Chapter 120 New Humans (Part 2)

Forty minutes later, Catherine Robert finished her studies for the day and sat up from the cushion in the recumbent network access cabin. She gathered her golden hair that was draped over her back and tied it into a simple bun with a bright red silk ribbon. Then she put one hand on the servant's shoulder and walked down the ramp that had been prepared long ago.

This machine was one of the gifts given to Catherine by her elders. It might be very valuable, but it was no different from any other item. It looked like a split goose egg, about six meters tall, with a silver base and a circle of gilded floral reliefs, and the rest of the shell was a clean, smooth ivory white.

The servants described the machine as a highly advanced ternary vacuum tube computer, capable of hosting a virtual soul, not only allowing intense internet surfing in sleep. They praised it with such gusto that it seemed a waste of natural resources to be left in the garden. Fortunately, even though Catherine had no idea how the machine worked, it didn't prevent her from using it. In her opinion, the only advantage of this aesthetically pleasing, unwieldy machine was its user-friendly operation. If placed in the garden, it would provide a tranquil retreat.

Next it was time for afternoon tea, but before that I needed to hurry back and change my clothes.

She usually needs to change 6 to 10 sets of clothes a day. Even in some extraordinary times when etiquette needs to be simplified, she must prepare at least one set of clothes for morning, noon and evening.

As a child, Catherine had originally despised these tedious formalities, but people change quickly. After witnessing the differences between power and nobility, she no longer despised the trappings that embodied family power. After all, aside from other expensive ornaments and daily necessities, clothes were every noblewoman's second skin.

If you don't treat it well, one day your family will offend forces that it shouldn't offend.

Catherine returned to the family's private bathroom. The warm water for bathing was ready. The maid helped her undress and take off the elastic pure white composite fabric network access cabin suit. Then she jumped into the spacious warm pool that looked like a lake.

This massive bathhouse sits at the edge of a canyon, approximately one hundred meters below the surface and four hundred meters deep at its deepest point. This canyon, situated at the corner of the family estate, extends all the way to the sea. The bathhouse is oval in shape, with one half jutting out of the canyon. The transparent bottom offers a glimpse of the stream and jungle below. From the outer edge, one can often hear the distant waterfall. The other half is enclosed by a towering dome, painted in a variety of styles by generations of family artists. The bathhouse is largely open-air, but there's no need to worry about escaping vapor from the pool or the air inside. These are blocked by a pale blue energy barrier. As long as the energy system is functioning properly, the amount of gas leaking out is less than what the industrial zone consumes.

Such an interesting place should theoretically attract many people, but usually she is the only one who visits here.

With servants by her side, she wouldn't feel lonely.

Catherine scooped up a pool of water and smelled it. The cool fragrance immediately made her feel refreshed, and the accumulated fatigue disappeared without a trace.

Apparently, some unknown spice had been added to the water; according to the servants, that expensive substance could help enhance her unique powers.

This is what the current head of the family meant.

Unlike several other major families in the Federation, Catherine's family focused on cultivating the "absolute" power of its heirs. As the strongest dual-awakened person in the family, she naturally enjoyed the most and best resources.
