Chapter 20 I Refusal

She frowned slightly, and a very faint glimmer of light slowly flashed across her dark pupils, almost instantly disappearing:

"You know perfectly well that Su Lang is likely to hold a grudge against me, yet you still want me to testify on your behalf in the name of the Gourmet Hunter?"

The people in front of her knew that Jimmy's suggestion might cause her a lot of trouble, but they still begged him, even though they guessed that Su Lang might take his anger out on her because of Puka's death.

"Lady Milu...we are just afraid of Lord Su Lang's punishment."

"this……"

"Lady Milu, you've misunderstood—"

The few people who had just pleaded looked on with a flicker of their eyes and lowered their heads in shame.

One of them stammered as he spoke:

"Miss Milu..."

“I regret Puka’s death, but it has nothing to do with me, so I refuse to testify on your behalf.”

Xu Milu shook her head: "I'm leaving here. I don't know if the Mastiffs will come back, but I suggest you leave as soon as possible."

She understood from a young age that a person who is only kind-hearted will not live a good life.

Sometimes being a little selfish can make life more comfortable.

Jimmy looked her up and down, his eyes full of curiosity, as if he had discovered something interesting:

"Miss Milu, you are truly an interesting lady."

At this moment, Jimmy was no longer the timid man he was in front of Vera and Karp. He stood up straight, and his light-colored, tousled hair and azure eyes made his otherwise ordinary face appear quite handsome.

Xu Milu remained aloof, coldly replying, "Thank you for the compliment."

She suspected that Puka's death was related to Jimmy. Logically, the mastiffs shouldn't have returned so quickly, but she had no evidence.

Besides, it was this guy who suggested that she take the blame for Su Lang's anger, so Xu Milu naturally didn't give him a friendly look.

Jimmy shrugged, making a somewhat helpless expression:

"It seems you don't like me. Well then, good luck, and may the god of food bless you, Miss Milu."

He turned and left without the slightest hesitation.

...

...

When Xu Milu stepped out of the tent again, the Wolf Head Mercenary Group had already left. They took away the mangled remains of Puka, which had been gnawed away, as well as the bodies of their companions.

Jimmy has also disappeared.

That's a good thing.

The length of day and night in this world is similar to that on Earth. She looked at the watch on her wrist and found that it was just past nine o'clock.

Since the tent had already been shown to the Wolf Head Mercenary Group, Xu Milu simply packed the tent and other miscellaneous items into a large bag and carried it on her back, walking eastward in an attempt to find a village where she could stay for the night before the afternoon.

...

...

The Mastiff pack seemed to be the overlord of the Snow Valley. There were no other beast packs along Xu Milu's route. Even when she occasionally saw a few strange-looking wild animals, they quickly ran away.

There is a clever little beast that looks like a cat, with three long, thin tail feathers and its whole body is jet black.

[Storm Cat: Cat-like, with a volatile temperament.]

There were also small red birds, about the size of a mouse, with wings but only able to hop on the ground. When they saw a person, they would jump into the bushes and chirp loudly, making a "de de" sound.

[Bouncing Red Bird: Lives in bushes, feeds on berries, and has tender flesh.]

There is also a pale pink creature that resembles a jellyfish. It is semi-transparent all over, but it can fly like a dandelion with the help of the wind, moving among the flowers to collect nectar.

When the honeypot is full, a slightly swaying golden liquid appears in the transparent internal organs of these creatures, making them look exceptionally tempting.

[Peach Blossom Mica: A type of honeyworm that collects nectar and stores it inside its body. Its honey is of superior quality and can be used in dessert making.]

Xu Milu realized that the previous owner of this noodle jumper must have been a foodie, otherwise how could she explain that the descriptions of the ingredients were always so clear?

Everywhere you look, you see grass blades that resemble bread slices, brightly colored flowers, and gourd-shaped milky-white berries—all of which are food ingredients.

Breadgrass: Non-toxic, edible, named for its leaves resembling slices of toast. The leaves become soft and sweet after roasting. No capture grade.

[Delicious Dahlia: Non-toxic; the center of the flower secretes a unique nectar in autumn, which tastes like honey and can be eaten directly.]

Milkberry: Non-toxic, edible, a berry-bearing plant with clustered leaves; the fruit is oval, and the juice has a rich, milky flavor. No capture grade.

Xu Milu didn't know if she could make money in the Food World, but she knew she definitely wouldn't starve here...
