Chapter 35 is quite to my liking.

Chapter 35 is quite to my liking.

Lu Xiwen remained silent and discarded a card.

Pei Wu noticed that the person who used to secretly feed the cards had suddenly stopped.

Helpless, he played a small joker, which allowed him to get rid of the four in his hand.

Kuang Junmeng followed Pei Wu with a grumbling and a powerful shout of "Five!" but a card almost lifted up Cao Guan's bangs next to him.

Cao Guan was stunned for a moment, and when he saw that Kuang Junmeng, who had just played a round of cards, only had a few cards left in his hand, he immediately rushed over and grabbed him by the neck: "Do you think we're blind?"

There was a commotion over there, and everyone was laughing, including Pei Wu. Then, seemingly casually, she approached Lu Xiwen and said in a voice that only the two of them could hear, "Don't worry, I know that a BO relationship has no future."

Lu Xiwen turned his head and gave him a strange look.

But Pei Wu just smiled.

"snort!"

Kuang Junmeng poked his head out from under Cao Guan's arm, looking like a hedgehog with its fur standing on end. "No, why are you humming when I'm being hit?"

“Bad hand,” Lu Xiwen said. “Playing cards with you is no fun; I don’t even know how I’m going to lose.”

Kuang Junmeng: "..."

Guan Yan glanced at Pei Wu and Lu Xiwen.

The various smells mixed in the room may have diluted the pheromones, and Kuang Junmeng and the others had been drinking all night, which had reduced their senses. But Guan Yan wouldn't mistake him. He was an Omega and hadn't drunk much. He could smell Pei Wu's scent.

He even wondered if Lu Xiwen had rubbed himself all over his little assistant? The pheromone barrier was so strong that it was almost indistinguishable from a temporary mark.

This is something that top-tier individuals rarely do, unless they really like it.

"Two blind men," Guan Yan thought to himself, "so obvious, yet they didn't notice at all."

Cao Guan had actually noticed something amiss. The only truly naive and innocent one was Kuang Junmeng. After finishing their tea, they planned to move on to another place. Kuang Junmeng approached Pei Wu, calling him "brother" repeatedly.

Kuang Junmeng kept asking to go bowling one minute and skiing the next. Since the latter was prone to getting into trouble after drinking, they went to a club they frequented.

Pei Wu doesn't know how to bowl, so she just watches from the sidelines.

"Pei Wu, come up and give it a try!" Kuang Junmeng called out.

Pei Wu shook her head: "Forget it, I'm afraid you'll laugh at me if I type it out."

"Who doesn't start from scratch?" Cao Guan said, wiping his sweat as he came down. "Go on."

Pei Wu couldn't refuse this time, so he took off his coat, revealing a black sweater underneath.

It's true that black makes you look slimmer. Kuang Junmeng looked at him openly and smiled without any malice, saying, "Assistant Pei, your waist is thinner than some Omegas."

Guan Yan, standing on the sidelines, once again wore an expression of watching the excitement unfold.

As expected, Lu Xiwen was completely overwhelmed by Kuang Junmeng after a few shots, unable to win and even on the verge of breaking through his defense.

Is this a fight with an enemy? Kuang Junmeng thought to himself.

Guan Yan felt that fools did not deserve sympathy. In his opinion, Lu Xiwen's behavior was very obvious, or rather, Lu Xiwen had no intention of hiding it at all.

Pei Wu's ball-handling posture was unstable, and he often hit the ball off course. Kuang Junmeng gave him a few pointers, but what he actually said was pure nonsense: "Pei Wu, open your palm, yes, hold it like that, and hit it like this."

“There’s a reason you failed Chinese in high school.” Lu Xiwen walked past Kuang Junmeng and naturally stood next to Pei Wu, teaching him hand in hand. When he bowed, Pei Wu felt the person behind him press against him; it was a synchronized action.

“Focus your attention,” Lu Xiwen said.

Pei Wu controlled the force as she threw the ball. The wooden paddle made a continuous crushing sound as it was thrown, followed by a soft "bang." The wooden paddle was knocked over with a crash. Pei Wu held her breath and noticed that the last one wobbled a few times but still stood in place, which was a bit of a pity.

"It's alright," Lu Xiwen said.

"Damn it!" Guan Yan heard Cao Guan mutter under his breath.

"How many months?" Guan Yan turned to Cao Guan and asked meaningfully.

“Pei Wu has only been in Changrong for a total of five months,” Cao Guan said. “In such a short time, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, if someone told me that Lu Xiwen was interested, I would have thought they were crazy.”

That makes sense.

"What's your impression of Pei Wu?" Cao Guan asked curiously.

Guan Yan: "A very impressive beta."

His tone was full of undisguised admiration. Guan Yan valued first impressions and even more attention to detail. From the first moment he saw Pei Wu until now, he found her to be appropriate, steady, and without any overstepping or abrupt behavior. She also had a very pleasing appearance.

Guan Yan sighed, "This person is quite to my liking. If I were an Alpha, I would have been able to catch him before Lu Xiwen did."

"Wouldn't someone surnamed Lu fight you to the death?" Cao Guan felt there were too many flaws in this statement. However, before Guan Yan differentiated, everyone thought he would be an Alpha. He was just as flamboyant and passionate as he was in his youth, the kind of person who could run a marathon and be in first or second place with Lu Xiwen. Later, he differentiated into an Omega, his physical strength declined significantly, and he was bound by pheromones, which is why he became a quiet observer.

Lu Xiwen taught Pei Wu a few rounds of the game, but was politely interrupted by a waiter who jogged up to him. The waiter pointed upstairs, and Lu Xiwen saw a familiar face through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

“You guys play first,” Lu Xiwen said.

He went upstairs under the waiter's guidance, and the next second, Pei Wu saw Ruan Hanyan standing behind that familiar face.

Pei Wu tensed up instinctively for a moment, then relaxed and calmly looked away.

He ignored the darkness in Ruan Hanyan's eyes.

Pei Wu wasn't without friends during his university years. He had one or two close friends and a good relationship with his roommates. But without exception, they all eventually distanced themselves from him, either out of fear of Ruan Hanyan's power or because they believed his attempts to sow discord.

But Lu Xiwen was different. Pei Wu firmly believed that if a person had no problems, but there were constant doubts around them, then there was no doubt that it was an environmental problem. They should step out, move upstream, and come into contact with normal people.

The other party did indeed have some connection with Lu Xiwen, and Ruan Hanyan was brought along as a friend's son to familiarize himself with the Hongdu circle. After Lu Xiwen finished speaking, he got up and left.

He had only taken a few steps after leaving the house when Ruan Hanyan caught up with him, "Mr. Lu."

He seemed to have run a little too fast, his face flushed, his sparkling eyes full of admiration and appreciation, and his body temperature radiating a few pheromones that would be hard for any Alpha to resist. Ruan Hanyan, being an Omega, had a natural advantage.

As soon as Lu Xiwen frowned, Ruan Hanyan subconsciously suppressed his pheromones.

After all, the comments about "photinia flowers" and "rotten bananas" really hit home.

“Mr. Lu.” Ruan Hanyan steadied his breathing, as if gathering his courage, and extended his hand: “There was a misunderstanding that night. Would you like to get to know each other again?”

In an instant, he exudes a resilient and cheerful image, with the curve of his lips perfectly positioned.

But Lu Xiwen peered through the outward gentleness and glimpsed the dark, damp, and cold soul behind it.

No one could withstand such a direct and sharp scrutiny from Lu Xiwen.

Ruan Hanyan could no longer laugh.

Omega cannot compete with Alpha, especially top-tier Alpha. Ruan Hanyan was simply unwilling to lose so easily.

But what if he fails? He's already engaged to Su Chen, isn't he?

Upon closer examination, it becomes clear that Ruan Hanyan's targets are all people around Pei Wu.

Is it because Su Chen, that useless guy who couldn't control his pheromones, entangled with Pei Wu during their university years?

If Ruan Hanyan were even slightly sane, she would have kicked Su Chen two meters away.

But he, like a vine, climbed up with Pei Wu.

Lu Xiwen believed in malice without cause, but Ruan Hanyan's malice was too sharp and not simply disgusting. He had a very clear purpose, and there was something in it that Lu Xiwen was very familiar with. What was it?

Lu Xiwen took a step closer, and Ruan Hanyan tried to back away, but he grabbed her collar.

Under the unavoidable gaze, the things that Ruan Hanyan had hidden seemed unable to bear it and scattered in all directions with a scream.

Found it...

An unbelievable realization struck Lu Xiwen's mind.

Is that how it is?

I never knew it was like that!

Ruan Hanyan was expelling the people around Pei Wu, just like an Alpha expelling someone who had offended their territory.

"You're a real pervert." Lu Xiwen pushed Ruan Hanyan away.
