Traveling through the giant fruit forest, Xu Milu felt as if she had stumbled into a land of giants.
Everywhere you look, you can see mica trees with peach blossom-like tops, about half a person's height, dancing in the air collecting nectar, their golden nectar sparkling in the sunlight.
Above your head are ripe fruits of various colors; you can pick them simply by climbing the tree trunk.
A giant mushroom, as tall as a small building, will "pop" and release spores. At this time, black ants as tall as a person will crawl on the ground to collect them and then transport them into the ground.
Every now and then, a giant bear, as tall as a two-story building, would walk by, making a dull "thump! thump!" sound. The deep footprints left on the ground would soon become a gathering place for the beetles.
It's like a scene from a fairy tale.
Xu Milu blended into the dense forest in a strange way. As long as she didn't provoke the huge creatures, they would ignore her as if they didn't see her.
Before noon, Xu Milu finally arrived at the heart of the dense forest where the Ping Pong grapes were clustered, as marked on the map.
Looking out, countless vines twine around the giant tree, and bunches of huge grapes hang down. Under the sunlight, the grapes even have a glassy texture.
"Thump!"
A ripe grape suddenly fell and landed at Xu Milu's feet. Luckily, she dodged quickly, otherwise she would have been drenched in juice.
If you smell overripe grapes closely, they will emit a faint aroma of fermentation.
Xu Milu drew her curved knife and cut off one of the grapevines. A clear spring immediately gushed out from the broken end of the vine. She leaned over and took a sip, feeling her mouth filled with the fragrance of grass and plants.
"Gah."
The clown turtle in her arms seemed very happy to see the water source and kept struggling. Xu Milu simply found a large leaf, filled it with water, and put it in for a bath.
The clown turtle waved its short, stubby limbs constantly, clearly showing its excitement.
“A humble name is easier to raise. Otherwise, I’ll just call you Ah Chou and give you my surname, so you’ll be Xu Ah Chou.”
Xu Milu poked the clown turtle's head and made her decision with great pleasure.
"Gah."
Having acquired a name, Xu Achou patted the water with its paws, splashing water everywhere. Its green shell was wet, making it look like a sticky, messy clump of seaweed.
Alas--
Xu Milu reluctantly looked away, comforting herself that although she was a bit ugly, she would get used to it after a while.
...
...
According to the Aomori brothers, every winter, the Aomori mercenary group would send a large number of mercenaries into the dense forest to collect ping-pong grape seeds to take back and sell, which used to be one of the Wolf Head mercenary group's important sources of income.
Ping-pong grapes are a very unique plant. Their seeds are not grown inside the pulp of the ping-pong grape. In late spring and early summer, they grow a kind of bean-like fruit. After peeling it open, you will find individual ping-pong grape seeds.
It's not the best season to collect tree seeds now, but many withered pods are already hanging on the branches. Xu Milu's job is to knock them off one by one, extract the seeds, and then use gene editing technology to modify them.
"Thump!"
"Thump!"
"Thump!"
Mature tree saplings fell like raindrops, the noise scaring away large-tailed squirrels that were foraging nearby.
Xu Milu jumped down from the tree with her hands supporting her weight. Looking at the tree seeds all over the ground, she felt a strange joy of a bountiful harvest.
Peeling tree seeds is a really tedious job. After repeatedly taking seeds and peeling pods, Xu Milu started to feel sleepy in less than an hour.
Even the newborn Ah Chou lay on the ground and used his mouth to gnaw on bean pods and peel seeds—of course, just for fun.
It took Xu Milu most of the day to peel all these seeds. When the last pod was empty, she couldn't help but mutter to herself:
"Or maybe we should just buy tree seeds directly from the Aoki Mercenary Group next time."
But upon closer reflection, if she had purchased the tree seedlings from the Aoki Mercenary Group in the first place, wouldn't she have missed out on such a magical and magnificent sight?
Xu Milu comforted herself with a strong sense of self-deception.
The next second, her expression changed, and she almost sprang up from the spot. She reached out and gathered the tree seeds on the ground, picked up Ah Chou, and jumped onto the giant tree next to her, quickly climbing up the vines!
Something's coming this way!!
Xu Milu's entire back hair stood on end—a warning sign of danger!
"Whoosh—"
"Boom—click—"
"Shuashuashua——"
The sounds of trees snapping and branches breaking echoed, causing countless birds and beasts to flee in panic. In the distance, the canopy of the dense forest trembled violently as animals approached at incredible speed. At Xu Milu's current speed, there was simply no time for her to escape!
She looked around, then immediately grabbed a thick grapevine, pushed off with her feet, and used the momentum to swing herself to a higher place.
This is an extremely thick ancient tree; a person standing in front of it looks like an ant.
Xu Milu crouched on the tree trunk, holding her breath and looking in that direction, ready to return to Earth at any moment.
Her curiosity was quickly satisfied.
A thick, giant snake crawled out of the forest, its belly scales rubbing against the ground, making a teeth-grinding "rustling" sound. The snake's head was a strange bird face, and wherever its sharp beak passed, tree trunks snapped in two!
"Boom——"
"Boom——"
Xu Milu recognized it as a bird-faced anaconda. The bird-faced anacondas outside the Black Stone Forest were of normal size, but this one was clearly beyond her comprehension!
It was a hundred meters long, with a thick, cylindrical body comparable to an elephant and a diameter of more than five meters. Just looking at such a behemoth, she couldn't help but gasp.
