Chapter 189 Betrayal in the Mist

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside.

"Mr. Lu, they're here!" Brother Rat's voice came from the doorway, tinged with fear.

Lu Zhaoming's expression changed, and he immediately drew the gun from his waist.

"Everyone, prepare for battle!" he shouted.

The abandoned factory was silent at night, with only faint rumbling sounds coming from afar, proving that the danger had not gone away.

Lu Zhaoming sat alone on a pile of ruins in the corner of the factory, his brows furrowed.

The events of the day made him feel very uneasy.

He knew that Liu Feng's matter was definitely not that simple.

In order to find out the truth, Lu Zhaoming decided to use the time-delay function of the "Doomsday Judgment System" to secretly investigate Liu Feng's actions.

He activated the system and slowed down the flow of time by ten times.

In his eyes, everything around him slowed down, as if he had entered slow motion mode.

He quietly observed Liu Feng and found that he was lying on the ground, motionless, as if he had fallen asleep.

"Could it be that I guessed wrong?" Lu Zhaoming wondered.

But he did not let his guard down and continued to observe.

Time passed second by second, and at midnight, Liu Feng suddenly opened his eyes.

He slowly sat up, looked around, and after confirming that no one was paying attention to him, he quietly left the camp.

Upon seeing this, Lu Zhaoming immediately got up and followed.

He followed Liu Feng cautiously, passing through ruins, and finally arrived at a secluded corner.

There, he saw a dark figure standing in the darkness, waiting for Liu Feng to arrive.

Liu Feng walked up to the shadowy figure, whispered a few words, and then took something out of his pocket and handed it to the figure.

Because of the distance, Lu Zhaoming could not hear what they were saying, nor could he see the appearance of the dark figure.

But he was certain that Liu Feng was making some kind of secret deal with this shadowy figure.

After the transaction was completed, Liu Feng turned and left. The shadowy figure stood there, watching him go.

Lu Zhaoming did not act rashly, but continued to observe the shadowy figure.

He wanted to know who this shadowy figure was and what their relationship was with Liu Feng.

However, the shadowy figure remained vigilant, standing in the darkness without making any move.

Lu Zhaoming waited for a full half hour before the dark figure finally left.

He immediately followed, wanting to find out the identity of the figure in black.

However, the shadowy figure was extremely fast and very adept at hiding.

Lu Zhaoming struggled mightily to keep up with him.

Finally, the shadowy figure entered an abandoned building.

Lu Zhaoming followed him inside.

However, as soon as he stepped into the building, he felt a strong sense of crisis.

He immediately stopped and tried to leave the building.

However, it was too late.

A dark figure suddenly rushed out of the darkness and pounced on him.

Lu Zhaoming quickly dodged, but was still grazed on the shoulder by the dark figure.

He felt a sharp pain, lost his balance, and fell backward.

The shadowy figure, emboldened by its advantage, pounced on him again.

Lu Zhaoming quickly got up from the ground, wanting to fight back.

However, the shadowy figure was too fast for him to catch a glimpse of.

At this critical moment, Lu Zhaoming suddenly activated the analysis function of the "Doomsday Judgment System".

The system immediately began analyzing the shadowy figure's identity and abilities.

The analysis results came out quickly.

"The target is carrying a psychoactive device and may have been controlled."

Lu Zhaoming was startled when he saw the analysis results.

He finally understood why Liu Feng was behaving so strangely. It turned out he had been controlled all along!

He quickly activated a detection device in the system to perform analysis and detection.

The next morning, Liu Feng approached Lu Zhaoming and offered to lead the way to a safe area, saying he was very familiar with the terrain.

Lu Zhaoming outwardly agreed, but inwardly he became even more wary.

He quietly signaled to Brother Mouse to lead his men to scout along another route.

Sure enough, not long after, Brother Mouse brought back news that hidden traps and ambush points had been discovered ahead.

Lu Zhaoming sneered inwardly; it seemed everything was going according to his plan.

He stopped and turned to look at Liu Feng, his eyes sharp as knives: "Brother, I know you're being controlled."

Liu Feng's expression changed, and he wanted to explain, but Lu Zhaoming raised his hand to stop him.

“I know you have no choice in this situation, but you must believe me, I will save you.” Lu Zhaoming’s tone was firm, as if carrying an inexplicable power.

He paused, then continued, "I won't blame you, because I know you're a victim too."

After saying that, Lu Zhaoming stopped talking and just quietly looked at Liu Feng.

He knew that the most important thing now was to give Liu Feng time to make his own choice.

The air seemed to freeze, and all around was silent, except for the faint sound of a breeze blowing through the ruins.

The frozen air seemed to be pierced by Liu Feng's suppressed sobs.

He could no longer maintain his forced tough-guy facade, and with a "thud," his knees slammed hard onto the ground covered in gravel and dust, kicking up a small cloud of choking ash.

This guy, a tall man over 1.8 meters, looked like a child who had made a mistake, his head buried deep in his chest, his shoulders shaking uncontrollably.

“Zhaoming…brother…I’m so sorry…” Broken sobs escaped his throat, filled with despair and regret. “I…I’m not human! But I…I just couldn’t control myself!” Tears mixed with snot smeared his face, dripping onto the dry ground and spreading into dark spots.
