Chapter 19

Chapter 19

"We're not even in the same boat, why should I tell you my purpose?"

"Boring." Chi Xia rolled her eyes at him, then walked towards the door. "Since you're not bound by grades, my home visit is just a formality. I'll eat, I'll see you, and then I'll leave."

"You don't need the leave slip anymore?" Ye Feng asked with a smile, standing still.

"Give it or not, it's up to you." Chi Xia raised her hand to open the door.

Ye Feng rushed over and grabbed the door from behind Chi Xia, saying, "Teacher, isn't it a bit too much of a split personality to turn on me right after giving me the pendant?"

Chi Xia took a deep breath, suppressing her urge to beat someone up. She turned around, pushed the person away with one hand, and stretched out her palm with the other. "Give it back to me. I've changed my mind. Giving you a pendant is indeed inappropriate. I'll give you a practice exam book another day."

Ye Feng instinctively clutched his chest and stepped back, "Can you take back something you've already given away?"

"One second someone is all smiles and laughter, the next second they're shot and dead. What's impossible in this world?" Chi Xia gestured again.

Ye Feng pressed down her hand as she reached for it. "If you carve my name on it and wear it, it's mine. Teacher, I'm not asking you to agree to cooperate now, so there's no need to rush to draw a line."

Chi Xia calmly observed the boy who was four years younger than her. She saw that he had all the resources of high society at such a young age. He was someone who grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Even without the experience of time, he was still calm and mature in his own way.

Chi Xia definitely needed to know the inside story of the Demon Fishing Academy, because the note left by the sisters, which could be considered a suicide note, only contained these four words.

Imagine someone who knows they are likely to die, and writes down four words before they die—that's quite intriguing.

On the surface, the sisters were pointing Chi Xia in the right direction, but how could she know it was a safe haven? Was this escape route meant for Chi Xia or for herself? Had she ever fantasized about taking that job, making a clean getaway, and then joining the Magic Fishery Academy?

Once Chi Xia actually joins the Demon Fishing Academy, countless mysteries will remain to be solved, such as those surrounding Xin Ran.

"Are you spacing out?" Ye Feng snapped his fingers.

Chi Xia snapped out of her daze. "Ah, I'm sleepy because I'm too full. What did you just say?"

Ye Feng tilted his head and carefully examined the person in front of him again; her existence was like a mystery.

"Teacher, I'm really curious about you. You're only in your early twenties, with no resources, no background, and no talent to speak of. How did you manage to get into the Magic Fishing Academy?"

As he spoke, Ye Feng took a few steps back and leaned against the experimental table closest to the door. A plant with a gaping maw grew out of the cultivation box, and behind him, through a special glass panel, it kept biting and snapping, creating a somewhat eerie scene.

"More importantly, you have such good skills. I've tried my best, but you seem to be just casually dealing with me. At the academy, we teased you so much, and all sorts of mutated creatures revealed our extraordinary family backgrounds, but you were so upright and straightforward. I heard you even directly attacked He Ying. Do you know that no teacher in the academy can afford to offend the He family? What is your confidence, or rather, what are your trump cards?"

Chi Xia sneered, "Little Ye, didn't you say yourself that we're not on the same path?"

"You've wronged me, teacher. I meant we haven't been on the same boat yet."

Knowing that the conversation wouldn't end anytime soon, Chi Xia moved a white chair and sat down opposite Ye Feng.

"I believe you've already checked, but you didn't find anything, which is why you're so curious about me. I'm not afraid to tell you, I'm the kind of person who can put someone to sleep in a minute. But right now, I just want to be a good teacher."

"Can put someone to eternal sleep in an instant?"

"Yes. You're right, I used to deal with dead people a lot."

Ye Feng frowned. "An embalmer? A funeral home?"

“…Yes, you’re very smart.” Chi Xia raised an eyebrow and went along with the mistake.

"An embalmer needs to be very skilled? I didn't know that."

"How would you know if you haven't done it? The profession of mortician is already protected. If you resign to work in another industry, your resume is protected and can be directly removed from your personal file. Moreover, there are so many people with awakened talents, and countless people have died unnatural deaths. We morticians have to protect ourselves to prevent awakened individuals from coming back to life and harming people."

Ye Feng opened his bracelet and checked the information. "It's true what you said, so you really did work at a funeral home before, as an embalmer?"

Chi Xia smiled, "Are you still curious about me now?"

Ye Feng pulled up a chair and sat down next to Chi Xia. "Can you tell me about some interesting things that have happened to you?"

Chi Xia looked at him seriously, "No."

Ye Feng: "...Consider it my birthday wish."

Chi Xia: "I have no obligation to fulfill that obligation."

Ye Feng sighed, "I'm begging you."

"This isn't how you ask for a favor. Besides, it's your birthday party today. Locking me up here to tell you stories seems rather absurd."

Ye Feng laughed, "Teacher, how about we try dating? You can be my first love?"

Chi Xia paused for two seconds, stood up, walked to the door, and kicked it open. "Let's talk about cooperation. Why do you want both? Ye, you're insatiable. Aren't you afraid of being overwhelmed?"

He left as soon as he finished speaking, not even giving the two guards at the door a moment to react.

Cheng Mo rushed in first and almost dropped his jaw when he saw Ye Feng sitting in a chair, chuckling to himself. "Teacher with braids violently tore down your lab door, and you're so happy about that?"

Feng Xiao followed closely behind, "What did you two say? Teacher Xia looks very angry."

Ye Feng looked at the broken door and said, "I flirted with her."

Chixia Communications called Xin Ran and Xun Jiang to set up the car's location and head back.

Xiao Di's grandparents escorted her to the car in the basement. Xiao Di's grandfather kept trying to persuade her to stay, saying that he and Xin Ran still had many things to talk about. Xiao Di's grandmother also said it was too late and she should stay for the night. Xiao Di held onto Xun Jiang's hand tightly.

Ye Feng and Cheng Mo stood aside. Ye Feng stared intently at Chi Xia, who had no expression on her face, trying to discern her emotions from her calm and expressionless expression.

Xin Ran waved her hand, "Grandpa, there will be opportunities. I won't stay out overnight."

Xun Jiang squatted down and hugged Xiao Di. "I'll come see you again when I have time. It's too late, go back to sleep. Children need to go to bed early and get up early."

Xiao Di nodded reluctantly.

Ye Feng: "Teacher, please think carefully about what I'm about to say."

The car drove out of the underground parking garage and then passed through a side door.

After a moment of silence in the car, Xin Ran turned to look at Chi Xia in the back seat with a smile, "What did your student say that made you so angry?"

Xun Jiang was a little confused and turned to look at Chi Xia, "Teacher Xia, are you angry?"

Chi Xia: "No."

Xun Jiang looked at Xin Ran, "Which eye of yours saw that she was angry?"

Xin Ran smiled nonchalantly, "Really? Maybe I misread it. I'm sleepy, I'm going to take a nap. You guys can talk about love all you want, I'm a very sound sleeper, I can't even hear thunder."

Xun Jiang gave him a sidelong glance, then immediately looked gently at the back seat, "Teacher Xia, shall we have a chat?"

Chi Xia closed her eyes. "I'm sleepy too. I'll take a nap."

Xun Jiang: "..."

Should I not have been in the car, but under it?
