A sliver of morning light pierced the room, where the person on the bed was sleeping soundly. The door was pushed open, and Xue Ping rushed in to call for help.
"Nuonuo, get up quickly, Su Zhao is here."
The person who was woken up looked sleepy and groaned uncomfortably. They tried to turn over and go back to sleep, but the blanket was pulled off and they were dragged up.
Without the blanket, Xu Nuo had no choice but to open her eyes, wipe her damp eyes, and ask in a childish voice, "Who is Su Zhao?"
Xue Ping walked to the wardrobe to find her some clothes, and upon hearing this, leaned closer and whispered, "Director Chen's son, didn't I tell you about him last night?"
Oh, you're here to buy herbal tea.
Xue Ping placed the dress on the bed and urged her, "Wear this dress, hurry up."
She was in a hurry to go out and entertain the guests, serving porridge and cutting fruit. She said somewhat embarrassedly, "Comrade Su Zhao, please don't mind, we don't have anything good to offer you."
Su Zhao, needing a favor, was too polite to refuse, and waved his hand politely, saying, "Auntie, you're too kind. I'm the one who disturbed your breakfast."
His gaze paused for a moment.
The girl who came out of the room was obviously still asleep. Her white pajamas made her skin look even whiter. Her already beautiful face looked tired and drowsy. Her black hair was a little messy, and her big, round almond-shaped eyes were watery, with the corners of her eyes slightly downturned and then upturned.
They look well-behaved and cute.
It's not quite the same as before.
Su Zhao's gaze held a hint of doubt, but quickly returned to normal.
It wasn't the first time he had met Xu Nuo, but it was the first time Xu Nuo had met him. Fighting off her sleepiness, she groggily waved at him and said, "Hello."
Su Zhao stood up, his smile as warm as a spring breeze, and said politely, "Comrade Xu Nuo, hello, sorry to bother you."
Xue Ping winked at Xu Nuo, staring at her pajamas with disdain, and quickly said, "Don't bother me, don't bother me."
Xu Jinan and Xue Ping were rushing to work, so they ate breakfast and left.
“My grandfather’s leg injury is quite serious. He drank some herbal tea a few days ago, which has greatly relieved his pain, so I want to buy more.”
Xu Nuo's drowsiness had dissipated. She put on a light jacket and sat down on the other side, saying, "Comrade Su Zhao, I don't have any on hand right now. How about this: I'll send you some tomorrow, and the rest once a month, okay?"
Su Zhao hesitated for a moment, and Xu Nuo added, "My friend needs time to make herbal tea, so we don't have that much right now."
Since that's been said, Su Zhao nodded quickly: "It was my oversight, I'm sorry to trouble Comrade Xu Nuo."
He hesitated for a moment, but still asked the question with his doubts: "What exactly is added to that herbal tea?"
Xu Nuo was most afraid of being asked this question, so she prepared her answer in advance: "I don't know either. It was made by a friend from my hometown. She is well-versed in medicine and often gets some medicinal herbs. Last time I broke my leg, I recovered very quickly after drinking this herbal tea."
Su Zhao's probing gaze fell on her face, then quickly returned to her: "I wonder which comrade did this? With such great ability, you can certainly help more people."
Xu Nuo raised her droopy eyebrows slightly and looked at him: "I'm sorry, I can't reveal it. That comrade doesn't want others to know, after all, this is a private transaction."
At this time, engaging in private trading was considered speculation and profiteering, and would result in arrest and imprisonment.
Su Zhao didn't ask any more questions, politely thanked Xu Nuo again, and gave her his address.
"If it's inconvenient for you, I can come and get it."
Xu Nuo saw him to the door, shook her head and said, "No need, I'll take it over as soon as I get it."
Su Zhao nodded and agreed.
When Chen Qingxia got home from get off work, she saw Su Zhao talking to her father in the living room, so she asked, "Did you buy that thing?"
Su Zhao shook his head: "Xu Jin'an's daughter said she'll buy it elsewhere and deliver it tomorrow."
Chen Qingxia snorted coldly, put the documents on the table, and said with a contemptuous tone, "This family makes excuses when they want to buy something, and now they're putting on airs."
Su Zhao had initially thought the Xu family was deliberately making excuses, but today he realized that wasn't the case, so he said, "It shouldn't be."
"What do you mean no? Do you think I don't know what Xu Jin'an is thinking? If he has something, he can just give it to you directly. You've made so many trips back and forth, and it's always the same story of 'if it's not delivered today, it'll be delivered tomorrow.' What are you trying to do?"
She's clearly trying to snag a rich husband.
Looking at her handsome son, Chen Qingxia felt very proud, but when she thought of the Xu family, she couldn't help but feel contempt.
Grandpa Chen sat on the sofa and said slowly, "Didn't you say that someone used to sell this herbal tea?"
Su Zhao nodded: "Some people sold them on the black market before, but that was a while ago, and they're not selling them anymore."
Grandpa Chen sighed in disappointment: "Then let that girl buy more, so I can get a few more good nights of sleep."
Chen Qingxia also said, "Yes, let her buy as much as she has. Our family will not shortchange her. By the way, did you ask her where she bought it from?"
Su Zhao shook his head: "She only said she bought it from a friend, but didn't say who."
Chen Qingxia snorted again: "Xu Jinan's daughter is scheming. I'll have someone investigate and see who she bought it from."
If Xu Nuo knew that Chen Qingxia, whom she had never met, had labeled her as a scheming woman who dreamed of marrying into a good family by selling herbal teas, she would probably say: "Making money is so hard."
…
Xu Nuo didn't have any herbal tea on hand, so she changed her clothes and decided to go to the black market to buy some.
Xu Yan had led her along the route before, and although she didn't remember it very clearly, she still managed to get there after many twists and turns.
The place is secluded and remote, and there aren't many people.
She came in disguise, dressed in all black, with a thin scarf covering half her face, revealing only her bright, almond-shaped eyes.
A slacker chuckled and stepped forward, asking, "Young man, what do you need? To exchange or buy? I have it all."
Before Xu Nuo could speak, a tall figure blocked her way. Although the man was thin and his face was pale with a sickly pallor, he did not appear weak at all. His slightly lowered eyes slowly fell on the face of the hooligan, like a ferocious beast whose territory had been invaded, ready to tear the enemy apart at any moment, fierce and dangerous.
The scoundrel took two steps back, a chill running down his spine: "Brother Li... Brother Li."
Li Xian didn't say anything, turned around and pulled her away, only asking her after she was outside, "What are you doing here?"
His face was gloomy and his tone was fierce. Xu Nuo felt like someone who had tried to do something wrong and was caught and punished in the street. She didn't know whether she was ashamed or angry. Her eyes were fixed on his chest, and she pursed her lips and didn't say anything.
He was very patient; he waited for her to answer, his gaze falling on her black eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings. Suddenly, he bent down, gently wiping the corner of her eye with his fingertip, and said in a soft voice, "You shouldn't be in a place like this."
Xu Nu blinked, feeling rather embarrassed. Her bad habit of involuntarily getting red-eyed when someone scolded her was really shameful. Not wanting to talk to him, she turned and walked towards the black market.
Li Xian pulled the person back.
Someone passed by, and Xu Nuo, afraid of being seen, pulled her scarf to cover her nose.
Li Xian leaned closer, blocking her way, his deep, dark eyes fixed on her.
His voice was low and hoarse: "What do you need? I'll help you."
