Chapter 34 Gunfire

Chapter 34 Gunfire

The sun sets in the west and night approaches.

As night slowly fell, Igwinter gradually lit up its lights and began its bustling night time. However, in the suburbs far away from the city, darkness still came as expected.

It was still dark, and darkness enveloped the wilderness in the western suburbs of Igwynt. On a suburban road, three horse-drawn carriages were driving one after another, and the drivers drove the horses forward. The surrounding environment was silent, with only the sound of horses' hooves and wheels.

There was an adult man in a windbreaker sitting in each of the two carriages in front and behind. They were all looking at the two carriages in the middle. In the middle carriage, Dorothy was sitting quietly. She was reading a thick book seriously under the light of the gas lamp in the carriage. At least on the surface, she looked very serious...

"It turns out... it's not the road to the city... and it's getting farther and farther away..."

In the carriage, Dorothy, who pretended to read a book, was very aware that she was in danger. But now she also knew that she could not show this, because doing so would only provoke the enemy and lose the initiative.

"The one in front... the one behind, has been traveling with this car since the beginning and has never left. They are basically accomplices. They took me away in this way, and they didn't want to cause a big commotion..."

Dorothy analyzed the situation in her mind while turning the pages of the book in her hand. There was no trace of emotion on her face. In the eyes of those coachmen, she seemed to be unaware that she had been kidnapped.

"This is the way the Red Communion is targeting me. They haven't given up on me yet. And they don't know where they got the information that I came to Igwinter, and even knew that I entered St. Amanda's School, so they launched another action?"

"Heh... If that's true, then their intelligence network is really well developed..."

With a sneer in her heart, Dorothy turned the page again and continued reading by turning on the light.

"I think I'm being led to their base now. I don't know what their purpose is, but I can't let them lead me there. Although I made some arrangements at the school before, there's no response so far. It looks like I can only rely on myself this time..."

"We can't go any further. If we run into our companions, the enemies will become more numerous and more difficult to deal with. We have no choice but to act now..."

"There are two cars, one driver and one passenger each. Together with the driver of my car, there are five of them in total. I'm afraid they all have guns. It's not easy to deal with them. We must strike first..."

As she was thinking, Dorothy turned a page, and what appeared behind it was not tons of text, but a revolver lying quietly.

The thick book in Dorothy's hand was intact except for the first few pages. Only the edges of the remaining pages were left. The middle was hollowed out to form a paper groove. In this groove, Dorothy placed a pistol. Yes, it was the revolver that Dorothy got from Edrick when she just traveled through time.

Knowing that she was being targeted by the cult, Dorothy always carried the key items with her, even when she went to school.

"It's exciting to bring a gun to class... but I'm going to need it right now."

As she thought about it, Dorothy took out her pistol, clenched it with both hands, pointed it upward and forward through the front window of the carriage, and aimed at the driver who was driving with his back to her.

Then, after taking a deep breath, he pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

Accompanied by a loud gunshot, the bullet shot out of the muzzle in the flames, shattering the glass and shooting straight into the back of the driver's head, piercing his skull. Because the distance was very close, Dorothy easily shot him in the head.

The violent gunshot not only shocked the drivers of the two carriages in front and behind, but also shocked the horses. The horse in the carriage Dorothy was riding in instantly lost control. At this moment, Dorothy instantly activated the corpse ring and stole the corpse of the driver who was about to be thrown off the carriage.

Under the nourishment of the spiritual power of the "cup", the driver who was shot in the head began to move. He grasped the handrail beside him with an expressionless face and sat firmly on the carriage. Then he pulled the reins tightly with one hand, trying to control the out-of-control horse, but to little avail.

'Oops... I can't drive...'

Seeing this, Dorothy, who was hiding in the carriage, thought badly that although she could control the puppet, the puppet certainly couldn't do what she couldn't do, even if he was a coachman in his previous life.

Faced with this situation, Dorothy was quick-witted and suddenly came up with a solution.

Dorothy controlled the driver in front of the carriage, pulled out her own revolver from his waist, and then asked the driver to point the gun at the out-of-control horse in front, and fired three shots at the horse's head at close range.

Then, with a whine, the shot horse lost consciousness and was about to fall to the ground. At this moment, Dorothy's corpse ring was activated again, infusing the lifeless horse with the spirituality of the "cup". Driven by the "cup", the horse's limbs and bones started to function again without the control of the brain. Its strong hooves stepped on the ground to stabilize its body that was about to fall. Then, it completely followed Dorothy's orders, turned around and drove the carriage towards the destination, passing a car behind... Dorothy thought that since she couldn't drive, she might as well turn the horse into a corpse...

"What's wrong with you! Thomas?!" What happened!

"Come on Thomas! Where are you going!?"

Seeing their companions' carriage suddenly turn around and run in the opposite direction after a few unexpected gunshots, the drivers on the other two carriages couldn't help but shout loudly. When they saw that the other party didn't respond, they also pulled the reins and chased after the carriage in front.

In this way, Dorothy used the corpse ring to control the coachman and horses of her own carriage to run in front, and there were other carriages chasing behind. Thus began a carriage chase in the dark countryside.

Looking at the vehicle in front of them moving forward, the skylights on the roofs of the two cars behind were opened, and two passengers stood up. They pulled out pistols from their waists, pointed them at the high-speed carriage in front, and shouted.

"Stop Thomas! If you don't we will shoot!"

It was obvious that their warnings received no response. Seeing that their warnings were ineffective, the two people who got out of the car window directly pulled the trigger, aimed at the vehicle in front and fired bullets.

Due to the shaking of the car body and the movement of the target, the bullets were not easy to hit, but one bullet still hit the car, and the bullet shot at the car almost whizzed past Dorothy's ear.

"Fuck...I can't stay in the carriage..."

As she was thinking, Dorothy wrapped her hands with her sleeves, and then took the thick book in her hand and smashed it hard against the front glass of the carriage. The glass that had been pierced by bullets was easily smashed. Then Dorothy wrapped her hands with her sleeves and lay down on the driver's seat from the front window, which was a little safer than inside the carriage.

Afterwards, Dorothy manipulated the driver named Thomas, holding her pistol and crawling backwards from the driver's seat to the roof of the carriage. She held the raised decoration on the roof with one hand to stabilize her body, and fired back at the pursuing car behind with the other hand.

Suddenly, gunshots rang out on the dim road, and the car chase scene officially turned into a car chase and gunfight scene.
