Did you understand Chapter 36?
Ruan Hanyan stood in the well-lit corridor, but the light did not illuminate the expression on his face.
When Lu Xiwen discovered him, his shoulders slumped, and his gloomy aura was almost impossible to conceal.
Suddenly, Ruan Hanyan looked up.
He seemed not to understand Lu Xiwen's meaning, his expression blank and innocent. "Mr. Lu, what are you saying?"
Lu Xiwen raised an eyebrow slightly, not because Ruan Hanyan denied it, but because Ruan Hanyan seemed to think he would expose this matter to Pei Wu.
"Fool," Lu Xiwen sneered. "Who would put their love rival on the table?"
Even if this rival poses no threat whatsoever, it's still an eyesore.
Ruan Hanyan was afraid of being exposed. Whether it was because of his inferiority complex or something else, Lu Xiwen was not interested. But obviously, Ruan Hanyan knew nothing about Lu Xiwen's temperament. He thought that this Alpha, who had been rated as an "Outstanding Youth" and "Outstanding Entrepreneur," was a gentleman. In fact, Lu Xiwen's heart was smaller than the eye of a pin.
When it comes to destroyers, no one understands them better than the top-tier destroyers.
“Did we just say anything?” Lu Xiwen asked in return.
Ruan Hanyan was stunned for a moment upon hearing this. After a while, a certain realization surged through his mind like a tidal wave, and he couldn't help but widen his eyes, "You..."
"Mr. Lu," Pei Wu said, standing at the other end of the corridor, looking this way, "Is it not ready yet?"
"Alright." Lu Xiwen replied, while giving Ruan Hanyan a rare, smirking smile. His provocative skills were quite impressive, clearly conveying, "Do you understand?"
Then, as I passed by Ruan Hanyan, I bumped into his arm again, feeling as if I could smash his shameful courage to pieces.
As Lu Xiwen walked downstairs alongside Pei Wu, he casually asked, "Are you hungry?"
Pei Wu subconsciously touched her stomach: "A little."
Lu Xiwen squinted, as if he were being tickled comfortably from afar by something. "I'll take you to the restaurant."
Kuang Junmeng got carried away with the game, waved his hand, and Guan Yan and Cao Guan followed.
The four of them sat by the window in the restaurant. Guan Yan habitually ordered first and then handed the menu to Pei Wu. Pei Wu thanked him and quickly told the waiter about a few dishes. At this point, Lu Xiwen couldn't suppress the smile on his face.
For no other reason than that Pei Wu ordered all of his favorite foods.
At the dinner table, everyone talked about ordinary topics, without much mention of business, but they didn't avoid Pei Wu either.
Pei Wu overheard this and learned that Guan Yan wasn't planning to leave after returning to China. Although he was an Omega, he had a strong learning ability and had completed all his credits. He just needed to fly over to get his degree upon graduation and then join the family business.
Cao Guan's elder brother is running the family business and has recently encountered some trouble. He needs Lu Xiwen to help him out.
Lu Xiwen nodded, looking at the green beans that Pei Wu had picked up on the plate.
Pei Wu said, "It tastes good. You should eat more green vegetables too."
Lu Xiwen reluctantly put it in his mouth.
Guan Yan rolled his eyes slightly. "Feeling great, bro?"
At 2 PM, Lu Xiwen took Pei Wu away. It was so noisy when Kuang Junmeng was around. He was going to drink later, so he couldn't stay.
Since there weren't many things at home, Pei Wu suggested going to the supermarket.
Pei Wu buys according to her needs, while Lu Xiwen buys according to her mood; their shopping carts are full in just a few minutes.
Fortunately, the supermarket offers free delivery. I'll just hand it over to them later, Pei Wu thought.
Lu Xiwen's attitude was clear: since neither of them had any connections, they would just make do and get through the New Year.
Although he was a bit picky, Pei Wu thought it was fine.
Pei Wu was in the kitchen when there was a knock on the door. She was about to go out when Lu Xiwen said, "I'll come."
They all assumed he was a supermarket delivery person.
However, when the door opened, Lu Xiwen was a little surprised to see Radish Head standing at the door.
Pei Zhen had to look up to see Lu Xiwen's face clearly.
Pei Zhen unconsciously softened her breathing and said with some doubt, "Did I go to the wrong place?"
"Who are you looking for?" Lu Xi asked.
“Pei Wu,” Pei Zhen continued, “my brother.”
Lu Xiwen had no good feelings towards Pei Wu's family, but Pei Zhen seemed quite normal.
“Xiao Zhen?” Pei Wu stood behind Lu Xiwen, still holding a spatula in her hand.
Pei Zhen breathed a sigh of relief: "Brother!"
Adding Pei Zhen would make the rice enough, but we'd still need to add two more dishes.
Judging from Pei Wu's expression, Lu Xiwen knew he quite liked this younger sister, so he tried to appear approachable and asked, "Would you like some water?"
“Okay, thank you.” Pei Zhen nodded.
Lu Xiwen got up to pour water, making the already small living room feel even more cramped. This wasn't Pei Zhen's first time visiting Pei Wu's rented apartment, but she never felt this way before. Pei Wu was always clean and tidy, keeping everything in perfect order. Now... it wasn't that it was messy, but rather that there were many things that hadn't been there before.
The table was covered with half-eaten snacks, several full plastic bags, and among them were an expensive watch and luxury car keys casually tossed around. Everything seemed unusual, yet surprisingly harmonious.
Pei Zhen was more perceptive, and she quickly determined that the relationship between the tall Alpha in front of her and her older brother was extraordinary.
Pei Zhen got a little restless and made an excuse to go to the kitchen. When she finally had to face her older brother, she almost jumped up and down, then lowered her voice and asked, "Brother, is that your boyfriend?"
Pei Wu almost choked on her words: "No, it's my boss."
"It's not just the boss, is it?" Pei Zhen's eyes flashed with a mischievous smile. Before Pei Wu could say anything, she immediately praised, "Your boss is more handsome than a big star! When the door opened, I thought the model had come to life!"
Pei Wu didn't refute: "He is good-looking."
The two chattered away, completely unaware that there was no door to the kitchen, and that even at that low volume, a top-tier person could hear them clearly with just a little effort.
Lu Xiwen picked up his water glass and drank it all in one gulp.
The rice was cooked, the table was cleaned, and six dishes were laid out. Pei Zhen held her chopsticks, eager to try. Her mother's cooking skills were so-so, and she always gave the best food to Pei Ming. Although she was not good at eating, she didn't really like eating out.
Pei Zhen quickly finished a bowl of rice.
Lu Xi couldn't help but ask, "Is your family facing a famine?"
"No," Pei Zhen said somewhat embarrassedly, "I didn't eat lunch."
Lu Xi handed her the chicken leg, saying, "Then eat more."
"Thank you, thank you."
Pei Wu frowned: "Was no one home at noon?"
"Hmm." Pei Zhen said casually, "Mom and Dad took Pei Ming to Grandma's house."
Pei Wu put down her chopsticks: "Didn't I bring you?"
"Hmm." Pei Zhen slowed down her chewing, swallowed, and said, "They told me to handle it myself, but I thought this was a good opportunity, so I came to find you."
“I’ll call them.”
“Hey, brother.” Pei Zhen stopped him. “If you make a phone call, won’t you get harassed? Besides, I don’t want to go to Grandma’s place. You know she’s only nice to Pei Ming. Who does she treat like a human being? I can’t be bothered to listen to her nagging. It’s much better to stay here with you.”
Pei Wu then fell silent.
Mr. Lu remained silent, only continuing to put chicken legs on Pei Zhen's plate.
