Chapter 98 Leisure Time

Caroline's eyes flickered, her light green eyes darting around playfully. She mumbled something indistinctly, seemingly deliberately making it impossible for anyone to understand what she was saying. She then glanced at the two people in front of the table.

"Alright, you guys continue eating. I'm going to find Bernie now and ask him to arrange a new cabin for me."

"Huh? Who's Bernie?" Phil Gray asked, his questioning look making Caroline burst into laughter.

"Of course it's that fat guy you just mentioned who's in charge of managing the ship's resources. You don't even know his name?"

Phil Gray chuckled, then saw Caroline stand up and tap on their table. "Oh, by the way, you haven't formally introduced yourselves to me yet, but I heard him call you Phil, right? Phil—"

Eli gave an innocent look; he had only called out the boss's name because he was in a hurry.

“Alright, let me formally introduce myself. My name is Phil, a follower of the Day Prophet, and I have joined the Cult of Dawn. He is Eli, a follower of the God of Life.”

"What do you mean 'considered'? You already have a sun brooch, so you must be one of our church members, although I don't think I've ever seen you before. Alright, alright, I'm leaving." Caroline said goodbye to them, lifted her skirt, and left the restaurant.

"What do you think she's hiding?" Phil Gray asked thoughtfully.

“What else could it be? I don’t believe their bishop let her handle the Malu Island church alone. She probably sneaked out and didn’t know what was important. If we hadn’t happened to be on this ship, she and these passengers would have been killed by Tang’s boning knife.” Eli shook his head helplessly, set the plates in front of him, and called a waiter over.

“Well, she’s only at the Blessing level. If we have time after we’ve dealt with Patrick, we can help her out,” Phil Gray said.

“Boss, you haven’t even officially become a Holy Son yet, how come you’re already thinking about the Dawn Cult?” Eli laughed.

"After all, meeting each other is an arrangement of fate."

After their meal, Phil Gray and Eli walked out of the restaurant and leaned against the railing of the ship, looking at the boundless sea before them, where ripples occasionally appeared in the breeze.

Phil Gray closed his eyes and drew the symbol of the flower of destiny on his chest. This was the first time he had prayed so devoutly to the god of fate.

"I hope Patrick is doing well."

During his time in the world of Will, he truly regarded Patrick as his cousin. Perhaps one day in the future, he will choose to honestly reveal his true identity to his companions, as he is, not as Phil Gray.

He opened his eyes and saw Eli's gentle smile.

"Don't worry, since you've said that, I believe your god will grant your request. Wait, it seems you also have the god of death and the daytime prophet? Why don't you pray to them one by one?"

Phil Gray shook his head, thinking the other two wouldn't be so easy to talk to.

"Look!" After standing idly for a while, Eli suddenly pointed to a spot on the sea and exclaimed with delight.

Phil Gray looked in the direction he was pointing, and the fleetingly beautiful figure almost made him think it was an illusion.

It was a huge fish tail, splashing white waves as it lapped the seawater. Its dazzling blue scales were more breathtaking than the purest blue crystal, but it disappeared into the sea in an instant.

What is that?

Eli said with some regret, "It's such a pity. You didn't see his upper body. You probably only saw the fish tail entering the sea, right?"

"Upper body? You mean she's the mermaid Patrick's always wanted to see? I knew that fishtail was so beautiful!" Phil Gray smirked, still amazed by the scene he had just witnessed.

“Yes, I’ve seen them a few times when I traveled by ship from the Western Continent to the Eastern Continent. They are the darlings of the sea goddess. They not only have beautiful appearances but also the divine power of the ocean. You might not even be able to beat one of these mermaids,” Eli said with a smile.

"Huh? That's amazing?" Phil Gray was somewhat surprised; this was different from the mermaid he had imagined.

"Of course, without the protection of the powerful ocean gods, they might have perished long ago. Didn't you see before that someone was buying up their scales in the Church of Life's newspaper?"

"Um."

"Isn't Patrick most eager to see mermaids? The appearance of mermaids might be the gods telling you not to worry about him, that he has his own destiny and mission to fulfill, isn't it?"

After Eli finished speaking, without waiting for Phil Gray's reply, he took out a bright green leaf from his space stone. The melodious tune, accompanied by the gentle sea breeze, dispelled the sorrow in his heart.

Believe in fate; it will always have the best arrangement.

...

After waiting for about a day and a half, Gold Coin No. 3 finally saw a passenger ship bearing the insignia of a commercial church sailing towards them.

Bernie shouted toward the top deck, "Oh, you've finally arrived! It's Gold Coin Nine, just as slow as ever."

After the two ships were connected by a sturdy passage, a man wearing a purple twill silk jacket and black knee-high boots walked over. He looked like he had thick eyebrows and big eyes, was capable and efficient, and had a slightly arrogant expression.

"What do you know? If it weren't for the need to pick you up and set off early, we could have sold at least another third of the tickets."

Bernie went up to him and said, "Alright, alright, Myron, we're all from the same church, why make such a fuss?"

"Hmph, it's obvious you don't usually follow my lord's divine decrees seriously. Every gold coin you miss is a disrespect to your soul and life."

Myron took out another gold coin from his pocket, sniffed it, and said, "If I hadn't sensed that there might be a chance to make a lot of money by coming to pick you up, I wouldn't have come."

"What money can you make on the way back?" Bernie muttered, but very quietly, before pointing to the storage box on his nail.

“They are all pitiful people inside. Take them back to the mainland. I have already notified the Kingdom of Lanxi. They will come to claim these dead. I'm entrusting these to you.”

Phil Gray and Eli stood nearby, mainly wanting to witness firsthand how the remains could be successfully brought back to land by Gold Coin Nine.

"Alright, didn't you already give the instructions? I know, I guarantee I'll complete the mission!" Myron patted his chest. "You don't trust our captain, but don't you trust me? My adherence to integrity is as strong as my love for gold coins."

"Good, good, good! I know you've done a great job carrying out the oracle!" Bernie laughed.

Phil Gray was relieved to see that the crew of Gold Coin Nine had carried away all the storage boxes containing the remains.

He apologized to Bernie and hurried back to his house.

As the last box was delivered to Gold Coin No. 9, he felt a chilling deathly power flowing through his body.

Looks like we're going to advance!
