In Lanshan Garden, four children are reading on the sofa while waiting for their mother to come home.
Upon hearing the door open, everyone turned their heads in unison.
"Mom." Upon recognizing their mother, they got off the sofa.
Fu Yunting took out a certificate from behind his back and handed it to Rong Yan: "Mom, you won an award."
Rong Yan was stunned for a moment and didn't react.
She took the certificate and looked down at it: "Best Style Award".
"Mom, there's more." Fu Yunlei then took out an award certificate.
The certificate has a photo on it; Fu Jingsheng received a Cross-Disciplinary Excellence Award.
I must say, the photo was really well captured; it perfectly captured the way several people were sticking out their bellies, except that Fu Jingsheng just happened to roll his eyes.
"When your dad gets back, you can give it to him yourself. He should be home soon," Rong Yan said, glancing at the time.
"Mom, there are more." The children took out all their certificates, including Han Yue's and Lao Deng's. Rong Yan suspected that each child had one.
"I'll call Grandma and ask if she's arrived home yet. If she is, we'll take her there together." Rong Yan put down her bag and called her mother-in-law.
Han Yue was watching TV when she saw the name on the caller ID and answered with a smile: "Rong Yan."
Upon learning that her mother-in-law was at home, Rongyan took the children there.
"Old Deng, Rongyan, come here. Go cut some fruit," Han Yue said to her husband.
"Okay." After blocking his son, Old Deng had already decided to maintain a good relationship with Fu Jingsheng and the others so that he could have security in his old age.
Old Deng took out all the fruit in the house and cut it up.
"Grandpa Deng, Grandma Deng!" the children called out as soon as they entered the door.
"Baby." Old Deng went over and hugged the child.
"Grandpa, we've come to give you your award certificate." Rong Yan told the children that they had to go home after delivering the gift and couldn't stay out too late.
"There's also a certificate of merit." Han Yue's eyes curved into crescents as she and Lao Deng looked at it together; two names were written on it.
Old Deng invited the children to sit down and have some fruit.
They both looked at their mother: "Is it okay?"
"Just a little bit, come here," Han Yue answered for him.
"Alright, let's hurry up and not disturb Grandma's rest."
After eating some fruit, they wanted to see the new pet that Lao Deng had bought.
"Grandpa, Grandma just said on the phone that we have a new member. Is it a pet?" Fu Yunlei asked.
"Yes, come and take a look."
Rong Yan: ……
Han Yue looked at Rong Yan: "Rong Yan, let's chat for a while."
"Okay, Mom."
Han Yue told Rong Yan about what happened during the day.
"Mom, good thing you blocked me, that's hilarious. Jing Sheng and I will take care of you in your old age from now on," Rong Yan said disdainfully.
"Old Deng is famous this time too. Rongyan, with your words, Mom knows that her life has been worthwhile."
"Pah, pah, pah! What do you mean 'worth it in this life'? Don't say that!" Rong Yan immediately corrected her.
After returning from her mother-in-law's house, Rong Yan expressed her feelings to Fu Jingsheng.
Fu Jingsheng reacted the same way Rong Yan did when she heard this.
"What a dog! If he tries to contact Mom again, I'll have to warn him." Even Fu Jingsheng, who never pries into Han Yue's private affairs, was furious.
"Don't get agitated. Mom said we shouldn't interfere, and she won't contact us again." Rong Yan respected her mother-in-law's opinion.
Fu Jingsheng thought a lot while he was sleeping that night.
Old Deng is a good man, but his son is not. Deng Wei's thoughts made him wonder if that person would eventually extort money from his mother.
Fu Jingsheng wants his mother and Lao Deng to have their property notarized.
After getting up, he told Rong Yan his idea, but Rong Yan disagreed.
“Jing Sheng, let Mom keep her own money. Even if she gets scammed, we'll still be there for her. If we do a prenuptial agreement, it will seem like we don't trust Lao Deng,” Rong Yan said, offering her opinion.
"I'll think about it some more." Fu Jingsheng retracted his decision.
In the afternoon, light snow began to fall in Tiancheng.
After finishing her work, Shen Xingzhi sent Yu Wenhao a video of snow.
Unexpectedly, Yu Wenhao called directly: "Xingzhi, is it snowing in Tiancheng? Did it just start snowing? Is Rong Yan still driving today? Is there any snow on the road? Tell her to drive slowly, and don't walk around, the ground is very slippery. I'll ask Fu Jingsheng for permission to go back tomorrow."
"Wenhao, the snow isn't heavy, there's no snow on the ground, don't be so nervous." Shen Xingzhi already regretted sending the video to Yu Wenhao, making him worry.
Sure enough, just before the end of the workday, Yu Wenhao called again, asking if his wife had finished get off work yet, whether Rong Yan was nearby, and telling Rong Yan to drive carefully.
Rong Yan fastened her seatbelt: "Yu Wenhao, the sun is out now, it's not snowing, and the ground is dry. If you keep being this nervous, I won't take Xingzhi back. I'm getting anxious too."
"No, no, Xingzhi has to stay at your place tonight. I'm going back to Tiancheng tomorrow."
"Then you should trust me, I will take good care of her."
"Yu Wenhao, hang up now. Focus on your work. I'm doing just fine." Shen Xingzhi was getting annoyed with the message.
Yu Wenhao worked through the night to finish the task ahead of schedule and returned to Tiancheng the next day at noon.
After the plane landed, my phone received several missed call notifications.
Several of the calls came from my mother.
My mother actually came to Tiancheng.
It was at Yu Wenhao's house, but no one was home.
"Wenhao, I'm at the door, but no one's opening it." Mrs. Yu sat against the wall.
"Mom, why didn't you tell me you were coming? Xingzhi and I are both at work, so of course no one is home."
“Isn’t Xingzhi’s job quite flexible? I called her, and she said she was too busy to leave.” Yu’s mother had another problem with Shen Xingzhi. “She told me to go downstairs to the restaurant to sit and have something to eat, saying that you would be home in the afternoon.”
Shen Xingzhi wasn't really unable to leave; rather, she was afraid that her pregnant belly would be noticed by Yu's mother. If only she had known, she would have worn a down jacket when she went out. A large, loose down jacket wouldn't show her belly.
After receiving a call from her mother-in-law, Shen Xingzhi went to Rong Yan's office and asked Rong Yan to lend her a down jacket to wear.
When Rong Yan learned that Yu's mother had once again come uninvited, she was worried for Shen Xingzhi.
"Do you want to wear a big down jacket to cover your stomach?" Rong Yan asked.
"Hmm, I don't want her to know. What about Rong Yan? I'm scared. Maybe I should just say I'm going on a business trip? You arranged for me to go on a business trip at the last minute." Shen Xingzhi said, at a loss for what to do.
"Xingzhi, you should face it. If you don't want her to take care of you, she won't insist on doing so. If she really refuses to leave, you can just move into your own house." Rongyan always felt that keeping such a big thing from Yu Wenhao's family was not a long-term solution.
“Then come back with me after get off work. Tell her you have dinner plans with me tonight, and that you know Aunt Yu is here, so you're stopping by to see her,” Shen Xingzhi said, holding her best friend’s hand.
"Alright, Xingzhi, don't be so nervous." Rongyan said when she saw her best friend's face turn pale with fright. "She's a human, not a demon or monster. Besides, she came to Tiancheng alone. There are so many of us. Are you afraid of her?"
"Yeah, don't be afraid of her. There are so many of us. We've agreed that if she sees through our act and insists on staying, you'll all come with me and make her leave."
