Chapter 377 You Just Wait

The nurse on duty in the lobby ignored the noise coming from inside the building, wearing headphones and going about her business until she saw Xing Zhaoming and Xing Jiashu. Only then did she take off her headphones and go to greet them: "Mr. Xing."

“We’ve come to see Chen Wei,” Xing Zhaoming said.

The nurse nodded and led them directly to the second floor of the small building: "Please follow me."

Just as he reached the second floor, the door to the room on the right opened, and a nurse came out. Without thinking, Xing Jiashu curiously peeked inside.

There were two hospital beds side by side in the room, with various medical instruments at the head of the beds, emitting "beep beep" sounds.

Whether they sensed the unusual gaze or not, the two heads lying on the hospital bed turned around at the same time. Upon seeing that it was a stranger, the dark eye sockets on their two skeletal heads lit up with an expectant and pleading light, making them look just like two living skeletons.

Xing Jiashu turned pale with fright and almost collapsed, but luckily Xing Zhaoming was right next to him and caught him in time.

"Are you alright?" Xing Zhaoming asked, but his eyes flashed with disdain. At his age, he's still so easily frightened; he's so naive.

"..." Xing Jiashu felt wronged. Anyone would be frightened if they saw that scene for the first time. He called him Dad.

The nurse who came out of the door was surprised to see someone come at this time, so she quickly closed the door, nodded to the nurse who was with Xing Zhaoming and Xing Jiashu, and left.

The nurse leading Xing Zhaoming and Xing Jiashu walked to the other side: "This way..."

Xing Zhaoming and Xing Jiashu quickly followed.

"Dad, those two are..." Xing Jiashu leaned close to Xing Zhaoming and asked in a low voice.

Xing Zhaoming nodded, glanced at Xing Jiashu who was frowning and looking conflicted, and asked, "What? Do you feel sorry for them?"

Xing Jiashu: "..." He dared not speak, afraid of getting beaten up.

“There’s nothing to pity. Compared to your aunt, they’re much better off now; at least they’re still alive,” Xing Zhaoming said coldly.

Xing Jiashu: "..." Living like this is worse than being dead.

As they were talking, the nurse led them to a room, opened the door with a key, and left.

Xing Jiashu couldn't wait any longer and pushed the door open. Seeing Chen Wei lying on the hospital bed, he couldn't help but excitedly call out, "Mom..."

Chen Wei was bound to the hospital bed with restraints, and her wrists were already bruised from struggling so much.

Hearing the door open, she initially thought it was the nurse and was about to start yelling at her, but when she realized it was her son, she immediately put on a pitiful look and said, "Jiashu, Jiashu, you're here! Please save Mom and take her away from here. Mom doesn't want to stay here."

Xing Jiashu's heart softened, and he wanted to go over and untie the person, but Xing Zhaoming grabbed him.

“No, she can’t leave here,” Xing Zhaoming said.

When Chen Wei saw Xing Zhaoming, all her former tenderness vanished, replaced by resentment: "Xing Zhaoming, how dare you show your face to me? After so many years of marriage, you actually locked me up in a place like this for Xing Zhaozhao, who has been dead for so long. You just wait, don't think that you people with the surname Xing and Gao can control everything. My brother will find out I'm missing soon and come looking for me. When that happens, I'll make sure that everyone in both of your families suffers a terrible death."

"Oh, right, and Xing Zhaozhao too." Chen Wei smiled sinisterly and said, "You better pray that she doesn't fall into my hands. Otherwise, I'll make her taste what I've suffered today. I'll catch her, lock her up, and slowly torture her until she can't live or die."

Xing Jiashu had originally intended to take Chen Wei away, but seeing her current state, he became frightened and hesitated.

"Mom, what are you talking about? Auntie has been dead for a long time," Xing Jiashu said, his eyes red.

Chen Wei tilted her head, her eyes flashing with a manic light, and said, "So what if I'm dead? Who says the dead can't come back to life?"

Suddenly, her eyes darted around, and a maniacal smile curled at the corner of her lips. She said, "I suddenly had a brilliant idea. It would be such a waste to lock up and slowly torture a person who is unique in the world who has come back from the dead. She should be handed over to people with aspirations to slowly dissect and study her, so as to contribute to the medical cause of mankind."

She looked at Xing Zhaoming defiantly: "If I spread this around, how many people do you think would be interested in her?"

Xing Zhaoming looked at Chen Wei expressionlessly: "I think you've really gone mad."

Chen Wei's face contorted with rage: "That's because you drove me crazy."

"Then you should just stay here. Even if your brother finds out, seeing you like this, I'm sure he'll agree with my decision." After saying that, Xing Zhaoming pulled Xing Jiashu, who was standing there dumbfounded, and turned to leave. After leaving, he didn't forget to lock the door behind him.

"Come back here, Xing Zhaoming, let me out..." Chen Wei's shouts and curses rang out again in the room, cursing Xing's ancestors for eighteen generations.

Xing Jiashu's face flushed red and then turned pale, then red, then black, as if he'd just opened a large dye vat. It was the first time he'd ever heard his mother curse so viciously and cruelly. And what she'd said about his aunt earlier—at over sixty years old, he realized he still knew absolutely nothing about his own mother.

Xing Jiashu looked dejected, his head drooping like a child who had made a mistake.

Xing Zhaoming patted Xing Jiashu's shoulder reassuringly: "It's okay. Your dad and your mom have lived together for a lifetime, and we still don't really know your mom well."

He paused for a moment, then continued, "Even your uncle, who grew up with your mother, probably doesn't know much about her."

Xing Jiashu felt a little more at ease.

When they returned to the Gao family home, Gao Mingcheng and Gao Hongfei were both there, seemingly waiting for them.

"Have you seen the person?" Gao Mingcheng glanced at them and asked.

"Hmm." Xing Zhaoming walked straight over and sat down next to him, saying, "He said he wanted both our families to suffer a terrible death."

Gao Mingcheng raised an eyebrow and said, "I'm really looking forward to it. I hope Chen Hao won't disappoint me."

Chen Hao, who was far away at home in the capital, suddenly sneezed for no apparent reason.

He rubbed his nose curiously. He didn't have a cold. Could someone be cursing at him? He wondered which old geezer was acting crazy again.

Thinking about Xing Zhaoming's sudden change of attitude at the hospital yesterday, Chen Hao was worried about Chen Wei and gave her a call.

When no one answered, his heart skipped a beat, and he immediately called Xing Zhaoming again.

Xing Zhaoming had just mentioned Chen Hao to Gao Mingcheng when he unexpectedly called: "This guy is really hard to talk to."

He answered quickly.

"Are you at the hospital? Why didn't Weiwei answer my call?" Chen Hao asked directly.

"I'm undergoing an examination, it's inconvenient," Xing Zhaoming casually replied.

Chen Hao hadn't expected Xing Zhaoming to lie to him and didn't suspect anything: "How is she feeling today?"

"I'm much better now, and I should be able to be discharged in a couple of days," Xing Zhaoming said.

Xing Jiashu watched as Xing Zhaoming, without batting an eye, managed to fool Chen Hao, leaving him speechless for a long time.

Having lived for over sixty years, the beautiful image his parents had built in his heart since childhood has been completely shattered in just two short days.

Seeing that Xing Zhaoming seemed to intend to stay at the Gao family's house permanently and showed no sign of leaving, Xing Jiashu couldn't help but ask, "Dad, are you planning to stay at your uncle's house indefinitely?"

"Hmm." Xing Zhaoming nodded without any politeness and said, "Waiting for someone."

"Waiting for whom?" Xing Jiashu asked curiously.

Xing Zhaoming didn't answer him, but looked expectantly at Gao Mingcheng.

"I can't say for sure when," Gao Mingcheng said.

Although Xing Zhaoming was somewhat regretful, he still insisted, saying, "It's alright, so many years have passed, a few more days won't make a difference."

Xing Zhaoming never expected that this meeting he had been looking forward to would almost turn into a farewell, leaving him heartbroken.
