A certain white-haired prince could be seen resting his head against the bark of a tree. He was sitting on the highest branch with one leg pulled up, and the other stretched out in front of him with his eyes closed somewhere around the premises of the palace, close to the fence.
There was no one else in sight apart from him, and that particular tree he was sitting on had no leaves. Though it was incredibly tall, it looked very dried out like one of those creepy-looking trees that grow in the deepest of forests. There were no stars in the night sky, and the silence was very bothersome... like the calm before the storm.
Zoan was sitting so very still that one passing by would never guess that there was someone there, and the only thing that could give him away was the white attire he was putting on. His lips were dried, and a little of his hair had been thrown over his face, forming dark unseen shadows over his eyes.
When he finally opened his eyes in a steadfast motion, his pupils glowed as small streaks of pearl shimmers had formed around them, giving his demeanor an even horrific yet beautiful candent, but then he blinked and it was all gone. It seems he had opened his eyes for a specific reason because someone had just arrived.
That piercing gave of his brother’s reached his skin, and Zoan’s eyes twitched as he turned and stared down at Aragon. While Zoan eyed his brother like he was everything wrong in this world and beyond, Aragon maintained that stoic expression. If the night air was cold before, then it had turned a little warmer now as it sparkled with their raging intensities. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Was ten years enough to turn your memories into dust? I warned you this place was off limits, Brother." Zoan shattered the silence.
"And you’re still stuck ten years back, Zo," Aragon replied nonchalantly as he stepped closer to the tree, blatantly ignoring the warning that had just been growled at him.
"Don’t put your filthy hands on this tree ever again, or else you know who will suffer the consequences!"
"There’s nothing else that can make me feel more filthy Zo. So why not go ahead? I only came here to have a brotherly chat with you." Before His Majesty’s finger could reach out and inch closer to the bark of the tree, Zoan was already standing right there to smack his hand away from it with gritted teeth.
"You do not want to test me, brother!"
Their gazes clashed again, "Oh, I see. You still haven’t gotten over what happened that night now, have you?" Aragon said, tilting his head a little to the side in question.
"Can you even hear yourself?" Zoan asked in disbelief, his eyes dancing in awe and pure rage, "Aragon, Can you as hell listen to yourself because I’ll as hell warn you not to test me for the last time."
"You can’t kill me," Aragon responded, still looking very calm and collected, "And you left Erandell a long time ago. Let’s not sweat the details and stop making empty threats at your little brother that has lived longer than you,"
Those words shouldn’t have made any sense, but Zoan sure made sense out of them. His knuckles were tightly clenched, and his eyes spoke highly of the war he was waging on in his mind. He knew he was a complete mess, but there was an even bigger mess standing in front of him. If he could find the slightest opening to get rid of this mess, then he would without a second thought, "Empty threats? You sure as hell do underestimate me."
"And you shouldn’t dare to bite more than you can chew," Aragon replied, his eyes darkening a little further than before.
"Oh, I see," Zoan suddenly Burst into a wicked and cringy kind of laughter, "This is about the letter right? Well, it wasn’t hard to figure out she was your wife since you actually got married to her so very openly. It’s stupid how no one still has no idea she’s your wife. Ah, I see..." Something blasphemous ran past his eyes, "You’re hiding her title because of That. Someone like you isn’t..." And then his voice died off, and something incorrigibly infamous and highly unbelievable had his eyes broadening.
No, it can’t be.
It’s... impossible.
"Zo, why are you back?!" Aragon’s deep voice pulled him back to the present.
That made Zoan think that his brother might be trying to avoid the topic, but the brother he knew wasn’t that kind of person. If Zoan knew and believed in this, then why did he still have doubts in his mind? It should have been washed away the second the thought drifted into him.
"Because it’s my home, dear brother. It’s not like I’m some mischievous being that’s here to see and experience your downfall, right?"
"I see," Aragon turned around, walking away.
"it almost skipped my mind. How is your wife feeling now? I heard she was badly injured and unconscious now. You should be glad that’s all she got out with. She must be a special one right? Do you still think she’s human to be able to keep up with those vampires? No actually, what surprised me the most was how she walked into the forest looking like a ticking time bomb that was close to exploding. Mind you, I’m not too surprised that she reacted like that after all, of all the men out there who could be the perfect Gentleman for her, she chose to be with the monster amongst monsters,"
"Coal, was it?" Aragon glanced back at his brother. As Zoan wondered why Aletta’s name was being brought into the conversation, his Majesty continued, "It’s strange and weird how we keep choosing women that could bring about our downfall." Everywhere fell silent again, only the sound of the breeze blowing by could be heard.
Leaving Zoan to ponder alone on his words, Aragon headed back to his chambers to see how the bath was going.
