Chapter 187 I'm Willing to Get Hurt for You

What's wrong with Mom? Why is she angry again all of a sudden?

Madam Zheng's personal maid, Granny Zheng, reminded her, "Madam..."

Madam Zheng swept her gaze sternly across the servants, who lowered their heads even further. Madam Zheng's rationality finally returned, and she left with the words, "Get in here!"

Hu Ziyao's eyes were red and swollen. Seeing her like this, Zheng Mama felt heartbroken and could only urge her, "Miss, go inside quickly and comfort your mother!"

"Granny..." Hu Ziyao began, her voice trembling with tears, "What did I do wrong?"

"Miss, you haven't done anything wrong. You are Madam's only daughter, you can't do anything wrong, you're just too naive!"

"Granny!"

"Alright, go inside quickly!" Granny Zheng didn't say anything more to her!

Hu Ziyao entered her mother's room and saw her mother standing by the window, which was open. Madam Zheng had her back to her, and a brazier was burning in the corner. A cold wind blew in, dissipating all the warmth in the room, and Hu Ziyao shivered for no reason.

"Mother!" she called out cautiously.

Madam Zheng turned around abruptly, "Kneel down!"

Hu Ziyao was startled again.

Standing behind Hu Ziyao, Zheng Mama felt heartbroken seeing her like this. Everyone said that Master Hu was the most terrifying person and that the children were afraid of him, but what others didn't know, she knew very well. The children were not most afraid of Master Hu, but of Madam Zheng.

“Madam, Miss is still young and needs to be taught properly!” Granny Zheng, feeling sorry for Hu Ziyao, still offered a word of advice.

"She's still young? She's already fourteen! I heard that the second son's wife is also fourteen!" You say she's fourteen, but everyone else is fourteen too, so why are other people so infuriating?

"Mother, what did I do wrong?" As soon as Granny Zheng spoke up for her, Hu Ziyao burst into tears. "I just went to find that village girl. I just wanted to get justice for my fourth brother. Didn't you see how badly he was beaten?"

"I told you yesterday!" Madam Zheng said angrily, "Don't provoke them, don't provoke them! Did you ignore me? Hu Mingmei's body won't last much longer. Even if you hate that village girl, you have to put up with it. Didn't I tell you that yesterday?"

"Yes...but..."

"No buts!" Madam Zheng said, exasperated. "Why are you arguing with someone who's about to die? Even without Hu Mingmei, she wouldn't have been able to fly away, would she? I've told you before, control your temper, control your temper! How have you ever controlled it?!" Madam Zheng's chest heaved with anger as she thought about her daughter's foolish behavior today.

"Mother..." Seeing her mother so angry, Hu Ziyao rushed over and helped Madam Zheng sit down. "I was wrong, I was wrong!"

"Miss, you don't know, everyone's watching that village girl's belly right now," said Granny Zheng. "So, all we can do now is hope that things go well over there!"

**

When Hu Mingmei returned that evening, Bai Nuo recounted the events to him, checked the things her grandmother had left behind, and then asked, "When will preparations begin for the Treasure Pavilion? I need to go out; do you have access control or similar things here?"

"I've already chosen the address, but I still need you to confirm it," Hu Mingmei said calmly.

Bai Nuo nodded and decided to go with Jiang San Niang to take a look tomorrow.

Early the next morning, Bai Nuo went out with Hu Mingmei. After they left, Bai Nuo met up with Jiang San Niang, and Hu Mingmei left again.

"What are they busy with every day?" Jiang Sanniang asked Bai Nuo in a low voice, supporting her back and watching Hu Mingmei's back. "My husband comes home very late every day."

"I don't know!" Bai Nuo shook her head, looking at Jiang San Niang, whose face was somewhat pale. "How have you been these past few days?"

"It's alright, I guess!" Jiang San Niang recounted what had happened during her stay at the Lu family's house over the past few days. Bai Nuo frowned and asked, "Did your mother-in-law make things difficult for you?"

Jiang Sanniang's brows were filled with murderous intent. "She can't make things difficult for me. I'm pregnant, and my husband's heart is with me. That old hag, she even tried to push someone into my husband's room, but he pushed her away. If there's a next time, I won't let her get away with it!"

The prosperity of the capital city was incomparable to that of the town. Although both of them were worldly-wise, the level of prosperity here still amazed Bai Nuo and Jiang San Niang. The people here dressed in a way that was beyond what people in the town could match, and there were many shops. The address Hu Mingmei gave them was still quite far away. Bai Nuo was worried that Jiang San Niang would get tired, so she suggested, "There's a restaurant up ahead, let's go sit there for a while!"

Jiang San Niang nodded, and the two walked away hand in hand.

"Manager Bai, Manager Jiang!"

When I arrived at the restaurant and entered the lobby, I ran into an acquaintance—Zhang Wu.

Zhang Wu sat at the table by the window, his black hair adorned with a jade crown, dressed in magnificent robes, exuding an air of nobility, and looked at them with a smile.

A waiter came up to them eagerly, but Bai Nuo waved to him, "We can sit over there!" So she and Jiang San Niang walked over together.

Before they even got close, Zhang Wu was already pouring tea for them. Bai Nuo and Jiang San Niang didn't stand on ceremony with him, sat down, and asked with smiles, "What brings Young Master Zhang here?"

Like rain after a long drought, or meeting an old friend in a foreign land, it was a very happy thing to meet Zhang Wu here, regardless of whether I was familiar with him or not.

Zhang Wu watched them sit down, then instructed the waiter to remove the drinks and bring out a few more side dishes. He then looked at Jiang San Niang and said with a smile, "Congratulations, Manager Jiang!" He then added, "We planned to move all our businesses to the capital before the New Year, and I'm here to lead the way."
