Chapter 33: Ambush (1/2)

Chapter 33 Ambush

In the art room, Dorothy was holding the stone cube in her hand and felt a little puzzled. She had learned a little about art before, and logically speaking, shouldn't still life sketches be made of plaster? She had never seen stone before.

After placing the stone cube in her hand back on the low table, Dorothy took the opportunity to come to the cabinet at the edge of the classroom while the teacher was rearranging the still lifes, looked at the lifelike plaster head on the cabinet, and then reached out to touch it.

"This figure is also made of stone... but it's coated with a layer of white powder, like plaster. Is this school so extravagant? They use stone sculptures to do still life sketches... and there are so many of them..."

Looking at the row of various lifelike stone sculptures of human figures on the cabinet, he couldn't help but feel confused.

Plaster statues are very different from stone statues. Plaster statues only require a mold, and then plaster is poured into the mold. After the plaster dries, it can be made. As long as the mold is there, it can be mass-produced with very low cost.

Stone statues are different. They need to be slowly carved out of a whole stone by hand. Both the time and energy consumed are much longer than those of plaster statues. Therefore, generally speaking, when it comes to art still life sketches, whether it is geometry or human heads, plaster statues are used. A carefully carved stone statue can be like a local punctuation mark on the street.

This school is really amazing. Not only do they use the stone statues in the art room as still lifes for students to sketch, but there are so many of them. More importantly, these stone head statues are all carved to look lifelike, with a very high degree of detail. Moreover, each one is unique and you can tell at a glance that they are the work of a master.

Thinking of this, Dorothy recalled that there seemed to be quite a lot of stone statues of various types placed in many other places in this school. Is there any stone carving master in this school?

For a moment, Dorothy couldn't help but feel a little confused. With such doubts, Dorothy insisted on finishing the painting and waiting until the get out of class was over. She planned to find someone to ask, but as for who to ask, she already had a candidate in mind.

During lunch break, the increasingly hot sun was scorching the campus. In a corridor somewhere in the school, an old school worker was wiping a stone bust standing on the roadside.

The school worker looked serious and wiped the stone statue very carefully. He did not miss any detail on the stone statue, including the cochlea, under the nose, under the eyebrows, inside the collar, and even under the eyelids. He wiped them all carefully and cleanly.

Just as the old school worker was working seriously, a voice came from beside him.

"Mr. Dean, I have something I would like to ask you."

Hearing this voice, the old school worker was suddenly stunned, then turned his head, and then he saw a white-haired girl standing beside him, wearing a black female school uniform and with a polite smile, and then a hint of doubt emerged in his expression.

"Excuse me, young lady, who are you..."

"Dorothy Meschos, have you forgotten? We met before, just recently, on my first day of school." Dorothy reminded with a smile, and the old school worker named Dean nodded.

"Oh, now I remember. Thank you two so much at that time. But what's the matter now, Miss Meshhos?" Dean smiled slightly, and then spoke to Dorothy in a slightly old voice, and Dorothy answered immediately.

"It's like this, Mr. Dean. I found that there are so many exquisite statues in the school, especially in the art room. There are so many of them that you won't see anywhere else. Do you know where these statues come from?" Dorothy said curiously to the old school worker in front of her. She had already found out his name before and knew that he had worked in this school for many years.

"Hehe...are you interested in those statues? No wonder. Other places that cultivate art don't have such exquisite still lifes. After all, these are not defective products made from plaster or molds. Each one is extremely detailed and lifelike. They can be regarded as treasures of any store if given to them."

Listening to Dorothy's words, Dean showed an obvious smile on his face, and then continued speaking.

"These statues were all carved by Mr. Aldridge, the principal of this school. He is a master in sculpture. He likes to display his sculptures in the school for students to sketch and cultivate an artistic atmosphere for the entire school. He also hopes that this school will produce more artists one day..."

"The principal of this school... Aldridge?"

Looking at the smiling old janitor in front of her, Dorothy was lost in thought.

In the afternoon, in a classroom, a religious teacher with gray hair and glasses was reading out the teachings of the Radiant Church passionately at the podium, and the students below were praying and taking notes. At the second to last table in the back row of the classroom, Dorothy was propping up her head, looking at the scene outside the window with boredom.

He could see Dean, an old school worker, running around flexibly with a pair of large scissors in the garden downstairs, carefully pruning the plants in the garden. The garden plants he cut were neat and beautiful, and very ornamental.

"I need to check a little bit... I'm a bit bored..."

As she was thinking, Dorothy glanced at the religion teacher on the podium, took out a box from her cross-body bag, opened it, put on the corpse doll ring inside, and then a big gecko crawled out of Dorothy's pocket.

Wearing the corpse ring, Dorothy controlled the gecko to quietly crawl out of the classroom and crawl across the entire campus, and Dorothy's senses were also extended through it.

The sun gradually sets and the day passes quickly.

It was dusk, and it was time for St. Amanda's School to be over. For Dorothy, it was finally time to go home after a torturous day.

Of course, Dorothy can go home after school, which does not mean that St. Amanda's School is a day school. On the contrary, it is a full-boarding school. The reason Dorothy can go home is because she is a girl.
