Chapter 41 Goddaughter
Seeing the old man's displeasure, Sang Ruo naturally dared not continue to be negligent.
She quickly took the phone, found Bo Jinyan's number, pressed the call button, and then handed the phone back to Old Master Bo.
"Grandpa, you were looking for me?"
Not long after, the man's deep and magnetic voice suddenly entered Sang Ruo's ears.
Old Master Bo said sternly, "Come back right away. I have something very important to ask you."
"I have a meeting tonight, so just tell me what you need over the phone."
"No, you have to come back...cough cough...cough..."
Old Master Bo seemed to be angry, coughing repeatedly as he spoke.
Sang Ruo was worried that this matter would affect Old Master Bo's recovery, and she absolutely could not upset him at this time.
Sang Ruo gave Bo Jinyan a heads-up, saying calmly, "Mr. Bo, Grandpa already knows about Linlin's matter."
Upon hearing this, the man opposite him fell silent for a moment.
After a long pause, Bo Jinyan's deep voice came from the other end: "Okay, I'll be right back."
After the voice fell, Bo Jinzhou, who was standing at the door, looked incredulously in the direction of Sang Ruo.
Every time Old Master Bo asked his uncle to come back, he would have to coax and plead with him for a while before the uncle would agree.
But Sang Ruo only said one sentence, and her uncle agreed to come back?
After hanging up the phone, Sang Ruo continued packing her medicine kit without saying a word.
"Bo Jinzhou, help me downstairs. I need to go to the living room to wait for him. Everyone stay for dinner tonight, and no one is leaving."
Sang Ruo's hand, which was holding the medical instruments, suddenly paused slightly.
Actually, this was meant for her.
Ke Sangru guessed that Bo Jinyan must have already thought of a plan before saying such a thing, otherwise he would not have readily admitted that Song Linlin was his daughter.
Upon arriving at the living room, Sang Ruo stayed with Old Master Bo, waiting for Bo Jinyan to return.
Half an hour later, the familiar sound of an engine came from outside the door.
With the sound of leather shoes, Sang Ruo slowly raised her gaze and met those shimmering eyes.
After only a brief glance, the man quickly looked away and fixed his gaze on Old Master Bo: "Who told you about this?"
Bo Jinzhou, sitting next to Old Master Bo, subconsciously raised his eyes.
After feeling his burning gaze, Bo Jinyan's eyes suddenly darkened: "Did you say that?"
He walked to the sofa and sat down next to Sang Ruo.
This scene, when seen by Bo Jinzhou, always felt strangely unsettling.
After the man sat down, the corners of his narrow eyes were slightly upturned, and he stared intently at Bo Jinzhou opposite him.
It seems they are waiting for a reasonable response...
“It was me who told you,” Bo Jinzhou said with a serious expression. “I heard that your daughter lives in Youfeng Tower, but that’s Sang Ruo’s residence, as everyone knows. She often brings the child in and out, which is not appropriate, so I told Grandpa.”
Seeing that Bo Jinyan remained silent, Bo Jinzhou continued, "Rather than letting Grandpa hear gossip from others, it's better for family to tell him. What do you say, Uncle?"
Sang Ruo shifted her gaze from Bo Jinzhou's face to Bo Jinyan's direction.
The man's originally cold and stern profile softened under the warm lighting.
His thin lips moved, the curve of which was captivating: "A goddaughter, is she worth your grandfather going to such lengths?"
"What?" A hint of disbelief flashed in Bo Jinzhou's eyes: "Goddaughter?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the heavy weight that had been pressing on Sang Ruo's heart gradually lifted.
It seems he really did have a plan all along.
Goddaughter.
This is undoubtedly the best solution to the current situation.
"Otherwise what?" Bo Jinyan curled his thin lips into a cool smile, and smiled indifferently for a moment: "You don't really think she's my biological daughter, do you? I'm not even married yet, I don't even have a woman, where would I get a daughter from?"
"But I clearly heard her call you 'Dad'..."
"Isn't a godfather a father?" Bo Jinyan's eyes turned chillingly cold: "My nephew's aggressive behavior is rather incomprehensible."
"alright."
Just as Bo Jinzhou was about to say something more, he was interrupted by the old man Bo, who had remained silent all along.
He looked up at Bo Jinyan across from him: "When did you adopt a goddaughter? Although she's not your biological daughter, this is still a very important matter. You should have told me earlier."
"There's nothing to say. If you want to see it, just bring it back another day."
Bo Jinyan spoke in a detached tone, leaning back in his chair, his voice deep and resonant.
Old Master Bo cleared his throat: "Since she's a goddaughter, she naturally has parents. Why has Sang Ruo been the one taking care of her all along?"
Before Sang Ruo could speak, the man beside her spoke first: "She has no parents anymore."
Sang Ruo was taken aback, not expecting Bo Jinyan to say such a thing.
But upon closer examination, that statement isn't entirely wrong.
The child's father had abandoned her, and the mother was soon executed...
In reality, it's no different from being an orphan.
Seeing that Mr. Bo remained silent, Sang Ruo added, "I know her mother, and we have a pretty good relationship. It's because of this relationship that I've been looking after the child, which is kind of like taking care of the child for Mr. Bo..."
Old Master Bo nodded thoughtfully: "So that's how it is."
"Yes."
Sang Ruo nodded slightly and noticed that the man beside her seemed to be looking at her, but because Bo Jinzhou was right across from her, she hesitated to turn her head and meet his gaze.
Bo Jinzhou, sitting opposite him, had an extremely unpleasant expression.
The air pressure around me kept dropping.
"Now that the misunderstanding has been cleared up, there's no need to pursue it any further. It's just a child; there's no need to make a big fuss about it."
When Mr. Bo said these words, his head tilted slightly toward Bo Jinzhou.
Everyone knew that these words were meant for Bo Jinzhou.
Bo Jinzhou remained silent, but his gaze towards Sang Ruoshi was filled with intense resentment and anger.
"It's getting late, and I do have an important meeting tonight, so I'll be leaving now."
Bo Jinyan quickly got up from the sofa, his voice low and hoarse.
"Aren't you going to eat before you leave? You're already back anyway."
Old Master Bo looked displeased and glanced in their direction.
Sang Ruo also stood up: "I happen to have something to do tonight, so I won't stay for dinner. I wonder if I could hitch a ride with Mr. Bo?"
Bo Jinyan glanced at Sang Ruo, a half-smile playing on his lips: "Of course."
Bo Jinzhou quickly stood up: "You can ride in my car!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he quickly stepped forward, grabbed Sang Ruo's arm, and strode towards the door.
Upon reaching the door, Sang Ruo immediately pulled her hand away from Bo Jinzhou's, saying, "We're not going that way..."
Bo Jinzhou's brows furrowed slightly: "But you and your uncle aren't going the same way! Why did you hitch a ride with your uncle?"
