This Chapter is dedicated to you!
He looked a little different from the last time she saw him. His hair which was always only had a few locks running down his eyes now had many strands pooling down his face, and his eyes looked different too. The strength of his aura didn’t lighten at all, instead, she got the feeling that it had gotten worse overnight.
Zoan was right before her, and it was triggering her heart to thud faster and faster. Aletta didn’t want to feel care towards him, she wanted to get rid of the feeling and just move on with her life. How could she be so stupid to have told him she loved him? No, not to a man like him. Last night, she had taken her time to think this through and she wondered if it was truly love she felt for him.
She would have met any other person. Who knows? Maybe her heart was also fragile enough to fall in love with anyone. Zoan just happened to be there, and there were no two ways about it. He was capable of making any woman’s heart race like hell, and one stare could melt her into a poodle. Aletta didn’t even know him that much, and that was when she concluded to herself that it wasn’t love.
She was just infatuated and oddly fascinated with him. He was tall and handsome, and Dear lord, anyone would fall in love at first sight right? A Month of carrying his things around, getting lost in the forest, and getting injured or tripping while trying to find him that been adventurous actually, but she needed to realize that she cannot keep following him around anymore.
Not to mention, but he was dangerous for her. There are boundaries for these things, and she was very foolish to have even thought of staying close to him.
Taking a deep breath, she stared into those steel smokey eyes that could consume her if she gazed for too long, "Is there a reason why you’re standing in my way, your highness?" She uttered softly.
"Coal, Let us go for a walk," He responded smoothly, tucking his hands into his pants.
"I’m afraid I’ll have to decline your invitation, your highness. As you can see," She gestured toward Caius who had surprisingly not said a word the whole time, like he was studying the both of them with those big eyes of his, "I’m already busy with someone else, so if you’ll excuse me," Aletta replied with a curt nod before she slowly turned around to walk away, but he was standing right in front of her again. Aletta gasped, flinching back a little.
"I’m afraid you’re not allowed to say No. I need to go on a walk with you. Or would you prefer it if I... do something worse?" He had whispered the last time, which had the redhead getting chills and feeling giddy. Why does his voice have to sound so hypnotizing?
Now she was getting infuriated again. Aletta pulled her free hand up in the air with the urge to slap his face and get him out of her sight. She didn’t care about the warning that flashed across his face when he understood what she was about to do, because she was going to do it anyways. Her palm came down straight to her own cheeks, the loud sound echoing slightly against the walls before everywhere grew silent again.
She had to do that to herself, or else she knew she might have given in to him. That slap was to help her pull herself back up, and when she looked into his eyes again, he saw the immovable gaze there. Her red hand prints were now visible on her face, and then... Aletta raised her hands again and added one more slap on that same cheeks.
"Your highness, Do your worst!" She sneered at him, before she walked past him. She even intentionally bumped her small shoulders against his as she went by, pulling Caius with her who wouldn’t stop glancing back at Zoan. Aletta kept up with that strong look in her eyes, till she was sure he wasn’t following her and there was no one around.
She wasn’t going to regret her actions, but she needed to yell into something, or pull her hair...or just...
She fell on her knees and ended up hugging Caius instead, "I really need to get out of here, but your aunt won’t let me. What am I supposed to do? Do I have to keep slapping myself anytime he’s around from now on?" She chattered loudly against his ears, mewling at the same time, "Why does he wants to go on a walk with me? Do you think he’s trying to get back at me for what I did yesterday? I don’t know what to do!!"
After a minute or so, she got back to her feet and got a hold of herself again. She noticed that Caius had been awfully quiet the whole time they went around the place just looking around. This time, Etta didn’t want to get lost so she made sure they didn’t stray too far since the palace was so big. Caius only occasionally pointed at stuff that intrigued him, and there was one particular Statue of a sitting dog he had ran over and began studying it.
He had his hand placed on his chin, his brows creased as he walked around the Statue over and over again.
"You know, in the stories that Aunt Ana read, these objects usually have a button that leads to some underground route! I’m trying to find that button." He spoke for the first time, and Aletta couldn’t believe how serious he was trying to find the ’ secret ’ button.
"Why are you more interested in this particular one? We have been walking by many statures, right?" She moved closer to him, her lips stretching into a small smile.
"Because it’s the only different one amongst the rest of them,"
"It’s just a sitting dog,"
"It’s not a dog Miss Alet. It’s the one and only ancient statue of a wolf, also called the hunters of the night,"
