Chapter 514 Misunderstanding Escalates
Fu Chen didn't start the car immediately. Instead, he took out an unopened bottle of mineral water from the storage compartment and handed it to her: "Drink some water and take it easy."
"Thank you." Ji Wan took it, unscrewed the cap, and drank it in small sips. The cold liquid slid down her throat, making her a little more sober.
"You're welcome." Fu Chen started the car and drove smoothly into the traffic. "Where do you live? Or the same address as last time?"
Ji Wan nodded and reported the rented house. Now, she had no choice but to go to his place.
The carriage was silent for a moment. Ji Wan watched the street scene rapidly receding outside the window, her eyes beginning to heat up again. She blinked hard, suppressing the tears.
"If you don't mind," Fu Chen's voice sounded again, breaking the silence, "Let's have dinner together tonight? I know a nice restaurant with a quiet environment and delicious food."
Ji Wan turned his head and looked at Fu Chen.
He was driving intently, and the lines of his profile were strong and clear.
His proposal was like a life-saving straw.
She needed an outlet, an outlet where she could temporarily forget Chi Wenyan.
More importantly, an idea was brewing in her heart. Didn't Chi Wenyan like acting? Didn't he like being hugged by women? Then she would let him have a taste of that, too.
"Okay." Ji Wan agreed almost gritting his teeth.
Fu Chen seemed a little surprised that she agreed so readily, but he quickly regained his composure: "Then I'll take you back to rest, and I'll pick you up in the evening."
"Um."
Back at the apartment, Ji Wan threw himself onto the soft sofa, his mind a mess. The intimate scenes of Chi Wenyan and Lin Chuxia, and Lin Chuxia's sweet "Brother Wenyan", replayed before his eyes.
She picked up her phone, her finger hesitated on the screen for a moment, and finally opened WeChat Moments.
At seven o'clock in the evening, in an elegant private restaurant in the west of the city.
Fu Chen pulled out a chair for Ji Wan, being a gentleman and considerate. The restaurant was filled with soothing music and soft lighting, making it a truly relaxing place.
The dishes were exquisite and tasted great. Fu Chen was very talkative, chatting about interesting things during the flight and the customs and practices of various places, skillfully avoiding any topics that might make her unhappy.
Ji Wan's mood was indeed much more relaxed in this atmosphere and company. She even smiled a little, which she hadn't done in a long time.
She picked up her phone and took a picture of the exquisite dishes on the table. Fu Chen's bony hands holding the teacup were in the frame. She thought for a moment, then tilted the camera up slightly and took a picture of herself and Fu Chen. In the picture, she smiled slightly, and Fu Chen also looked at the camera with a faint smile on his lips.
She edited a circle of friends: "Thank you Captain Fu for the dinner, very happy @Fu Chen"

After doing all this, she felt a surge of pleasure of revenge in her heart.
Chi Wenyan, do you see? I, Ji Wan, can still live well without you. There will be someone better by my side.
…
Office of the President of Chi Group.
Chi Wenyan tugged at his tie irritably, unable to read a single word of the document in front of him. All he could think of was Ji Wan's resolute look in the hospital and the words "I feel sick," which cut into his heart repeatedly like a blunt knife.
Lin Chuxia had indeed grown up following him around and had always called him Brother Wen Yan.
This time he had just returned from abroad, and his family asked him to take better care of him.
He never thought that such a simple thing would once again ignite Ji Wan's anger.
His phone vibrated, and he picked it up. It was a notification from WeChat Moments.
He clicked it casually, and the next second, his pupils suddenly constricted.
In the photo, Ji Wan is smiling brightly, with a man sitting next to her. One of the man's hands is even in the photo, a gesture of intimacy. Even more striking is the caption: "Thank you Captain Fu for the dinner, it was very enjoyable. @Fuchen"
Fu Chen, it’s that Fu Chen again.
"Bang!" Chi Wenyan slammed his fist on the desk, and the veins on the back of his hand bulged.
Rage erupted like a volcano, instantly sweeping away all his rationality. She had just come out of the hospital, had just said something harsh to him, and then she turned around and smiled so happily with another man, even posting it on her WeChat Moments to announce it to the world.
Was she trying to show him that she was so eager to throw herself into someone else's arms?
His chest heaved violently, and his hand trembled slightly with anger as he picked up the phone. He immediately dialed Ji Wan's number.
"Sorry, the user you dialed is turned off." A cold mechanical female voice came.
Turn off the phone. She actually dared to turn it off.
The veins on Chi Wenyan's forehead were throbbing, and he grabbed the car keys and rushed out.
He wanted to find her and find out what she thought of him, Chi Wenyan.
After Ji Wan and Fu Chen finished their meal, Fu Chen took her back to the apartment.
As soon as she entered the door, Ji Wan's cell phone rang, and the three words "Chi Wenyan" on the screen hurt her eyes.
She hung up without hesitation and turned off the phone.
The world is quiet.
She took a deep breath and said to Fu Chen, "Captain Fu, thank you so much today."
"Just call me Fu Chen." Fu Chen leaned against the door and looked at her, "You look much better."
"Yeah." Ji Wan nodded, "I'm sorry to have embarrassed you."
"Nothing." Fu Chen smiled, "Go to bed early."
"The same to you."
After seeing Fu Chen off, Ji Wan threw himself onto the sofa.
Many mutual friends have liked and commented on her Moments post, asking about her relationship with Fu Chen. She didn't reply.
She knew that Chi Wenyan must have seen it.
He must be mad now, right?
Thinking of this, Ji Wan didn't feel any joy in his heart, but felt even heavier.
She just wanted to make him angry, but she found that she was not happy either.
I don’t know how long it was, but the doorbell suddenly rang quickly, accompanied by the sound of strong knocks on the door.
"Ji Wan, open the door, I know you are inside, open the door." It was Chi Wenyan's furious voice.
Ji Wan's heart suddenly tightened. He had actually come.
She walked to the back of the door and looked through the peephole to see Chi Wenyan's face, which was so gloomy that it seemed to be dripping with water, and his eyes were filled with terrifying red bloodshot.
She didn't want to open the door, didn't want to see him again, didn't want to listen to his hypocritical explanations again.
"Ji Wan, if you don't open the door, I will smash it down." Chi Wenyan's voice became even more manic.
Ji Wan closed his eyes and finally opened the door.
As the door opened, Chi Wenyan rushed in with a cold air and grabbed her wrist with such force that it seemed as if he wanted to crush her bones.
"Let me go." Ji Wan struggled, his wrist hurt from his grip.
"Let you go?" Chi Wenyan's eyes were red as he stared at her intently. "Ji Wan, you've become quite capable. After you had a fight with me, you couldn't wait to have dinner and date another man, and even posted about it on WeChat Moments? What do you think of me? Ah, say something."
