Chapter 2 A Lang
The moment he took the basket, Ji Zheng discovered that this seemingly small basket was actually very heavy.
He weighed it and it weighed at least four or five kilograms.
The two of them walked out of the house in silence.
The village where Ji Zheng lives is called Shiqiang Village. It is a relatively large village divided into the upper village and the lower village.
There are three to four hundred households in the two villages together. The lower village is richer than the upper village and its population is half that of the upper village.
Ji Zheng's family belongs to the lower village, while Ji He'an's family belongs to the upper village.
Ji Zheng's family is the poorest in the village, and he has many children.
Ji Zheng is the third child, and he has a younger brother, Ji Yuan, who is studying in the town. This is why Ji Zheng's family is poor, as all the money is used to support Ji Yuan's schooling.
I have a younger sister, Ji Rou, who got married last year to a butcher in the next village and is living a pretty good life.
The remaining two brothers are the older ones. The older one, Ji Feng, has already married and has a child.
The second one, Ji Cheng, also got married two years ago and has no children yet.
A few years ago, the family was not that poor, so his two brothers married girls. Later, Ji Zheng's mother, Song Su, fell seriously ill, and the family savings were gone.
Of course, maybe it has something to do with Ji Zheng’s own personality. As the saying goes, sensible children get no candy. He is like this. He doesn’t like to talk and is always depressed.
To use the words in the countryside, you can't get anything out of a person even if you hit him with three sticks. To put it nicely, he is honest; to put it bluntly, he is cowardly.
Ji Zheng's family lives in the south of the village, and his land happens to be in the north of the village, so he met many people from the village along the way.
Although Ji He'an has been married for almost a year, he is not good at socializing, so he still doesn't know most of the people in the village. Every time he meets someone, he lowers his head and pretends not to see them.
Fortunately, those people did not greet Ji Hean, most of them talked to Ji Zheng.
Ji Zheng has the original owner's memories, and the original owner's personality was dull and taciturn, so most of those people just said hello to him.
After walking for more than an hour, we finally reached the ground.
This place is probably located relatively northward, so it is all dry land and there are very few paddy fields.
From a distance, Ji Zheng saw the original owner's family working hard in the fields. Of course, there were other people's fields nearby, and everyone there was also bending over to work.
Now is the spring plowing season, and every household is busy sowing. Some wealthier families have oxen to plow the fields, which makes the job much easier.
But most of them are like Ji Zheng's family, which needs to rely on manual turning of the soil.
As he got closer, Ji Zheng saw that there were also many families sitting together in a cool place eating lunch.
After walking through the small path and bypassing other people's fields that had already been planted, the two finally arrived at their own land.
Ji Zheng followed his memory and walked to a big tree and put down the basket in his hand. Ji Hean walked straight to the other side of the field to call people to come for dinner.
Looking at the clothes, water, and farm tools under the tree, and the green mountains and white clouds in the distance, Ji Zheng felt like he was dreaming.
After a while, a child came running over. The child was covered in mud and his face was dirty. He looked no more than five or six years old.
Ji Zheng thought that he should be Ji Feng's child, that is, his nephew Ji Hui.
"Uncle San! Why are you here?"
As soon as Ji Hui ran over, he rushed into Ji Zheng's arms, his eyes were crooked and he spoke in a babyish voice, but it was obvious that he liked Ji Zheng very much.
Ji Zheng didn't dislike children. He hugged Ji Hui and pinched his chubby cheeks. He smiled and said, "Let me help. Otherwise, what will happen if our little Hui gets tired?"
Ji Hui was obviously happier when he heard this. He twisted in Ji Zheng's arms and said in a baby voice, "Third Uncle is so nice."
While they were talking, other people came over one after another.
The first to arrive was Ji Feng’s wife, Song Meilan, who is also Ji Zheng’s sister-in-law.
"Why are you here, third brother? Why don't you stay at home and rest more?" Song Meilan said with concern, walked to a tree nearby, found a place to sit, and took a sip of the water beside her.
"It's nothing now. I thought it was the busy farming season and I was afraid you wouldn't be able to handle it, so I came to help." Ji Zheng replied.
Song Meilan nodded and stopped talking. When Ji Hui saw his mother coming, he came out of Ji Zheng's arms and ran into Song Meilan's arms.
After a while, Ji Cheng and his wife Chang Xiu also came over, and they seemed to be on good terms.
When they saw Ji Zheng, they were both surprised for a moment.
"Why are you here? Are you feeling better? Are you feeling no pain anymore?" Ji Cheng asked in rapid succession.
Ji Zheng had never experienced this kind of concern in his life, and he was a little uncomfortable for a while.
"It's okay, everything is fine. I was just worried that you guys wouldn't be able to handle it." Ji Zheng replied.
"Okay." Ji Cheng replied.
We are all farmers, and money is not that valuable. Everyone has been injured, and as long as they are not dead or disabled, it is a small matter in their eyes.
Ji Cheng greeted Song Meilan, then took his wife to the other side to sit down and rest.
After waiting for a few more minutes, Ji Feng and their father and mother came slowly over.
When he saw Ji Zheng, his reaction was the same as Ji Cheng's, even the questions he asked were the same.
Ji Zheng also answered with the same words.
Once everyone is present, we can start eating.
The food was very simple, just some dry cakes and some unknown paste.
Each person took two cakes and dipped them in the sauce.
Ji Zheng didn't eat any. After all, the cakes in the basket seemed to be just enough for him to share.
No one else asked him whether he had eaten it or not, and they all assumed that he had eaten it.
During this time, Song's mother and Ji's father chatted about this year's harvest and taxes.
They were almost done eating, but there was still one person who hadn't arrived, Ji Hean.
Ji Zheng thought for a moment, then stood up, picked up a hoe, and said to the others, "I'm going to work."
No one said anything.
Ji Zheng walked along the ditch for more than ten meters and finally saw Ji Hean at the end.
I saw Ji Hean's small body hoeing the ground.
Ji Zheng walked up to him, imitated him, and started to plow the ground.
Seeing the extra people around him, Ji Hean paused with his hand holding the hoe and called out softly, "Alang."
Ji Zheng didn't know what the name Alang meant at first, but he just sorted it out from the original owner's memory.
Alang means husband.
It would have been better if he didn't know. After knowing this, hearing Ji He'an's soft call of "Alang", Ji Zheng had an indescribable feeling in his heart, as if someone had gently brushed him with a feather.
It's a bit itchy and a bit awkward.
After all, he is still a young high school boy with no experience in love.
