Miwako raised her hand, the white bandage wrapped around her hand was very conspicuous: "Inspector Megure gave me a day off to rest and recuperate, otherwise why would I have been in the izakaya yesterday?"
"I see."
Kōyū nodded, thinking that it was a rare day off for Miwako, who was a civil servant, so he asked, "Do you have any plans for today, like going out or something?"
Miwako shook her head and said, "It's only one day. I can't go far, and I don't want to go near. I'm all alone, so there's no point in going."
Guangyou suggested, "Let's go shopping then. Spending money can really lift your spirits."
Miwako shook her head: "I don't really want to go alone."
Without even thinking, Guangyou said, "I'll go with you. I'm free right now anyway."
"Hmm, that works too. I haven't gone shopping in a long time."
Miwako tapped her chin with her finger, thought for a moment, and then nodded in agreement.
She's off today, and if she doesn't go out, she'll just have to stay home and watch TV anyway, so she might as well go out for a walk.
Thinking of all this, she looked at Guangyou and thought to herself, "With this child around, at least it won't be too boring."
"Let me finish this cup of coffee before I leave."
Guangyou raised his coffee and took a sip. As soon as it entered his mouth, he frowned again. "It's really bitter."
Miwako asked, "Then why do you drink it? And it's not good for children to drink coffee that's too bitter."
Guangyou took another sip: "I just suddenly felt like drinking it. It's okay to have a drink once in a while."
It took Guangyou nearly half an hour to finish the cup of coffee, which was at most 150 milliliters. The last sip was even more bitter because of the small amount of undissolved residue.
After washing and putting away the coffee cups, Kōyū said to Miwako, "Let's go."
