Chapter 32: Dinner

Chapter 30: Dinner

Late at night in Igwinter, the sky was covered with dark clouds and the moonlight was gradually dimming.

In a hidden corner of Igwinter, in a gorgeously decorated but dimly lit room, a banquet was taking place.

A strong smell of blood permeated the house. On top of the luxurious dark red carpet with ridge patterns stood a long table covered with a white tablecloth. On the table were exquisite tableware and candlesticks. The red candles on the candlesticks were burning, illuminating the piles of broken flesh and blood among the tableware.

On both sides of the dining table, there were four figures sitting. All of them were men, dressed in decent clothes, like gentlemen. They used knives and forks in their hands to eat the meat on the plate like gentlemen.

䀴On the main seat at the head of the dining table, there was an empty high-back chair, 䀴but no one was sitting on the high-back chair at this moment.

"Gentlemen, how have you all investigated Edrick's case?" A middle-aged man with a thin face, gloomy eyes, neatly combed brown-black hair, and a moustache who was sitting closest to the high-back chair wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, glanced around at the dining tables and said.

"No harvest..." The one who responded was a young man who was cutting a piece of meat slowly and carelessly.

"We have used all our strength but to no avail. We haven't found any trace of that guy since that day." The one who responded was a bald middle-aged man of medium build. He was Burton, the owner of No. 22 Elm West Lane.

"There is no such person as Edric in this city. My people have searched all the way down the Iron River but have not found anyone who has come ashore. That guy has either drowned or left the city... or..."

An old man with disheveled clothes, one big eye and one small eye, slightly hunched over, with the table in front of him covered in blood, looked at Burton across the table and said with a hint of sarcasm.

"Either Burton's intelligence was wrong, or his minions mistook the wrong person, causing us to work in vain these days!"

"What are you talking about, Ke Chengfu? Are you questioning my intelligence?"

Hearing the words of the old man named Ke Chengfu, Burton suddenly became angry. He looked at the old man in front of him and said sternly.

"Hey... so what if I have doubts? If it was really that Edric who betrayed Albert in Volkan, he should have run away long ago. How dare he come to Igwinter and blatantly sell our things under our noses? Who gave him the courage to come here and openly provoke us? Where did he get the capital and confidence? So I think your information is wrong!"

"You..." Burton couldn't help but get anxious after hearing what Ke Chengfu said. Then he turned his gaze to the man who was closest to the seat at the table.

"Buck... why don't we just use divination to find out the location of Edric? We can't find him with ordinary means!"

Listening to Burton's words, the mustache-wearing man named Buck took a sip of the "red wine", then turned his head and looked at Burton who spoke calmly.

"The divination opportunity that the instructor left behind is only once, so I cherish it very much. Unless it is a major safety issue that affects the overall safety of the club, I will not use divination."

"But... Albert is dead..."

"It's the same even if he died. I said now is not the right time, and it is not the right time... The instructor is preparing for a promotion and has no time to manage the club. According to his instructions, I have the final say here now."

Buck looked at Burton sternly. After hearing what Buck said, Burton swallowed and said nothing more.

After taking a quick look at the scene, Buck continued speaking.

"Keep paying attention to Edric's situation, but since it may be due to a mistake in the intelligence, there is no need to put too much energy into it. We have other things to deal with next."

Buck paused for a moment, waiting for everyone else to focus their attention on him, and then he continued.

"According to the new intelligence, the captain of the Security Bureau's third team, Gregos's sister, has been killed by Igwinter. Although the mission we assigned to Edric failed due to his possible betrayal, this does not mean that our original plan will be terminated..."

"Buck... do you mean to say that we should continue to attack Gregos' sister?"

Narrowing his eyes slightly, Ke Chengfu looked at Buck and said, and Buck nodded.

"Gregos's talent is obvious to all of you. He became an apprentice 'Shadowless' just two days after entering the Secret Realm. His extraordinary strength has caused us a lot of trouble. If we can get rid of him... at least he will tempt us... living in seclusion in Igwinter will greatly reduce the pressure on us."

Listening to Buck's words, Burton nodded.

"Well... compared to other captains of the Security Bureau, Greg is the youngest, least alert, and least experienced, so he is the first one to take action. As long as we can control his only sister and use her to get close to Gregoros, then the fastest knife in James's hand will be in our hands...

"So Buck, what's the situation with his sister now?"

Buck answered slowly after taking another sip of his "red wine".

"According to intelligence, the morning before yesterday, Gregory sent his sister to St. Amanda's School."

"Saint Amanda? You don't have to take action in there..." Listening to Buck's words, Ke Chengfu said with a frown, and Buck also nodded.

"Yes, so we have to do it outside the school. I'm already making arrangements. Although it's a bit risky, I've decided to have our people do it in person this time."

As he spoke, Buck picked up another piece of meat with a fork and put it in his mouth. He chewed the fresh meat without any cooking, and dark red blood flowed from the corner of his mouth.

A sunny morning, in the western suburbs of Igwent, on the banks of the Iron River, at St. Amanda's School.

In a spacious room, bright sunlight poured in from the open windows, illuminating a low table, on which were placed several geometric plasters of various shapes. The plasters showed obvious black, white and gray light and dark shadow relationships under the sunlight. Around the low table, there was a circle of students holding drawing boards and drawing on the plaster bodies. Each student was concentrating on observing the shadow relationship of the plaster bodies, striving to restore them on their own drawing paper.

One of them was Dorothy.

"Fuck... I never thought that art is a compulsory course in this school... This is the first time I've seen such a middle school..."

Complaining in her heart, Dorothy, sitting in front of the drawing board, looked again at the geometric shape she had drawn. The more she looked at it, the more uncomfortable it seemed to her.

"Ahhh... How can something like art, which requires obvious talent, be a compulsory course... This is really hard to handle..."

Dorothy continued to erase the geometric shapes she had just shaped and prepare them for painting.

"Damn it, if I keep drawing like this, there's no end to it... I won't even be able to hand in my homework after class..."

At this time, one of the male students accidentally knocked over the low table while trying to pick up an eraser, causing the geometric plaster on it to fall to the ground. The noise when it landed was so loud that it scared the people around.

'Nice little girl! I'm really annoyed by the way these plaster sculptures are arranged. They're knocking over the sculptures...'

Seeing this scene, Dorothy couldn't help but feel happy, but she also bent down to pick up the scattered plaster on the ground.

Then she picked up one of the cubes and frowned slightly.

"It's heavy... it's icy... the texture, the weight... it doesn't feel like plaster at all..."

Then, Dorothy carefully stroked the cube in her hand...

"This feels more like... stone? Are these geometric shapes all stone? Shouldn't plaster be used to create still life? What's going on?"
