"Face me."
Raziah turned around to look at him standing there. Her eyes weren’t exactly on his face so this time she noticed the set of clothes he was putting on. It looked like he had also rushed to wear his clothes because they looked a little squeezed, and the colors don’t match each other. A simple shirt and pants and his hair was looking a little wet.
"It’s ten minutes to midnight." He said again, making her almost freeze. Does he plans to take her back and continue from where he stopped? They stared at each other for a short while, before he took her hands in his. Her good hand was what he held in his, and she noticed there was this strange look in his eyes.
She looked down to see that he now had his index finger and thumb wrapped around her ring finger, then she felt his other hand tipping her chin up so she was staring up at him again. That strange look was gone as fast as it came, and now she was just curious as to what he wanted to do with her finger.
"Eyes on me, don’t look." He ordered, and now she was in anticipation. Everywhere was so silent around them as they stood a bit far from the altar, and then she began to feel it. He had tightened his grip on that particular finger of hers, and there was a burning sensation settling over the whole spot. Like someone was actually burning her with real fire around that whole finger, very close to the base of it.
His fingers circumvented the whole perimeter, pressing harder as she went till she could see steam floating in the air between them. He just kept on with what he was doing, and now she had questions brewing inside of her. Is he planning to burn her finger out? What exactly is he trying to achieve? As usual, his eyes weren’t expressive at all, and she could hardly wait for it to be over.
And then...it was. He stopped Rolling his fingers around the spot, and the afterburn settled around her finger. It felt hot and kind of heavy there. Her finger was throbbing a little, but she knew soon enough her body temperature would cool down the area again.
Snaking around her hand weirdly made her feel he was now up to something else. He grabbed her wrists softly this time and she was already imagining another inflammation of the whole area when he raised her whole hand till it stopped between their faces. She could still sight his eyes between her fingers that were trying to block her view, but then... something gave out a lit and beautiful Candace.
She couldn’t help but look in that direction, only to find herself staring at her finger. The finger had just been burnt, but there wasn’t a burnt mark around the place, instead, there was...a ring.
It was radiant, and just the right size for her finger. The color was the same as his hair, and the feel on her hand told her that it was made from a powerful type of material that cannot be easily broken or scratched out. What really stood out most in the ring was this small writings around it she couldn’t decipher, and they had a certain golden glow embedded at situated parts of it. The ring wasn’t like anything she’s seen before due to its weird hexagonal shape, but it was so beautiful.
When did he...did he wear it on her finger while he was burning her? Or...did he create it himself around her finger? Now she couldn’t keep the questions out of her eyes as she stared back up at him, only to see that he had also raised his large palm in front of her...and a similar ring sat there.
The only difference between hers and his was that his was golden in color, and the embedded part of it had dark streaks at different parts, and he had worn it on his middle finger.
"Just for your finger," He uttered.
She looked at him again, "Why..."
Her voice was shut off when he abruptly pulled her to his chest. Her lips were pressed softly against his shoulders, while her eyes peeked out about the height of his shoulders staring Into the distance.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" He asked.
Raziah’s face turned sour. What exactly didn’t she tell him because there’s like a mountain of information she’s kept locked away from him, so which one? If only he could be more specific. Doesn’t matter though, because her reply would remain the same, "That would be because I don’t trust you." She replied flatly.
He chuckled against her hair, and she rolled her eyes. What was so funny about what she said?!
They turned silent again, then he asked after another minute had passed, "How...old are you today?"
Raziah’s face turned even sourer. She was already trying to forget it was still her birthday, and he just had to come up with it. Right, Zoan had blurted it out during that drama while they were dancing.
"Twenty..." And her eyes widened. He knows she’s twenty-two since he was at the grand castle that night. Information would have spread about both Princesses being introduced that night, and there’s no doubt that her age was said too. So, it would be confusing to him if she was twenty-two yesterday, and she tells him she’s twenty-four today, "Twenty Three..."
"Four." He whispered, and her eyes dilated even more. Her legs began to grow weak, but she didn’t say anything. Did Zoan tell him about that too? It was extremely silent again, and she could hear her pounding heart very loud, and there was no doubt that he could hear and feel it too, "Four... minutes till Midnight. Are you that nervous, hazel?"
Gosh! This man was gonna give her a heart attack soon. So that was what he meant. But why...Why wasn’t her mind completely agreeing with him? She felt as if he had just said that to cover up her suspicions. She couldn’t even believe anything anymore. What EXACTLY does he knows?!
That was when she sighted something written on the wall. With her eyes barely peeking up from his shoulders, they zoomed in on what was scribbled on the walls of the altar, the same spot Caius had been inbounded to.
Dear Lord... Raziah’s mind swirled into pandemonium.
