Chapter 80 Is Lu Rang out of his mind?

He pulled Shang Wu's hand down and held it tightly.

His hands were ice cold.

Shang Wu pressed his hand into her palm, gently warming it.

"Shall I get you some hot water? You can sit here for a while."

She turned to leave, but Lu Rang pulled her back.

Caught off guard, Shang Wu fell onto Lu Rang's lap.

Lu Rang held her tightly with all his might, resting his head on her shoulder, as if he was too exhausted to support himself any longer.

Shang Wu patted his back, feeling a little uncomfortable being hugged like that.

"Let go of me first, I'll get you some water."

Lu Rang didn't react at all. After a while, he let go of her, stood up, and silently took out his phone to check the time.

"I'm fine. I've taken a few days off from the law firm. There's nothing at the company that I can help with, so it shouldn't interfere with your work."

Without even looking up, he said, "Go back. I'll go to work as usual tomorrow."

Shang Wu didn't leave; she just watched him.

She wanted to know why Lu Rang had been unusually hiding at home these past few days, making himself so weak and exhausted, almost like he was half-dead.

"Lu Rang, regardless of whether you consider me a true friend, at the very least we have a relationship based on mutual trust, right?"

Lu Rang frowned and looked at her: "What are you trying to say?"

Shang Wu walked over and said, "You can tell me anything. It's better to have someone to rely on than to lick your wounds on your own."

Lu Rang lowered his eyes and paused, a deep bloodstain still visible on his left cheek.

He suddenly smiled.

"It's really not a big deal."

Shang Wu waited quietly for him to continue.

Lu Rang casually remarked, "I just had a fight with my family."

"Fighting with your family? Why?"

Shang Wu had always had a good relationship with her family, so it was hard for her to imagine why she would fight with them.

"Is it that they're against you doing something? Or perhaps they heard you're investigating my family's case and are worried about the danger, so they don't want you to get too deeply involved?"

Shang Wu's hands tightened; she feared this outcome the most.

She didn't want to cause trouble for Lu Rang, but she needed his help.

"It has little to do with you. I just wanted to practice my skills, so I got into a fight with the man who gave birth to me. I got injured, and he wasn't much better off."

Lu Rang twitched his lips: "Many people are protecting him, but it's no use. In short, none of them are my match."

Shang Wu slowly pursed her lips, looking at him without saying a word.

Not hearing her voice, Lu Rang turned his head to look at her: "What, do you think I'm unreasonable and utterly wicked?"

"No."

Shang Wu denied his words without hesitation: "I was just wondering what kind of grievances you suffered at home to make you like this. You must have had a very hard time."

A hint of worry flickered in her eyes.

Lu Rang was stunned for a moment, then his heart suddenly started pounding wildly, and he even had trouble breathing.

He tried to remain calm: "You're the first person to ask me if I feel wronged or if I'm having a hard time after hearing about this."

Shang Wu was taken aback, and inexplicably felt a pang of tenderness.

Lu Rang suddenly asked, "Have you eaten?"

Shang Wu frowned, realizing he was deliberately avoiding the topic, and didn't say anything more.

Every family has its own troubles.

She couldn't just listen to one side of the story and conclude that Lu Rang was wrong to hit someone; perhaps there were some hidden circumstances she didn't know about.

Shang Wu followed Lu Rang downstairs and suddenly noticed an upside-down photo frame on the table.

She slowed her pace, and seeing that Lu Rang had already gone downstairs, she hesitated for two seconds before quickly walking to the table and picking up the photo frame.

She saw the photo inside the frame.

The photo shows two little boys of similar age who look almost identical.

They were all lying on the blanket, fiddling with their toys; they were about five or six years old.

Shang Wu was somewhat stunned.

Who are these two boys? They look somewhat similar to Lu Rang in their features.

Are they relatives?

As Shang Wu was thinking, Lu Rang's voice came from below.

"What would you like to eat? I'll order some food."

Shang Wu immediately put down the photo frame, restored it to its original position, and hurriedly left.

She feigned nonchalance: "Anything is fine."

Lu Rang nodded, ordered food on his phone, and began tidying up the milk cartons.

Shang Wu sat on the sofa, her gaze following him. She wanted to ask about the photo frame, but dared not say anything.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Shang Wu opened the door, only to bump into a man with an icy expression.

The moment she saw the man, she instantly thought of the man in black she had encountered at the elevator entrance when Lu Rang was allergic to alcohol and she was rushing to find Jiu Yang Dan.

Isn't that the person?

At the time, the man was glaring at her fiercely, holding a mysterious black wooden box in his hand.

He actually knows Lu Rang?

Shang Wu was filled with suspicion and asked, "Who are you?"
