They went their separate ways.

A number of emaciated children, women, and elderly people followed Xia Ning's car, begging for food. At first glance, it looked like a zombie outbreak.

Why are there no young men?

Because a young and strong man was hiding in the shadows, waiting for Xia Ning to feel pity.

Xia Ning ignored him and drove forward expressionlessly. After she almost knocked over someone who was trying to block the traffic, the people behind her finally gave up.

Xia Ning didn't get out of the car or stop; the city is so big that crossing it would take several hours.

However, it is easy to enter the city but difficult to leave.

Just as Xia Ning was preparing to work overtime for a few more hours, she heard a horn.

—Infected people have infiltrated the city!

—The entire city is under martial law and in centralized quarantine!

—Please arrive at the designated location for inspection within one hour.

—An hour later, the army will conduct screening, and anyone outside the quarantine area will be considered infected and shot on the spot.

—During this special period, we ask all citizens to cooperate with the management measures.

Cooperate?

Free agents are unlikely to cooperate.

Xia Ning watched helplessly as the streets descended into complete chaos. Within ten minutes, hundreds or even thousands of people came out to protest, resolutely defending their rights to personal privacy and freedom.

Since arriving in this instance, this was the first time Xia Ning had ever seen so many living people.

Some people even started clashing with the armed police.

Xia Ning decisively found a small alley, parked her car, and walked out of the city.

She had been blocked by zombies, by abandoned cars, and by roadblocks; this was truly the first time she had ever been blocked by a protest group.

A conflict between the military and civilians is imminent.

Xia Ning saw a person climb to the top floor, waving their country's flag and shouting, "We have the right to know!"

More and more people below joined in, chanting in unison: "The right to know!"

Speaker: "Do we know how viruses spread?"

"have no idea!"

Was it a premeditated biological attack?

"have no idea!"

Is it a crisis of human extinction?

"have no idea!"

Speaker: "Yes, we know nothing! Quarantine, and then what? Collectively wait to die?"

The speaker, his eyes blazing with fury, declared passionately: "What we want is not tyranny, but democracy..."

--Bang!

A red dot appeared on the speaker's forehead, and then he fell straight backward.

Screams and gunshots rang out incessantly.

The city is in complete chaos.

Everything was happening so surreal that Xia Ning was completely bewildered.

If this were the first day of Resident Evil, she could understand.

The outside is full of zombies, and almost all the residents of the surrounding towns are dead. Why are they fighting amongst themselves at this time?

The military and civilians began exchanging heated words, throwing smoke bombs, tear gas canisters, and homemade incendiary bottles at each other.

Xia Ning even saw several barefoot people in robes preaching in the middle of the chaotic crowd.

Is she dreaming?

This is so much in line with her stereotypes!

Hearing the sound of helicopter rotors overhead, Xia Ning didn't linger and immediately left the main road.

In sparsely populated areas, when the vehicles were released again and left, soldiers naturally raised their guns.

Xia Ning was too lazy to explain, so she simply pretended to be a fanatical idealist and declared that she was going to find utopia.

Perhaps the city is in chaos and there is a shortage of manpower.

Perhaps they assumed Xia Ning was doomed and had no intention of helping her, or even planned to reclaim her "inheritance" after her death.

So they only fired two shots as a symbolic gesture.

Xia Ning once again distanced herself from human habitation.

It's just a place with human habitation.

When they entered the city, the soldiers would also shoot at the zombies.

When they left, the roads were extremely dark without city lights, and Xia Ning, as the newest living person on the road, naturally attracted a lot of zombies.

Zombies kept emerging from the shadows, wave after wave, circle after circle.

Young and old, men and women, who may have once lived decent lives, have all become repulsive, forming another ugly side of the world.

When there are only a few, Xia Ning can drive over them, but when there are many, she has to worry about overturning her car.

So, Xia Ning did something.

Something that perfectly fits its image as an unlicensed animal trainer.

She took out the laser sword that Ji Li had given her from her backpack, turned on the handle, and had her sister hold the laser sword in her mouth to clear the way ahead.

The green light, like a bolt of lightning, guided her in the direction she was heading!

The little sister, having been through several dungeons, lived up to expectations, weaving through the horde of zombies, leaving wave after wave of zombies falling in her wake.

Zombies come in all shapes and sizes, making it difficult for my sister to accurately slit their necks every time. After all, she's a Pomeranian reincarnated, not a Samoyed. But it's okay, Xia Ning can drive past them now.

The guards at the gate were dumbfounded.

The team leader yelled, "Take a picture and send it to headquarters!"

"yes!"

The communications soldier hurriedly operated the equipment, and a moment later reported, covered in sweat, "Sir, communications have been cut off!"

"What?"

Before his superior could get angry, his emergency contact bell rang.

"Emergency evacuation! Emergency evacuation! Abandon the city defense! #@¥#¥……%#¥……Buzz……Buzz……"

The signal was completely cut off.

The soldiers exchanged glances, and in each other's eyes they saw terror.

The team leader instinctively looked outside, but the dilapidated car was nowhere to be seen; the newly emerged zombies had covered the corpses on the ground.

"Sizzle... sizzle..."
