but it’s been treated in some special way so that it looks like it’s been there for a long time.”
Sister Bai explained the situation, but Commander He was somewhat confused and asked, "Master Lin, please explain clearly, did this person go to Fengmen Village with you?"
“It’s not exactly together, we arrived first and they came later. But why is his body hidden in Wang Ling’s office? Commander He, has his body been cremated?” Sister Bai asked. Commander He shook his head and said, “Not yet, but soon.”
"Come on, Su Mo, let's go to the funeral home with Commander He." Sister Bai called out to Su Mo, who was immediately overjoyed. If it were before, she wouldn't have gone to such a gloomy place as a funeral home even if her legs were broken! But now it's different; no matter what happens, Sister Bai will be there to protect her.
No wonder people say that men are supposed to stand tall and upright!
Of course, Sister Bai wouldn't go looking for trouble, but whether it was Hu Donghai or Wang Ling, she had encountered both of these situations, and she had to get to the bottom of it.
Commander He personally drove Sister Bai and Su Mo towards the funeral home. Although Jiang City wasn't a first-tier city, it still had a considerable population. With so many people, people died every day—either from illness or from natural disasters or man-made calamities.
Upon arriving at the funeral home, Su Mo encountered a group of mourners, with family members holding a freshly prepared urn containing ashes. Their heartbroken expressions brought tears to Su Mo's eyes.
Entering the morgue where bodies were kept, every morgue was the same. Not only was it cold, but it also exuded a sinister atmosphere. Commander He, a soldier's man, was naturally unfazed by the cold. He went straight to the cabinet containing Hu Donghai's body, pulled it open, and Sister Bai, seeing this, said:
"Commander He, could you please move his body out?"
"Huh?" Commander He was stunned. Sister Bai said, "Commander He, you're strong enough to not be able to lift a corpse, are you?"
Upon hearing this, Brigade Commander He rolled his eyes. It was only because of Sister Bai that he was allowed to do the work. If anyone else had dared to ask him to do the work, he would have pointed a gun at their head and said, "You fucking say another word and see what happens!"
Although he was extremely unwilling, Commander He did it anyway. After moving Hu Donghai's body out, Sister Bai squatted down in front of it and began to examine it. When Su Mo saw the corpse, whose skin had been peeled off, her stomach churned. She finally felt a little better after turning away from the sight.
Sister Bai watched for a while, but what made Commander He's mouth twitch was that Sister Bai actually reached out and touched the corpse. He originally wanted to dissuade her, but then he thought, "She's a master, her way of doing things is definitely different from normal people."
Bai Jie placed her hand on the corpse and silently closed her eyes. A minute passed, and Bai Jie didn't move. Two minutes passed, and Bai Jie still didn't move, as if she were in a meditative state. This made Su Mo and Brigade Commander He a little anxious, as they had no idea what Bai Jie was doing.
Five minutes finally passed before Sister Bai opened her eyes, picked up her hands, and said to Commander He, "Commander He, please carry it back."
Commander He stared blankly, mouth agape. Sister Bai asked, "Do you need my help?"
"No need!" Brigade Commander He was full of resentment; if he weren't a man, he would have looked more like a whiny woman. Perhaps blinded by anger, he didn't even check the number before pulling open a cabinet. Just as he was about to put the body back, he saw a corpse inside the cabinet with half its head flattened.
Commander He was so startled he almost jumped up. Sister Bai and Su Mo both looked at him in surprise. Commander He smiled awkwardly and said, "I got the wrong cabinet! Cough cough, brother, please don't mind. Rest in peace!"
After Commander He finished speaking, he opened the cabinet next to him and moved Hu Donghai's body back inside. Then, Commander He asked, "So what should we do now? Is there anything wrong with that body?"
"I'm still not sure if it's what I think. By the way, have you notified the deceased's family?" Sister Bai asked. Brigade Commander He nodded and said, "He has a younger brother who has already arrived."
