Chapter 187 Dispute during class
"Jade, have I ever told you that I founded a house-elf rights promotion association?"
After the passion paper, Hermione held her cauldron, which was stuffed with Defense Against the Dark Arts textbooks and some shiny badges with the letters sPew on them.
"I don't think so. Can you tell me?"
Hermione's eyes suddenly brightened. She supported the crucible with her elbows as if she had met a close friend, and held Jian Yu's hands with both hands:
"I know you understand me! Our short-term goal is to ensure that house-elves receive reasonable wages and a good working environment..."
She was still talking about her long-term goals in high spirits, but Jian Yu's attention was occupied by "house-elves" and "wages".
The scene of Dobby waving his fingers and shouting "Come on! Work hard! Work hard" immediately entered her mind.
"That makes sense." She quickly affirmed, "If you have such elves, you are welcome to come and work for me. Food, accommodation and salary are provided..."
What a quality workforce!
She wished she could recruit all the house-elves in the UK to work for her!
Hermione looked so touched that she almost fainted, her eyes were wet:
"My God - you're the first person who understands me - I knew you were ahead of your time -"
"Ron looks at those badges like they're bugs! He says they like being slaves, which is ridiculous! With a mindset like his -"
She paused.
Because Jane saw the object of her cricketing appeared in the corridor, with Harry standing next to him and Draco and Blaise standing opposite him.
They were surrounded by four bewildered Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs.
It sounded like they were having a new round of arguments over a group assignment.
"I can't believe it's been nearly a week and you haven't written a single word, Weasley."
Blaise looked at Ron as if he were looking at a smelly bug. His cheekbones seemed to have become higher, and his eyes drooped.
"I really doubt that you didn't bring your brain with you when you came to school. Do you want to ask the principal to let you go home and get it again?"
Ron's face turned as red as his hair and he shot back angrily:
"The paper is due at the end of the semester - why are you starting now? I think you just don't want to work -"
"I need you to find some information to prepare for the Pre and the speech." Blaise sneered, "It's been a week, and you haven't even opened your textbook?"
That really hit home, because Hermione looked certain, but Ron's face looked like it was going to explode.
Draco and Harry next to them were arguing even more. Draco shouted sarcastically:
"Damn Scarhead - where's the information? Did you leave your brain at home like Weasley did?"
"When will you catch the train back to pick up your brain? Or jump into the Black Lake and use the water to cleanse your brain! Don't drag down the entire team!"
"What about your completed template, Malfoy?" Harry shot back, as he and Hermione clutched Ron by the back of his robes to stop him lunging at Zabini. "Did you lose your brain too? Or did you swap it with your peacock's brain?"
As the argument became increasingly heated, both sides began to take out their wands.
"Bang!"
Several people screamed, and a trembling ferret suddenly appeared where Draco had been.
Jian Yu turned around and found Professor Moody limping down the stairs.
That Transfiguration spell was obviously cast by him.
Teaching a transfiguration student is unbelievable.
In the past few years, not even Quirrell, who was possessed by Voldemort, had ever treated students like this.
Jian Yu frowned.
"Finite lncantatem!"
She recalled the sound of Professor Flitwick chanting a spell and cast one tentatively.
The ferret turned back into a human, and Draco, with tears in his eyes, shrank behind her.
"Don't move!"
Moody yelled, which might work on others, but it didn't scare Jian Yu.
She was eager to irritate the new professor. Although her chances of getting expelled by doing so were slim, she didn't mind giving it a try.
"I don't think there's any punishment for deforming students in school," she challenged.
The onlookers gasped.
Moody stared at her with both his normal and abnormal eyes, pointed the tip of his wand at her, and shouted gruffly:
"Oh, really? Well, now you have it, Professor Contrary, maybe you want to become a ferret too—"
He didn't have the chance to utter his threats because Jian Yu's spell was fired faster than his.
Three years have passed, and she has yet to try to give the professor a couple of hits!
The other professors were all pretty nice, so she was too embarrassed to start with them.
The only thing we can do is to curse this professor who has no professional ethics.
By the way, try out her body deformation technique.
As the Transfiguration spell was chanted, a ferret suddenly appeared where Moody was!
He obviously did not expect that a student would dare to attack the professor, so he was not too prepared and the Transfiguration spell hit him directly.
"Stop it—Stop it—Jade Jane!"
Professor McGonagall rushed down the stairs, and the books she had been holding fell to the ground.
Moody turned back into human form, his eyes full of disgust towards Jian Yu. His eyes, ears, nose, tongue and mouth were all twisted together, and he roared angrily:
"Hurt Professor, I think you want to suffer a little!"
He seemed unable to control himself and was about to teach her a lesson with his wand, but was stopped by Professor McGonagall who was standing in the middle.
She looked uneasy, looking from Moody to her, then she asked loudly:
"Y-what are you doing?"
Harry suddenly stood between them, causing Moody and Professor McGonagall to look at him in surprise.
"It's not the jade!" he shouted back. "Professor Moody turned Malfoy into a ferret - she's helping him -"
"Good God!" cried Professor McGonagall. "Moody, we never use Transfiguration as punishment! You can give him detention, or report him to the Headmaster -"
"I will do that." Moody glared at Jian Yu with disgust. "Why not report it directly to the principal and ask him to take care of the students who attack professors in the school."
This was exactly what Jian Yu wanted, so she continued to provoke:
"That's a good suggestion. Why don't we go to the principal's office now?"
Moody was so angry that he almost pushed Professor McGonagall away and hexed her.
"Stop!" Professor McGonagall shouted, "Moody, if you don't mind, I'll take the child away first--"
Moody's eyes rolled wildly in his sockets, and he walked down the steps as if he was pushing the boat, shouting in a rough voice:
"McGonagall, I suggest you teach this disobedient student a lesson—"
Professor McGonagall brought Jane Yu to her office in a hurry. She pulled open a chair and motioned for her to sit down.
"Jade - I was supposed to take you to Albus, but he's busy at the moment -"
"I know you're angry about what Professor Moody did, but Albus hired him to ensure the safety of the Triwizard Tournament."
Jian Yu curled her lips in displeasure. Although their only interaction was the action of transforming into a ferret in the corridor, she always felt that something was strange.
Perhaps Moody knew he was in the wrong and didn't dare to go to the principal's office with her.
Or maybe Professor McGonagall's filter for her was as thick as a city wall, and she didn't even report to Dumbledore when she attacked the professor.
"He was a battle-hardened Auror, the best Dark wizard catcher in the history of the Ministry of Magic."
"After so many deaths, he became suspicious, even delusional."
Professor McGonagall gave two more examples to prove his neurosis, such as the sudden attack on a witch who made noises behind him on April Fool's Day and smashing a birthday present just because he thought there was a disguised basilisk egg inside.
Jian Yu understood.
Perhaps this is a kind of aftereffect of war.
The professor was severely traumatized, which is why he turned his students into ferrets.
She couldn't help but let out a sigh.
She felt a little sorry for attacking such a brave man.
But after this day, Moody seemed to be at odds with her.
