Shi Chan quickly arrived in the city and landed on a wide street. After letting several civilians who were running towards him pass, he blocked the way of more than a dozen demons and said in a cold voice, "You demons' acts of slaughtering innocent people are truly despicable. This humble monk will not spare you today!"
"Hey, a monk's here!" one of the demons sneered. "And a monk with quite the big mouth!"
Another demon chimed in, "These Central Plains people only know how to run. I'm already tired of them. Just in time for a monk to come along. Watch how I slaughter him!"
Shi Chan's face was icy cold, and his gaze toward the dozen or so demons was filled with extreme hatred. A golden light flashed on his body, and the Seven Treasures Kasaya appeared on his body. At the same time, he threw the Zen Purification Beads out of his hand. The swastikas on the many Buddhist beads shone brightly and transformed into many Buddhist artifacts that seemed to be in reality. They rushed toward the dozen or so demons with a fierce aura.
Suddenly, a beam of black light descended from the sky, blocking the path between a dozen demons and numerous Buddhist artifacts.
Upon seeing the crystal emerging from the black light, Shi Chan immediately halted the momentum of the numerous Buddhist artifacts rushing forward.
Through the golden light of the Buddhist artifact, Liuli glanced at Shichan from afar, then turned to face the dozen or so demons and said coldly, "This monk is mine. I will kill him with my own hands. You should all leave this place!"
The dozen or so demons looked at each other. They all knew Liuli and her cruel methods. In addition, they knew her position in Li Molin's heart, so they did not want to fight with her.
After a moment's hesitation, the dozen or so people exchanged glances, turned and ran away without a word.
Liuli turned around, her small face icy as she walked towards Shichan. She passed through the many Buddhist artifacts and quickly arrived in front of Shichan. Then she suddenly grabbed his arm and pulled him into a small alley.
Helpless, Shi Chan let Liuli pull him along. After softly reciting a mantra, the numerous Buddhist artifacts floating in the air transformed into the Zen Pure Pearl, which lightly flew into his hand.
The man and the fox had barely turned into the alley when a large number of people fled in panic from the main street, followed by several hideous demons. However, before the people could reach the alley where Liuli and Shichan were, they were caught by the demons and brutally murdered.
Shi Chan faintly heard screams, his expression turned pained, and he instinctively wanted to go out.
Liuli pulled his arm, dragging him back and coldly shoving him against the wall. She then braced herself against the wall beside him, firmly pinning him down. Her small face was icy cold as she stared at him, her voice chilling, "Monk, are you leaving or not?"
Shi Chan looked down at Liu Li helplessly and sighed, "Miss, I really cannot abandon the people in this city. If I leave now, I will never be able to rest easy. That would be something I fear more than death."
Liuli was filled with resentment, resenting his refusal to leave and also hating herself for not being able to let him go. This made her gaze grow even colder. She lowered her eyes and pondered for a moment before coldly saying, "I also don't like seeing them kill these defenseless Central Plains people. You can leave now. I'll go find Li Molin later and have him order the demons to stop the killing and expel everyone from this city."
A look of confusion appeared on Shi Chan's face. He couldn't help but ask, "Young lady, why did the demons slaughter an entire city's inhabitants without provocation? What exactly do they want to do?"
Liuli said in a deep voice, "I won't tell you that. I can only guarantee you that the remaining people from the Central Plains in this city will not die. As for you, get out of here as soon as possible!"
Liuli spoke bluntly, but Shichan was overjoyed. He smiled and said, "Miss, I am truly happy that you say that."
Liuli said coldly, "Monk, stop babbling and leave! The sooner you leave, the more people from the Central Plains I can save!"
“Alright.” Shi Chan said with a smile, “Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. If you can save the lives of the people in the city, your merit will be immeasurable. I thank you on behalf of these people.”
Liuli withdrew her hand and took a step back, coldly saying, "Stop arguing! Get out of here before anyone notices you!"
"Yes." Shi Chan smiled and performed a Buddhist salute, giving Liuli one last gentle look before flying away.
