Chapter 78: You’re welcome.

As soon as the spinning tip of the spear touched that palm, it turned void immediately. Instantly, the rotation of the heaviness that the spear had been reeking came to a stop, and for a split second, it felt so light in Raziah and Aletta’s hands. But right before they could take advantage of the sudden change and pull it away, the whole thing dissolved into ash and scattered unto the ground.

Raziah couldn’t count how many times she’s been left speechless ever since all this started happening around her. She kept staring at the palm, seeing how even though the spear had only come running into the palm, there was only a small streak of blood running down it and the little injury he had sustained had already stitched up itself and his palm was as good as new again.

Finally, she looked up at her husband who had shown up out of nowhere. Their eyes held each other, and the light from the moon was partially on his face. He looked like the dark person she knew him to be, but something about that light touching him threw her off again. She couldn’t explain the reaction that came with it, like warning bells ringing loudly at the very front of her mind which had her quickly taking a step back.

She had to always keep herself in control, so she made sure her face didn’t give anything away. It simply looked like she hadn’t been expecting him to be there, and her first thought was that it was a threat that had shown up and that was why she took that step back.

"You’re welcome." He said to her, pulling her out of her trance.

Raziah only nodded back at him, then she ignored his presence and returned her attention to Caius again. Thankfully, they’d stopped the spear from doing damage to him, and Zoan had already unwrapped him from the chains around his body and picked up Caius in his arms, whom was now unconscious.

"I..is he still breathing?" Aletta asked, stepping closer to Zoan to take a sneak peek at Caius’s tired face. Apart from the sustained injuries, he looked fine to her but they would still need to take him back to Fabia as soon as possible.

"Yes, Coal," Zoan replied with a lazy smile directed at her, and Aletta suddenly felt cautious around him again. Her eyes flew open, and she had to hold back from taking one step away from him. From everything happening, it had somehow skipped her mind that she had said yes to his demands, but that smile had brought everything back crashing into her head again.

"I see." She quickly looked away from him with an itchy throat and trembling lashes under his suffocating gaze. Next thing she knew, he was all over her again and that wasn’t the worst part.

He had his arm around her waist, while the other was holding Caius with his head resting on Zoan’s shoulders.

"What are you doing?!" She demanded.

Then, he pulled her closer till she was very much pressed against his chest and there was no means of escape for her, "Getting out of here, of course!"

Once again, there was a sudden rush of air around them and Zoan was immediately out of sight with Aletta badly clutching onto him for dear life.

"I still find it very hard to believe you’re human, Mally." Ren, the Vampire who was battling Malcolm spoke up as he quickly backed away from Malcolm, "I would have loved to keep this up, but we are outnumbered now and I have to get going!" Ren’s red eyes trailed over to where Aragon and Raziah stood alone now, making Malcolm’s eyes subconsciously shift over to see what he was looking at when Ren took advantage of the distraction he had caused.

Fortunately, the witch Zoan had strangled had managed to get her bearings correct again and was now muttering an escape spell. She needed to get out of there as fast as she could, and a small portal just enough for one person was already opening right in front of her.

As luck would have it, she had managed to escape for a certain reason. Even though she was still being choked by the smoke around her throat, the spell had successfully activated and she quickly hurled herself into it, just when she heard the other vampire’s sneaky laugh as he also dived in with her, right before the small portal shut close...with whisps of dark elements falling on the sandy floor.

Since Caius was already being taken back to his aunt, Raziah saw no reason why she should keep being here. Well, most of the reason she was in a hurry to leave right now was because of the sudden presence of her husband, but as usual, it was all about playing it nice and cool.

"Where are you going?!" He demanded sternly, making her pause.

She glimpsed back at his towering figure standing behind her, "You don’t look injured to me, your Majesty." She replied, then took off toward Malcolm who had a few deep cuts on his body, and was also bleeding from the neck. Ren was one heck of a tough Vampire to kill, but after their second time fighting to the death, Malcolm was now seeing a few openings he could use to defeat him next time.

Raziah walked over to her friend, at the same time she pulled up the edge of her dress and tore a huge part of it, ignoring the shooting ache of her fingers that she had abused once again. She took the piece of clothing and pressed it against his bleeding neck to hold back the blood at least, "Come on, we need to get you back to the palace." She told him, and could already see him about to complain.

Yes, her husband was behind her but her priority would always be him, especially when he was losing a lot of blood right now. She glared at him back fiercely, and you could see them conversing with just their eyes the way they always did. He was trying to tell her that he was ok, while she was responding to that with a heartfelt glare that said he was lying straight to her face.

"I’ll get him back to the palace right away," Felix approached them, and was almost turned into ice when Raziah snapped her frigid gaze at him.

"He escaped," Malcolm told Felix, referring to Ren.

"I barely saw him with the first witch. They left through a small portal, but the prince already has one of them in his clutches." Felix informed, and both warriors nodded at each other as Malcolm bowed slightly and walked over to Felix.

Raziah squeezed her eyes shut for a moment since no one was watching her. She just wanted to leave her husband, but unfortunately for her, he’s standing right behind her again.
