As soon as Tang Wan finished speaking, the butler walked in with another man in a suit, both carrying suitcases. Tang Zhiyi stared intently at the two suitcases, a hint of greed in her eyes.
She had seen those two suitcases before; they were the latest models, or even limited editions. She wanted them, but the Meng family simply couldn't provide them for her, while Tang Wan could easily own an entire series!
"Sir, Madam, Miss."
"What is this?" Su Yao asked.
"It's a little trinket I bought while traveling abroad," Tang Wan answered first.
"In that case, let's take them all with us." This little bit of stuff is nothing to the Tang family.
“Mom, it’s not that I don’t want my sister to take her away, it’s…it’s because my adoptive father’s house is too small, there might not be a place for my sister to stay…” Her voice was soft, but when she said this, she immediately raised her voice.
"I... I didn't mean anything by it. I was just worried that my adoptive father and the others would be unhappy. It's a good thing that my sister is coming home, but bringing so many things back might leave a bad impression on my adoptive father, since it's our first meeting..."
Su Yao frowned at the poor acting, but Tang Zhiyi seemed oblivious, thinking she was just upset with Tang Wan.
Tang Wan smiled and said, "You don't need to worry about that. I will handle it. Dad... Mr. Tang, Mrs. Tang, thank you for raising me for the past 17 years. I, Tang Wan, am not ungrateful. I will remember everything I have done."
"It's good that you remember. I'll have my assistant transfer one million to you later. That should be enough for you for a while. The rest is up to you."
It must be said that Tang Sheng was very good at dealing with people. Su Yao had no objections either; they wouldn't block their own path, nor would they easily make enemies with anyone.
Tang Wan wasn't stupid; of course she'd take the money that was offered for free. These days, money isn't easy to earn.
"One million!" Tang Zhiyi was clearly struggling to keep up, and her smile became somewhat forced.
"Any objections?" Tang Sheng slightly raised his eyelids.
"No..." Tang Zhiyi lowered her head, "I just envy my sister, who gets our parents' love." Meng Zhiyi looked like a pitiful little white flower.
It's a pity this is the Tang family.
"The Tang family won't treat you badly. I'm busy with some projects right now, but once I'm done, I'll hold a family reunion banquet and introduce you to everyone." Tang Sheng has been in the business world for many years, and Tang Zhiyi's little tricks are nothing to him.
Tang Wan raised an eyebrow, not missing the smug smile on Tang Zhiyi's lips. She took back her earlier comment about Tang Zhiyi being smart. She wondered how the Meng family raised such a talented person, who seemed shrewd but revealed her stupidity the moment she opened her mouth.
It's not good to have only one normal person in a family. Tang Wan only decided to go to the Meng family because he had helped her before. Otherwise, given her personality, she would have immediately chosen to start her own household after leaving the Tang family.
She believes in repaying kindness and helping others whenever possible. Although she is somewhat selfish, she still has basic moral values.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, Tang Wan stood up. "Alright, then I won't disturb Mr. Tang's family reunion any longer."
There were no troubles, no arguments, and things went incredibly smoothly.
Butler Chen admired Tang Wan again... no, now it was Meng Wan. She was smart; knowing the situation was already set in stone, she decisively ended it, preventing both sides from being put in an awkward position, and even managing to gain some benefits.
"Young Miss, good luck." Outside the gate, Butler Chen and Aunt Liu stood with complicated expressions.
Meng Wan smiled, waved to them nonchalantly, and turned to leave the place where she had lived for 17 years, carrying only the small suitcase she had brought back to China.
Strangely, despite living in this place for 17 years, Meng Wan didn't seem to have much attachment to it, and even her luggage was pitifully small, as if she had a premonition, a premonition that she didn't belong here.
Su Yao transferred the money very quickly, and by the time the money arrived, Meng Wan had just managed to find the Meng family before sunset.
It wasn't that she didn't know how to use navigation, but rather that the Meng family's location was rather remote, surrounded by old residential buildings that looked quite old.
As Meng Wan walked by, several shirtless thugs squatted around the corner smoking and whistling at her. She ignored them, not even glancing at them, and pulled her suitcase through the rooms one by one. Because she was very wary of strangers, Meng Wan didn't ask anyone for help, which is why it took her some time.
The old building had rusty windows. Even though the sun hadn't completely set, it was incredibly dark inside.
The Meng family lives in one of these rooms. It's hard to imagine that the once wealthy Meng family could now only live in such a place. It's no wonder that the once pampered young lady is so eager to return to her ancestral home.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, Meng Wan went straight up. The residential complex was too old; the main gate was practically useless, anyone could come and go. The long corridor was piled with all sorts of clutter, and there was a foul, rotten smell of food.
Meng Wan rubbed her nose and frowned.
The Meng family lived in the corner on the second floor. They were a wealthy family, so they were quite particular about their appearance. Their entrance was spotless, a stark contrast to the other households.
After confirming the door number again, Meng Wan prepared to knock, but just then the door was pushed open from the inside. Fortunately, Meng Wan reacted quickly and took a step back, avoiding bumping into the door.
The person inside poked their head out, clearly startled as well.
"I'm sorry, are you alright?" The other person's voice was cool yet gentle, which made people feel good about them.
