Xu Nuo originally thought that throwing the ring back would end the matter.
But she had another dream.
This dream was more terrifying and real than any she had ever had before. She was drowning in the icy sea, crying and struggling in despair.
Outside, the door was tightly shut. The man had been guarding outside for half the night, and now, hearing her faint but frightened cries, his expression turned anxious.
He gritted his teeth and pushed the door open.
Xu Nuo curled up like a baby, hugging herself tightly with her arms, crying out, "No, help!"
Li Xian tried to wake her up, but was grabbed by the collar.
Her slender white fingers gripped the object tightly, so tightly that it turned red.
Li Xian's gaze fell on his chest, and suddenly he froze.
He was wearing a tattered, gray jacket, and the edge of the collar that she was holding slowly turned dark gray.
He grabbed her hand.
A few drops of water slipped through my fingers.
Xu Nuo's original words were: "In my dream, I felt like I was going to drown. When I woke up, there was water in my hands, which means my dream was real. What if I really died?"
Li Xian suddenly leaned down and grabbed her shoulders, his voice urgent and disordered: "Wake up, Xu Nuo."
Xu Nuo sobbed unconsciously, but remained unconscious, her face as white as paper, as if she were truly drowning. He reached out and pinched her lips, his eyes filled with turbulent waves: "Wake up."
Xu Nuo was woken up by the pinch.
She cried pitifully and coquettishly, clinging to him in fear, her body trembling, and mumbled, "Li Xian, I...I fell into the water, waaaaaah, it's so...scary..."
Li Xian's face was also pale.
A pair of strong arms pulled her close, and the hand on the back of her head trembled slightly: "It's okay, it's okay, you..."
He crouched down and asked her, "What did you dream about?"
Xu Nuo cried and said, "I dreamed of Lian Jiande. He said he wanted me to help them collect their bodies."
“Collect the body…” Li Xian murmured.
What corpse are you talking about? It would be strange if you could still find a body that went into the water thirty years ago. She felt that either she was overthinking things or she was possessed by an evil spirit.
Xu Nuo punched the bed board in anger and fear, then cried out in pain.
She blew on her wrist and suddenly smelled a fragrance. She sniffed it gently, her gaze falling on her hand, and then suddenly fell silent.
Every time she wakes up, the water on her hands smells this way.
A faint fragrance of flowers and herbs.
Blinking, Xu Nuo suddenly had a bold guess.
Then, she stared in surprise, her eyes widening, and hurriedly hid her hands behind her back.
Just now, a few drops of water actually welled up in her hand, wetting her palm.
Could this be...?
She was so excited that she wanted to jump out of bed, but someone caught her around the waist. Li Xian frowned as he looked at her, his voice still a little hoarse: "What's wrong?"
Her eyes lit up, and she shook his arm: "I want to go outside."
Li Xian silently bent down, but Xu Nuo had already taken his arm and stood up.
He was taken aback, withdrew his hand, and helped her out.
It was still dark outside, but some daylight had begun to appear. Li Xian saw Xu Nuo looking around, and then, as if suddenly remembering something, he awkwardly turned his face away: "You, you don't want that, do you?"
Xu Nuo asked in surprise, "Which one?"
She turned her head and saw that although his face was still expressionless, his ears were bright red. She instantly understood and, feeling both angry and embarrassed, slapped him: "No! I, I want to grow something."
Li Xian looked at her with a puzzled expression: "What are you planting?"
"Anything is fine, do you have any seeds?"
Li Xian thought for a moment and then gave her a handful of red beans.
Xu Nuo took two, looked up, and said softly, "Could you help me dig two holes?"
Li Xian dug two small holes for her at the door.
Xu Nuo put the red beans down and ordered him, "I need to water them."
He immediately went to the kitchen and scooped out a bowl of water. Watching her carefully water the two beans, he belatedly turned his gaze away and turned his back to her.
Until her voice came from behind: "Okay."
It was still early, so Li Xian said, "Go to sleep."
Xu Nuo then realized that she was in Li Xian's house.
"How did I get here?"
Li Xian stood at the door, his voice a little hoarse, unsure whether he was speaking to himself or to Xu Nuo: "It was too late last night."
Xu Nuo was still basking in the joy of possibly having a special ability when she heard this and nodded: "Thank you. I'll go straight to the commune canteen to find my sister later."
Since everyone in the brigade leader's family had gone to work, she said she hadn't eaten breakfast before leaving home.
