Chapter 175 The Moon Breaks Through the Dark Clouds

As Yunxi emerged from Xiaoyun No. 1, a thin layer of mist covered the car windows. She slowly drove the car out, but just as she reached the corner, she felt as if she had hit something. She heard a muffled thud and her body lurched forward.

"Seriously? When did my driving skills get worse?"

Yunxi angrily pounded the steering wheel and got out of the car with a frown.

"When did this stone bench appear here? It wasn't here when I came..."

She went over and tried to push it, but the stone block didn't budge.

Just then, a black sedan pulled up. It was Xu Muyao. He parked the car and got out.

"What's wrong?"

Upon seeing him arrive, Yunxi paused slightly, then pointed to the front of the car.

Following the direction of her finger, the man's lips curved into a barely perceptible smile. "I'll help you open it."

Yunxi stared at his profile, hesitated for a moment, and after looking around to make sure no one else was there, she could only nod, "Okay, thank you."

Xu Muyao grinned roguishly, "Don't be so polite with me."

Once I sat in the driver's seat, I couldn't help but touch every surface my eyes scanned, feeling it over and over again. I could smell her scent in the car, a fragrance I missed dearly; just smelling her scent made every cell in my body feel alive with excitement.

The car seemed exceptionally agile in his hands, and he easily drove it out in just a few moments.

But the person in the car did not get off for a long time; their deep and resolute eyes were slightly lowered, and it was unclear what they were thinking.

"Knock knock knock..." Seeing that he was sitting there without moving, Yunxi knocked on the car window in confusion.

Realizing what was happening, Xu Muyao glanced to his left, gave a slight smile, and got out of the car.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"I should be asking you that. What are you doing sitting in my car, spacing out? I called you but you didn't respond."

Xu Muyao lowered his eyes and pursed his lips. "It's nothing."

It was that little gesture of pursing his lips that captivated her back then, so much so that whenever she saw anyone else making that gesture, she would involuntarily think of him.

"What are you doing here? Don't tell me you just happened to be passing by?" She squinted at him.

"If I said I've been following you all along, would you believe me?" He raised an eyebrow, a half-smile on his face.

"Come on, it's inappropriate for a married man like you to make jokes like that." Yunxi glared at him fiercely.

Xu Muyao stood frozen in place, nodding resignedly, his heart filled with bitter longing. He stared at her face, desperately trying to suppress the urge to hug her.

Yunxi looked radiant, her face smooth and fair with a rosy glow. Her almond-shaped eyes were as black as ink, and she looked at people with dissatisfaction, appearing both pitiful and stubborn, which made people feel affection for her.

“Rong Youze is a very good person, you must cherish your happiness,” he suddenly blurted out.

"You don't need to say it."

When Yunxi faces him now, she unconsciously shows a prickly side, perhaps because she harbors resentment.

Rong Youze is a very, very good person, and she certainly knows that in front of him, she can be herself without any reservations.

When she was with Xu Muyao, she would subconsciously restrain her spoiled nature and try her best to appear well-behaved and sensible. She was indifferent to many things that did not violate her principles. Therefore, he used to say that although she was a young lady from a wealthy family, she had no airs of arrogance.

Only in front of Rong Youze could she fully unleash her true nature, refusing to compromise on anything she didn't like.

When her younger brother was mentioned, Yunxi's eyes softened, and a smile quietly appeared on her lips without her even realizing it.

That smile was enough to sting the eyes of the man before her.

"Alright, it's getting late, let's go back quickly." Xu Muyao turned around first and waved his hand with his back to her.

Watching his retreating figure, Yunxi smiled with relief and turned to get into the car without hesitation.

The black Cullinan gleamed brightly in the darkness, quickly disappearing from sight after turning onto the main road.

Xu Muyao stood by the car door, looking lost and dejected. His hands hung limply at his sides, and he looked like a little dog abandoned by its owner, listless and lifeless.

He came today because he wanted to see her again; he was afraid that after today, he would never see her again…

Two days ago, he accepted Rong Youze's suggestion to go abroad for treatment. He wanted to give himself a chance. He was only thirty-one years old. He hadn't lived enough yet. He wanted to see the magnificent landscape of his motherland again.

If fate were to grant him a second chance at life, he would want to live the rest of his days for himself. Even if he failed, it would be his destiny, and he would have no regrets. With his parents healthy, his siblings by his side, and his beloved having found happiness, he had no worries whatsoever.

He thought that the good deeds he had accumulated in the first half of his life would be blessed by Heaven.

Looking up at the dark night sky, I saw that the moon was obscured by dark clouds, and the starlight was hidden in the shadows.

At this moment, the sky, which was originally as dark as ink, was suddenly illuminated by the night wind, and the moon broke through the dark clouds, its clear light filling the vast sky.

The bright moonlight poured down, instantly illuminating his little corner of the world.

...

Back at Courtyard No. 1, I pushed open the door again and saw that the wall lamp in the entryway was still on.

It wasn't that Lin Yue forgot to turn it off; rather, she deliberately left it on. She was afraid of facing the empty and cold home alone, so she left a warm light on, as if he were home.

The warm yellow light, in this quiet night, always exudes warmth, like a spring breeze, soothing the soul.

Song Yunzheng naturally squatted down to help her change her shoes, but just as he stood up, he heard someone's stomach make a loud "groaning" protest...

Lin Yue clutched her stomach and smiled sheepishly, "I didn't have dinner..."

Upon hearing this, Song Yunzheng frowned and looked at her, as if he had a thousand words to say, but hesitated to speak. In the end, he said nothing and turned to enter the kitchen.

Seeing this, Lin Yue immediately turned into a little shadow, following him into the kitchen and lingering in front of him. When she saw him washing vegetables, she couldn't wait to roll up her sleeves and offer to help; when she saw him chopping vegetables, she rubbed her hands together eagerly, quickly stepped forward, and volunteered, shouting, "Let me do it, let me do it..."

Before Song Yunzheng could react, the cleaver in his hand had already been snatched away. The next moment, she began to chop with practiced ease. Her knife skills had indeed improved somewhat compared to the past, and were quite presentable.

Lin Yue noticed his piercing gaze and assumed he was amazed by her progress. She couldn't help but raise her head, playfully raise her eyebrows at him, and look smug on the face.

A smile flickered in his eyes, but the thought of her telling everyone they were divorced and going on blind dates made him quickly turn his head away, pretending to be busy with other things.

The silence lasted only a moment, then a scream suddenly rang out, "Ah—"

Song Yunzheng's heart jumped into his throat. He turned around in a panic and saw Lin Yue clutching her left index finger in pain.

"What happened? Did you cut your hand?"

"Ouch...it hurts..."

Song Yunzheng's expression changed drastically, and without saying a word, he grabbed her hand and prepared to leave.

The next moment, Lin Yue's face, which had been twisted in a frown, immediately turned into a smiling one. She stretched out her left hand and waved it in front of him, "Just kidding."

Their eyes met, and after a few seconds of silence, Song Yunzheng glared at her angrily, turned around, and continued working without saying a word.
