Buddhist Hall
Everyone says that getting married means becoming an adult, and that you're different from before. When Jiang Yufan was little, she only heard her family say this. The stories told by her married relatives when they returned home planted a seed in Jiang Yufan's heart. She looked forward to it and thought that getting married would make her a woman who could speak freely like them.
She has the air of a matriarch, dazzlingly so.
Now that she's married and a woman, Jiang Yufan doesn't feel that her life has become anything special. The only difference is that she and Gu Sidu are sleeping in the same bed, and someone is always holding her as she falls asleep. The two are much closer, and Gu Sidu is much more unrestrained than before.
In those aspects...
Jiang Yufan blushed at the thought, and many scenes flashed through her mind. She covered her face; no one had told her that having a husband meant experiencing such "pain" in the bedroom.
Gu Sidu was very clingy. Things in Chang Le City were all on track, and there was little to worry about. Magistrate Xu Zhian was still in power. Whenever he couldn't make up his mind about something, he would come to Gu Sidu. Gu Sidu was able to make ends meet on his monthly salary.
Strangely enough, Gu Sidu never thought about how to make money to live a good life, but apart from his monthly salary, he always had some money to spend. If he helped someone repair something today, he would receive fresh fruits and vegetables; if he taught someone else's child to write and paint tomorrow, he would receive payment and gratitude.
Gu Sidu is like a brick that can fill any door in the lives of ordinary people. He has made many friends, and these small acts of help accumulate into a river. This is also a great ambition, something that ordinary people find difficult to achieve.
It is good to offer advice in the imperial court, but whether those plans can be implemented for the people and whether they can put their minds at ease are things that still need to be carefully considered. Gu Sidu prefers what he has now, where he can truly see the people getting better and share in their joy.
This couldn't be better.
The only bad thing was that Jiang Yufan was free. Gu Sidu spent all his free time with Jiang Yufan, wishing he could be attached to her.
I propped my head up with my hand and watched Jiang Yufan open her eyes. When Jiang Yufan opened her eyes and saw Gu Sidu's face, she was stunned at first and would back away in fright, but she got used to it later.
Later, Jiang Yufan got used to it and would look at Gu Sidu, snuggling into his arms: "Aren't you tired of doing this every day?"
"With my beautiful wife here, I'm not tired at all," Gu Sidu replied.
No one else did this, so Jiang Yufan didn't press the matter further. Asking would only lead to more suffering for her. Gu Sidu was naturally skilled in matters of the bedroom and always managed to coax her.
If one were to nitpick, Gu Sidu would inevitably steer every word and phrase toward those unworthy of praise, thus altering the meaning of his argument.
Jiang Yufan didn't know if others were the same. She only knew that after she got out of bed, washed up, and sat in front of the mirror, it was Gu Sidu who combed her hair, drew her eyebrows, and put the pearl hairpin in her hair.
Sometimes Jiang Yufan wanted to hold him down and tell him not to do that. These were things that maids did, and if Gu Sidu did such things, he would inevitably be laughed at. But Gu Sidu just held her face and told her not to move, so as not to mess up the hairpins or put them in crookedly.
Gu Sidu didn't care who did these things or who was in charge of them. Sometimes, the maids would hide at the door and peek at them, secretly covering their mouths and laughing.
Jiang Yufan blushed and complained to Gu Sidu, "It's all your fault!"
"Why blame me?" Gu Sidu laughed instead. "Isn't it good for couples to be harmonious? So many people envy that."
"By the way, Bodhisattva, I prepared a gift for you today, but I put it in the Buddhist shrine that I just cleaned up a few days ago. Please go and get it later."
"Why is it placed in the Buddhist hall?" Jiang Yufan asked curiously. If something was prepared, wouldn't it be better to just give it to her directly? Why go through all this trouble?
"secret."
Gu Sidu always does these things, so Jiang Yufan has no choice but to go.
The official residence wasn't very large, but it was quite unique, with many empty rooms. One room was used by Gu Sidu as a study for practicing calligraphy, another was left for Jiang Yufan to store her treasures, and the last room was left empty, which Gu Sidu insisted on decorating himself.
By the time Jiang Yufan realized that Gu Sidu had built a Buddhist temple, Gu Sidu was already smiling triumphantly.
"I already said I'm a fake Bodhisattva, so why are you setting it up like a Buddhist shrine?" Jiang Yufan asked.
“I thought it was hard to break the habit, and the Bodhisattva still had to burn incense and transcribe scriptures every day, so why not do it here? Besides, with the blessings of the gods and Buddhas, it might be beneficial. Moreover, it would provide a place for those in the city who believe in the Bodhisattva to receive guests.”
Gu Sidu appeared to be acting out of kindness, but he only observed.
Jiang Yufan nodded, but remained somewhat skeptical, and simply brushed it off. The gifts for today were in the Buddhist hall again, and Jiang Yufan wanted to go and see what was inside.
She accepted Gu Sidu's invitation and entered the Buddhist hall. She was to find the gift herself, but she knew nothing about it. How was she supposed to find it? She first found a small box around the Buddhist hall containing new sandalwood and new prayer beads. However, the box was placed very high and was not easy to reach. Jiang Yufan had to exert a lot of effort to get it.
She tiptoed, just about to touch the box, when a force grabbed her waist from behind and slammed her against the high cabinet. Jiang Yufan turned her head and saw Gu Sidu's smiling eyes.
"Gu Sidu, what are you doing?"
“Help the Bodhisattva carry things,” Gu Sidu’s hand reached up and stroked Jiang Yufan’s hand, “Does the Bodhisattva not want me to do this?”
Jiang Yufan also realized what was going on and said, "You did this on purpose, luring me to the Buddhist hall and putting these things in a high place. Gu Sidu, your goal is not those gifts, but me."
Jiang Yufan, having withdrawn her hand, turned around and raised an eyebrow at Gu Sidu: "So, what are you doing here?"
“Those new prayer beads were specially made to match the bracelet that the Bodhisattva gave me. They can be paired together.” Gu Sidu’s gaze fell on Jiang Yufan, slowly lowering, as he approached her lips.
This is a Buddhist temple.
Jiang Yufan felt nervous. She gripped Gu Sidu's collar, brushed her eyelashes, and whispered, "Gu Sidu, let's go somewhere else."
"Right here."
Gu Sidu set up this Buddhist shrine so that he could cause trouble here.
“But…” Jiang Yufan hesitated and said, “How can we do anything reckless in a Buddhist temple, a place of sanctity?”
"But you are not a real Bodhisattva, you are a fake Bodhisattva."
Why are you using this phrase to retort to people who never listened to you before? Is this how you use this phrase?
Jiang Yufan inwardly grumbled, but couldn't stop Gu Sidu. The door was closed; no one would come. It wouldn't matter if they fooled around a bit. They were married, husband and wife; these things between husband and wife were matters of private pleasure.
Despite Jiang Yufan's attempts to comfort herself, she was still trembling. Only when Gu Sidu kissed her lips did her body feel a little better, as if a boat had found its anchor. She boldly cupped Gu Sidu's cheeks and leaned against him.
Gu Sidu's gentle kisses flowed down from her lips to her shoulder. She closed her eyes, feeling all of Gu Sidu's caresses and touches. All she wanted to do was hold Gu Sidu tight.
They sat down on the chairs, and after a moment of swirling in the air, they relaxed. Although they were still wearing their clothes, their half-undressed bodies brought them closer, allowing them to face each other honestly and lean against one another.
Jiang Yufan blushed. At this moment, Gu Sidu was still trying to rub against her!
"Don't move," Jiang Yufan couldn't stand it any longer. She opened her legs and looked directly at Gu Sidu. "The room is filled with the sound of chairs."
“Madam,” Gu Sidu chuckled, suppressing a laugh, “Aren’t you used to it yet? It’s alright if you make a little noise like this. Others will know, but it won’t bother you.”
"This is a secret place that belongs only to us." Gu Sidu whispered these words in Jiang Yufan's ear, so that only Jiang Yufan could hear them. These words also revealed all of Gu Sidu's thoughts. He had long prepared this place for Jiang Yufan. The bed was not enough. He wanted a new place and new ways to play.
Jiang Yufan dared not look at Gu Sidu's face. She lowered her head and leaned on Gu Sidu's shoulder, her body rising and falling with his. Jiang Yufan heard the prayer beads on her hand striking Gu Sidu's bracelet, the subtle rubbing sound as if it were right next to her ear. Along with the sounds of breathing and the friction of the chair, everything was clearly visible and exposed in the Buddhist hall and in front of the Buddha statues.
“Gu Sidu,” Jiang Yufan looked up and glanced at the demure Buddha statue, “Do you think that if there really were Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they would be angry if they saw us like this?”
"No, if people in the world live happily and no one can go to hell, they will protect them. You have done many things for the people in the world and accumulated a lot of merit. If there really are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they also hope that we can live a good life."
"This is what we deserve."
Jiang Yufan was quite certain of this. At that moment, she clasped her hands together and prayed sincerely in her heart. Even now, she didn't know if she truly believed in gods and Buddhas, but it was always good to pray. She whispered, "May Buddha and Bodhisattvas bless my husband and me with good days ahead, and may we live out our lives in harmony and happiness."
"What about living out this life in harmony and happiness? I don't know if the Bodhisattvas and Buddhas can bless me, but I can do that." Gu Sidu grabbed Jiang Yufan's hand. How could Jiang Yufan be distracted at this moment? Gu Sidu suppressed his displeasure. When Jiang Yufan had doubts, he smiled and pressed Jiang Yufan down onto the table.
With their hands clasped tightly together and pressed against the table, Gu Sidu straightened his body and hugged Jiang Yufan tightly. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to Jiang Yufan's lips: "Madam, one more time."
