Old friends
"A second time? No way! If we did it again, wouldn't that just be letting Gu Sidu off easy?" Jiang Yufan would never act so recklessly with Gu Sidu in the Buddhist hall a second time. She and Gu Sidu didn't come out of the Buddhist hall until the next day, their faces thin and haggard, making people wonder what had happened in the Buddhist hall.
Those who understand will understand; no further explanation is needed.
When Jiang Yufan came out of the Buddhist hall, she noticed that the servants around her were covering their mouths and snickering. When she asked them why they were laughing, they didn't say anything and just went about their own business. However, their busyness was tinged with a hint of peeping.
Jiang Yufan soon found out that it was all Gu Sidu's fault. Gu Sidu couldn't control his desires, which is why the servants kept asking about their gossip every day.
Three years passed quietly and happily. During these three years, Gu Sidu and Jiang Yufan lived in harmony. The house they had bought before was used by Daoyun as a new training ground, specifically for practicing martial arts and giving lectures.
Unlike before, Jiang Yufan became more and more skilled at styling her hair, and increasingly exuded the demeanor of a matriarch. Gradually, everyone forgot that there was once a goddess-like bodhisattva who had descended to earth in Chang Le City. Without the shackles of worldly life, everyone was diligently living their own lives.
Until one day, a child covered in blood appeared in Chang Le City.
It's true that they call it a child; the child looks to be only a teenager, even a few years younger than Qin Zhiyi, whom they rescued. It was Qin Zhiyi who discovered the child.
Now Qin Zhiyi has successfully become Daoyun's subordinate in the county government. When he was patrolling the city, he discovered this child. He took precautions and held his sword in front of the child to ensure that the child was not in any danger before slowly lowering his sword.
The child was still alive, and after wiping the blood off his body, he was cared for at home. Qin Zhiyi then reported the matter to Daoyun. Any emergencies or visitors had to be reported to Daoyun first, who would then decide whether to keep the child in Chang Le City.
Dao Yun frowned upon hearing Qin Zhiyi's words. She looked at Qin Zhiyi and asked, "Where did you put him? Did you leave him at your house?"
"Yes, my parents are taking care of him."
"If there's danger, wouldn't your parents be in peril?" Dao Yun picked up his sword and asked Qin Zhiyi to take her to see the child.
Qin Zhiyi was not as wary as Dao Yun. He simply said, "I don't think that child has any bad intentions. He's wearing fine silk and satin, which no one can afford. He must be from a wealthy family."
"Has he ever woken up? What's his personality like?" Dao Yun completely ignored Qin Zhiyi's words.
"He was awake. When he first opened his eyes, he was very shy and didn't dare to eat or drink. But after seeing us take a bite, he felt relieved and ate. However, the child doesn't say his name and complains that our food is not fit for human consumption. He also complains when we change his clothes."
"What kind of rich young master is he?" Dao Yun rolled his eyes. "Did he put on his clothes in the end?"
“Then he should wear it, otherwise he won’t be able to bear walking around naked in the world.”
Dao Yun chuckled softly and followed Qin Zhiyi to see the child.
As soon as they arrived at the Qin family's house, they heard the sounds of pots and pans being smashed everywhere. Daoyun sensed something was wrong and stepped inside before Qin Zhiyi. She saw the culprit: the boy who had been rescued was throwing a tantrum at the Qin family, saying he wanted to go back and eat and use the best food.
Daoyun also heard him say that all the money in your family will be for me to use from now on.
What a boastful tone.
Dao Yun heard the Qin family's distressed voices. Before the next sound of slamming doors and smashing bowls could arrive, Dao Yun directly raised his sword. With a flash of cold light, the sword was aimed directly at the child's neck.
Then it quieted down.
After Dao Yun finished making this gesture, Qin Zhiyi stepped forward and said to the boy, "You ungrateful brat, aren't you? If it weren't for me, you would have died long ago. I saved you, and you're so ungrateful. Our family doesn't owe you anything."
The child raised his head, staring at Qin Zhiyi with a pair of hateful eyes.
The coldness and jealousy in his eyes seemed to come from nowhere. He should have been an obedient child, not someone with such a violent temper.
With a sword held to his neck, the child finally suppressed his hatred. He said, "Let me go. If you don't let me go, just kill me. If you kill me, my family will come looking for me, and they will definitely take revenge on you."
"Who are you, and why have you come here?" Dao Yun coldly interrupted the child.
"And who are you? If you want to know the answers, put this thing down!" The child turned his head and looked at Daoyun.
Just that one glance was enough to make Dao Yun's pupils tremble slightly, and she no longer needed to wait for the child's answer. Dao Yun had seen this face before, and she would never forget it. Years had passed, but this face was still just as repulsive; the haughty air of someone who had lived a life of privilege remained unchanged, etched into his very bones.
"Jiang Yurong," Daoyun tentatively began.
"You know me?" Jiang Yurong heard his name called and looked at Dao Yun directly. He didn't recognize the person in front of him at all, but the person in front of him knew him. This was unfair, and he was very unhappy.
"I don't know him," Daoyun scoffed. "I just guessed."
"How can a random guess be so accurate? I don't believe it. Are you trying to fool a child?" Jiang Yurong was about to step forward. He was certain that Dao Yun would not harm him. He only needed to take one step forward to extinguish the arrogance of the person in front of him, and perhaps even make the person in front of him afraid.
Just thinking about it made him excited.
Jiang Yurong stepped forward. According to his plan, the somewhat frightening sword should have been sheathed. But Dao Yun didn't. Dao Yun pressed the sword down directly, and soon a bloody mark appeared on Jiang Yurong's neck.
"Sister Daoyun!" Qin Zhiyi was terrified and rushed forward to protect Daoyun.
“It’s alright, he won’t die,” Daoyun said. “I’m taking him away. This person can’t cause trouble for the Qin family. Don’t save such ungrateful people again in the future.”
Dao Yun nodded slightly to the Qin family members, then kicked forward, hitting Jiang Yurong's knee and causing her to fall to the ground. A muffled scream and gasp came from Jiang Yurong's mouth, but soon Dao Yun grabbed her neck and dragged her away from the Qin family.
"Fine, fine, so you're Dao Yun, right? I'll remember you!" Jiang Yurong clutched his neck, trying to stand up, but Dao Yun didn't give him the chance. His feet could only kick up dust on the ground, and all the dust that flew up went into Jiang Yurong's mouth. He had to open his mouth to eat dirt.
Jiang Yurong quickly shut her mouth. She heard Daoyun say, "You better remember me, and don't try to be tough with me. I'd love for you to die."
Jiang Yufan still wants to live.
Jiang Yurong was thrown into Daoyun's house. Daoyun tied him up and locked him in the woodshed. Daoyun instructed the other people who lived in the house and practiced martial arts to take good care of him, to make sure he didn't die or commit suicide, to give him something to eat when he was hungry, and not to let him come out.
After giving all the instructions, Dao Yun went to find Jiang Yu Fan.
Why Jiang Yurong was here was a mystery, and Daoyun dared not make the decision herself, but she still had to tell Jiang Yufan about it. If it weren't for this, Daoyun would have killed Jiang Yurong on the spot. Just thinking that this person still had the blood of the Buddhist nun flowing in his veins and had been saved by the Buddhist nun made her grit her teeth in hatred.
Why bother saving such a scoundrel?
She suppressed her anger and went to Jiang Yufan, telling him everything in detail.
"What?" When Jiang Yufan heard the name, she thought she had misheard. It took her a long time to process what Daoyun had said. She realized that Jiang Yurong was the younger brother she had saved with ten bowls of blood from ten wounds on her wrist.
Her younger brother.
Just that alone made her feel weak in her wrist, and there was a slight pain.
“Buddha, just say the word and I can kill him.”
"Why would you want to kill him?" Jiang Yufan shook her head. "I have no grudge against him. You're not worth risking your life for him."
"Then, Buddhist nun, do you want to see him?" Daoyun nodded. She would listen to the Buddhist nun. She had locked him up for this very reason.
"I want to see him. I want to know what happened to the Jiang family, how they ended up like this, and why Jiang Yurong is here."
Although recalling the past is painful, Jiang Yufan also wants to pretend she knows nothing. She had severed ties with the Jiang family and never met them again. Perhaps it was fate that brought them to a peaceful end, and she should listen to God.
“But, Buddhist nun, it seems that Jiang Yurong has been spoiled by his family. He has a bad temper and is picky. If you go to see him, please be sure to take me with you. I will protect you.”
"Is it that scary?" Jiang Yufan became interested after hearing Daoyun's words. She smiled and said, "He should only be eleven or twelve years old now, yet he can make you so wary?"
"Qin Zhiyi saved him, but he repaid kindness with enmity, demanding that the Qin family spend all their money on him. The Qin family was tormented, and they couldn't even find a single intact pot or pan in their home. I ended up paying out of my own pocket to help the Qin family with those household expenses."
"Oh, right, I also slit his throat with my sword once, because he thought I wouldn't do anything to him and deliberately provoked me. But he didn't die, I had someone bandage him up."
“I understand,” Jiang Yufan nodded. “He deserved it. I won’t feel sorry for him. Of course, I’m on your side, as well as the Jiang family and you.”
"Let's wait until tomorrow. You can come with me to see him tomorrow."
"Should we tell Lord Gu?" Daoyun asked.
"No need. I'll tell him when I meet Jiang Yurong and understand what happened."
First, figure out what happened.
