If Tongtian had obtained the "Kongtong Seal," he would have truly struck gold. Just for this, Tongtian's Jie Sect would have secured an eternal position in the spread of the Dao among humans. That explains why Tongtian was so surprised when Xuantian gave him the "Kongtong Seal."
Having obtained the "Kongtong Seal," Tongtian naturally said nothing more. He glanced back at the Four Sages, snorted coldly, and headed towards Biyou Palace.
Seeing that Tongtian had left, Xuantian turned to Laojun and the others and asked, "Are you all satisfied with Xuantian's arrangements?"
All the sages were somewhat displeased, especially Laozi. The Kongtong Seal should have belonged to another sect's magic weapon, but now it had been taken by Xuantian to do a favor, so Laozi was naturally unhappy. He snorted coldly and remained silent.
Seeing that the four sages remained silent, Xuan Tian sneered inwardly, then turned and led his disciples back to Penglai.
At this time, the Immortal Slaughtering Formation had been broken, and Tongtian had also left. However, Xuantian's unreasonable behavior made the atmosphere somewhat awkward. Seeing that the saints were all somewhat sullen, not as if they had won a battle, Yuanshi wanted to stir up the atmosphere and composed a poem to laugh at Tongtian. The poem read: "It is laughable that Tongtian's teachings are not clear. For a thousand years, he has been the leader of the sect, leading the masses astray. He relies on the evil party to smear the Immortal Sect and gathers heretical sects to run rampant in vain."
What is the point of the precious sword hanging in vain? The primordial spirit is wasted and has no name.
Those who do not understand the principle of following the right path will first suffer humiliation, yet still expect the universe to speak of reversal of fortune.
Lao Jun sneered inwardly upon hearing this, glanced coldly at Yuan Shi, and without waiting for the others, turned and walked back up onto the reed hut. The two from the Western Sect followed suit, and Yuan Shi awkwardly followed as well.
The four leaders sat down in the reed hut. Yuanshi first thanked the two Western Saints, saying, "Because of our disciples' transgressions, we have been fortunate to have your assistance in helping us survive this calamity. We are still able to express our gratitude!"
Laozi was in a bad mood and didn't want to stay any longer. He said, "The Tongtian Sect Leader has acted against Heaven, so naturally he will only lose and not win. You and I act in accordance with Heaven. Heaven rewards the good and punishes the wicked without error, just like a lamp casting a shadow. Now that this formation is broken, your tribulations are over, and you will all benefit. Jiang Shang, go and retrieve the pass; we will return to the mountain." All the disciples bid farewell to Jiang Ziya and followed the four sect leaders back to their respective mountains.
After bidding farewell to his master, Ziya returned to Sishui Pass to meet King Wu; all the generals came to see him. The marshal arrived at the marshal's residence and paid his respects to King Wu. The king said, "My lord, you have broken through the evil formation far away; I know there were many immortals with you. I dared not send anyone to inquire after you." Ziya thanked the king and replied, "I am deeply grateful for Your Majesty's grace and the might of Heaven. The sages of the three religions personally came and together we broke the Immortal-Slaying Formation and reached Jiepai Pass. Please, Your Majesty, depart tomorrow." King Wu ordered a banquet to be prepared to celebrate the victory. (The story continues.)
Fifty-eight and six soul flags, Dharma and precepts
Meanwhile, the Tongtian Sect Leader, having suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Laozi, Yuanshi Tianzun, and others, and now having lost the Four Swords of Zhuxian and the array diagram, had utterly lost face. How could he possibly face his disciples? He thought to himself, "I shall set up an altar at Zizhi Cliff and worship an evil banner called the 'Six Souls Banner.'" This banner has six tails, on which are written the names of six people: the Guide Daoist, the Zhunti Daoist, Laozi, Yuanshi Tianzun, King Wu, and Jiang Shang. He shall use talismans to seal the banner morning and evening, and on the day he finishes worshipping, he shall shake the banner to kill the six people.
Leaving aside the matter of Tongtian's plot to kill six people, let's talk about Xuantian. After returning to Penglai Island, he took the four Immortal-Slaying Swords and the array diagram and went into seclusion in the Capital Heaven Palace. The reason Xuantian left these things behind was actually for a great purpose. Of course, it wasn't for setting up some Immortal-Slaying Sword Array. This thing seems powerful, but it's actually unreliable. It's just an array, and it's still an inanimate object. In a real crisis, who would let you set up an array?
Now, after learning that Xiqi had broken through three passes, the Shang Dynasty sent Xu Gai with 650,000 troops to block Jiang Ziya. Xu Gai had long intended to surrender, but military orders were in place and there was no other way. After several battles, the morale of the Shang army was low. Suddenly, a soldier reported: "A group of people have come to see us."
Xu Gai, being somewhat sensible, knew that they were mostly cultivators and it wouldn't be appropriate to offend them, so he said, "Please come in."
Upon entering the mansion and reaching the front of the hall, the man bowed to Xu Gai and said, "General Xu, this humble Taoist bows."
Xu Gai smiled and said, "Greetings! What brings you here, Daoist?" The Daoist sighed and said, "General, you may not know, but I had a disciple named Peng Zun who died at the hands of Lei Zhenzi; I have come here to avenge him."
Xu Gai asked, "What is your esteemed surname and given name, Daoist?" The Daoist replied, "My surname is Fa, and my given name is Jie." Seeing that the Daoist had an air of otherworldly wisdom, Xu Gai quickly invited him to take a seat. Fa Jie, without any modesty, gladly accepted the seat.
Xu Gai then asked, "Jiang Ziya is a virtuous man from Kunlun. He has disciples from the Three Mountains and Five Peaks under his command. Although the Daoist has great magical power, I'm afraid he cannot defeat him."
Provoked, Fa Jie said, "General Xu, rest assured, I will capture Jiang Shang for you, so that it may be a merit for you."
Upon hearing this, Xu Gai smiled and said, "If that's the case, it would be an immense favor from you, Teacher." Then, remembering that it was time for a meal, he hurriedly asked, "Would you like to eat vegetarian or meat, Teacher?"
Fajie said, "I observe a vegetarian diet. I don't need anything." He remained silent all night.
The next day, Fa Jie, sword in hand, went straight to Zhou's camp, demanding a word from Jiang Ziya. A scout reported to the central army: "A monk requests a word from the Marshal." Ziya ordered his disciples to leave the camp and meet the monk. There were no soldiers opposite him, only a lone figure. What could be seen? A crimson gold headband, gleaming brilliantly; a white crane-patterned robe. Silk ribbons hung from water and fire, flames blazed from his head. He possessed unparalleled skill in the Five Escapes and Three Eliminations, his heart encompassing all things. From childhood, he had deeply rooted himself in the Great Dao, yet now he was destined for the mortal world. His name was not on the Investiture of the Gods, yet he wanted to gamble with Ziya.
Ya urged the four unseen beings to the front of the army to see Fajie, and bowed, saying, "Greetings, Daoist!"
Fa Jie also said, "Jiang Ziya, I have long admired your great name, and I have come here today to meet you."
Ya was puzzled. "Damn it, why would they want to know me?" he asked. "What is your surname and given name, Daoist?"
Fa Jie said, "I am a Qi cultivator from Penglai Island, surnamed Fa, named Jie." This Penglai is not the same as that Penglai. The Penglai Island that Fa Jie mentioned is a small island in the East Sea, not the Penglai Island in Xuan Tian's hands. It is called Little Penglai because of its beautiful scenery.
