Chapter 22 Healing the Leg

Chapter 22 Healing the Leg

Before Daya got married, she lived with the old lady.

There is still a bed board in the room, with some odds and ends piled on it.

The old lady tidied up her room for Shuyu to stay in, and Shuyu took her bedding and went out, saying she would move to the eldest son's house.

Shu Yu couldn't stop her, so she could only let her go.

It seems she can't stay at the Lu family's house tomorrow. It doesn't make sense that she stayed one night, not only eating all of the Lu family's food supplies but also driving the owners away.

Shu Yu originally thought that with so many things on her mind, she probably wouldn't be able to sleep, but to her surprise, it was the most restful sleep she had had in the year since she came to Da Su Dynasty.

When she woke up the next day, everyone else had already packed up, and Nguyen had even washed her clothes and returned.

Shu Yu suddenly sat up, rubbing her face in disbelief.

Oh no, Lu Erbai is supposed to go to the county town to get his leg checked today. If she sleeps until now, won't that delay things?

Shu Yu quickly got up, dressed, and opened the door. Sure enough, everyone was already waiting for her.

But the old lady kept saying there was no rush and told her to take her time.

Shu Yu wasn't about to take her time. The kitchen had left her breakfast, and she ate a few bites before setting off.

Lu Erbai and the old lady went to the county town this time, while Ruan stayed at home to take care of the two children.

Although Madam Ruan also wanted to go, Lu Erbai was going to seek medical treatment, and it would be too much of a hassle for the whole family to go out together.

Shu Yu went along because she wasn't sure if the rumored 'orthopedic doctor' was really capable. If he was just a fame-seeker, and Lu Erbai's leg was tormented again, then it would truly be beyond saving.

The oxcart was parked outside the door; the old lady had borrowed it yesterday.

The oxcart driver was a young man. The old lady explained, "This is the eldest son's big ox. We don't know how to drive, so I asked him to come and lend a hand."

Da Niu looked very honest and didn't dare to look at Shu Yu too much. He just sat on the oxcart and chuckled twice. After everyone was settled, he drove the oxcart out of the village.

Many people on the street were watching them, and many eyes were focused on Shu Yu, pointing at her and whispering among themselves.

Shu Yu didn't care, she just asked Lu Erbai how his legs felt.

Lu Erbai only said that it hurt a little, probably because he fell yesterday.

The ox driving the cart didn't say anything, but he slowed down. Shu Yu was surprised; this man seemed quiet and unassuming, but he was actually quite meticulous.

When the group arrived in the county town, it was past Chenshi (7-9 AM), and the whole town was bustling with activity.

Following the address they had found out, the group arrived at Dr. Xu's clinic.

Although it's called a clinic, it's actually just a very small shop.

There were only Doctor Xu and his apprentice in the shop. The wall was lined with a whole row of medicine cabinets, which looked quite impressive.

Perhaps Dr. Xu's fees were too high; there were two customers getting medicine at the shop, but not a single patient.

Shu Yu and the others went inside. Doctor Xu looked up at them, but without saying much, he asked Lu Erbai to sit down first and then took his pulse and examined his injuries.

Shu Yu kept watching his expression, and after a while, Doctor Xu stood up.

"The bone is dislocated and needs to be broken and reset."

He described some of the symptoms in more detail than Shu Yu did.

Shu Yu was relieved, but the old lady was even more furious. "Doctor Yan really has done a lot of harm."

Dr. Xu had no interest in listening to her swear and asked directly, "Do you treat her?"

The old lady looked at Shu Yu, since she was the one who paid for it.

"Of course I'll treat it!" Shu Yu nodded without hesitation.
