Chapter 45 Lin Xi seemed completely indifferent to him.

Chapter 45 Lin Xi seemed completely indifferent to him.

Song Xu hung up the phone and sent a message to Zhang Qing in the conference room: [Meeting adjourned, to be rescheduled.]

Zhang Qing remained calm after seeing the message. He recognized the girl's voice; it was Lin Xi, who was living with CEO Song.

He began tidying up the things on the table. "Today's meeting is suspended. President Song has urgent business to attend to. The meeting time will be rescheduled."

"Assistant Zhang, who was the girl who just called President Song?" a middle-level manager who was on good terms with Zhang Qing asked in a low voice.

Zhang Qing smiled mysteriously, "This is a secret, I can't say."

The secret that Xiao Song always had a girlfriend quickly spread throughout the company.

...

Song Xu found Lin Xi at the police station. The young girl was quite calm, but the middle-aged man next to her couldn't sit still anymore. He was slamming his fist on the table and cursing.

"She's a liar. She must have stolen that watch. What Mr. Song? If she knew any rich people, would she wear such cheap clothes and carry such a tattered canvas bag?"

“Calm down,” the policeman tapped the table. “Regardless of where the watch came from, the issue is that you took it from that young girl.”

"I didn't snatch it; she put it in my hand herself. I said I wanted to have it professionally examined, and she panicked. That's why I didn't give it back to her immediately. It might be stolen goods," the middle-aged man explained.

When Lin Xi heard that Song Xu was coming, she was no longer nervous or scared. "Officer, there is a security camera at the entrance of that shop. We can retrieve the footage to check."

The middle-aged man was taken aback, then said, "That camera is broken."

Lin Xi glanced at him and said, "You deliberately chose that meeting place because there were no security cameras and no place to prove you committed a crime."

Song Xu slowly walked to Lin Xi's side. "Where should we meet?"

“President Song,” Song Xu looked exceptionally tall today, and Lin Xi looked up at him, “You’ve arrived.”

Song Xu pulled out a chair and sat down, casually tossing the blue Porsche car keys on the table. He stared at Lin Xi and asked, "Which blind bastard dared to steal your things?"

Lin Xi glanced at the "blind bastard" and said, "It was him who insisted that I stole the watch."

"What watch?" Song Xu asked.

The watch was in the policeman's hands. The policeman placed the watch in front of Song Xu and asked, "Sir, is this watch yours?"

Lin Xi clasped her hands together, wondering how Song Xu would respond.

“Oh, it’s this watch,” Song Xu recognized it at a glance. “It’s a gift I bought for a friend.”

"Huh?" Lin Xi winked at Song Xu, meaning that he didn't need to lie.

Song Xu wasn't lying. This watch was a gift he gave to Shen Yan for his eighteenth birthday. He bought it casually; when friends give gifts, they only care about the price, not the sentiment.

At the time, Shen Yan was still in high school, so he didn't buy anything too expensive. He chose a watch worth 300,000 yuan to keep a low profile.

Song Xu didn't expect that Shen Yanhan would let Lin Xi sell this watch. He had only bought it a few months ago, and the payment record could still be found.

He showed the police the payment record, which included the purchase date and the name of the store; anyone could find it if they wanted to.

The watch's provenance was confirmed, and the police returned it to Lin Xi. The next step was to resolve the dispute between her and the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man opposite was dumbfounded. He hadn't expected that this girl knew a rich man. He had noticed the car keys on the table a while ago, which almost blinded him.

He really has a bad eye for people; it seems he's gotten himself into trouble this time.

“It’s all a misunderstanding,” the middle-aged man’s expression changed. “Young lady, how about I buy this watch from you at the price you listed it for on the platform?”

Lin Xi put the watch into her canvas bag and firmly refused, "Not for sale!"

“Officer, I suspect he works for that secondhand luxury goods store. They’re engaging in fraudulent activities.” Lin Xi, now more confident, boldly voiced her suspicions.

"Don't listen to her nonsense, I don't work for any secondhand store at all." The middle-aged man visibly tensed up.

When Song Xu asked for the location of the shop, he chuckled to himself. What a coincidence! This commercial street was developed by their company, and the shops inside were also leased out by their company.

He sent Zhang Qing a message, asking him to check the store's surveillance footage first, and then find out who the store owner was.

Zhang Qing quickly sent the shop owner's information to Song Xu. Song Xu glanced at the owner's photo, then looked up at the middle-aged man, and sure enough, it was the same person.

He handed the phone to the police officer, saying, "His lying proves he has a guilty conscience."

After the police officer finished reading the phone, he returned it to Song Xu with a complicated expression. He wondered who this handsome guy was and how he had found out about him so quickly.

“Don’t keep this shop,” Song Xu said to the middle-aged man. “I’m not renting it to you anymore. The surveillance footage will be sent over soon. If you do anything wrong, we will sue you.”

The middle-aged man was completely dumbfounded. He knew perfectly well who he had rented the shop from. He slumped into his chair and muttered, "It's over..."

Zhang Qing was very efficient, and the surveillance video was sent over. After watching it, Song Xu felt a surge of anger. Why was Lin Xi standing so close to this old man? Couldn't she just kick him?

Song Xu handed the surveillance video to the police. The rest was no longer Lin Xi's business. Song Xu then took her away from the police station.

Song Xu opened the car door, but Lin Xi didn't move. She gripped the strap of her canvas bag and said, "Thank you so much, Mr. Song. The apartment isn't far from here; I can go back by myself."

"Get in the car." Song Xu opened the passenger door.

Lin Xi secretly glanced at Song Xu and saw that he seemed unhappy. Going against him at this moment would probably make him even angrier.

She got into the car, and Song Xu slammed the door shut, making Lin Xi tremble in fright.

After Song Xu got into the car, he didn't say a word the whole way, and Lin Xi also remained quiet.

The two of them walked into the house without saying a word.

After changing into her slippers, Lin Xi stood in the living room, unsure of what to do. She glanced at Song Xu and asked, "Mr. Song, are you having lunch at home?"

Song Xu gave her a cold glance. "What do you think?"

"I'll make it now. Is there anything you'd like to eat?" Lin Xi asked.

"Whatever!" Song Xu plopped down on the living room sofa.

Lin Xi frowned. Had she offended him? Why was he acting like he was on fire today?

She returned the bag to her room, changed her clothes, and then went to the kitchen to prepare lunch.

Song Xu felt agitated, though he didn't know what was bothering him. Was it the completely unrelated kinship test report, or Lin Xi getting too close to other men?

What bothered him even more was that Lin Xi seemed completely indifferent to his anger.
