Chapter 145 Saving Asgard
“Ger, look over there…”
Thor, standing to the side, stepped forward hesitantly and spoke to Gol. Thor wanted to continue, but hesitated for a moment and ultimately remained silent—such terrifying fire giants, unless his father were to rise from the dead and return to his prime, who could stop the fire giants from destroying Asgard?
Gel patted Thor on the shoulder and reassured him, "Don't worry, I'll get involved later."
Thor, speechless, nodded and retreated. Behind him stood many helpless Asgardian citizens. They naturally recognized Gol, having defeated Thor in the arena and frequently seen with Wanda in Asgard.
Upon hearing Gol's words, a faint glimmer of hope flickered in the eyes of the Asgardian people.
Gel slowly turned his head to look at Vision beside him, a kind expression on his face. He pointed to the Mind Stone on Vision's head and said, "I'd like to borrow it."
"Brother!" Wanda looked at Gel with a mixture of coquetry and surprise, her expression changing slightly. That was part of Vision's body; if the Mind Stone were removed, wouldn't Vision...?
If it had been someone else who said those words instead of Ger, Wanda probably would have turned hostile.
Judging from Wanda's tone, Gel knew that in just a few months, Wanda and Vision had developed some feelings for each other. Gel couldn't help but marvel at the strangeness of fate, while also feeling a mix of emotions he couldn't quite explain. After all, he had been both an older brother and a father figure since childhood, and he genuinely resented Vision, this "big jerk" who had stolen his sister away.
But now was not the time to think about that. Gel quickly suppressed his wandering thoughts and tapped Wanda's forehead, just like he had when Wanda was a child: "What are you thinking? Would I hurt Vision?"
Wanda then stuck out her tongue sheepishly, took a few steps back, and gave the space to Ger.
Gel looked at Vision and met his gaze. Vision nodded slightly, and Gel stretched out his hand. Two gems, one red and one orange, slowly floated up. Gel's chaotic energy passed through the two gems and wrapped around the top of Vision's head.
"Which one is the Soul Stone?" Wanda's eyes flashed with joy, and she couldn't help but jump for joy—there are six Infinity Stones, and Gale already has two. If he were to obtain the Mind Stone from Vision's head, he would possess a total of three Infinity Stones. This way, Gale could quickly resolve any difficulties he encountered, such as the current predicament in Asgard!
"Infinity Stones..." Thor murmured, looking at the Reality Stone and Soul Stone floating before Gale. After a moment, his eyes flickered, as if he had thought of something. But Thor glanced at Surtur, the fire giant outside the mothership, and swallowed the rest of his words.
"boom!"
Suddenly, a deafening sound entered the spaceship mothership and reached everyone's ears. Gel, Thor, Wanda, and the others all looked outside.
Asgard was now a sea of fire, with flames burning everywhere. The towering fire giant was pierced by many longswords, and his flaming giant sword smashed the green sword beneath Hela and continued its momentum, driving it deep into the ground of Asgard.
"I am the end of Asgard!"
The roar of the fire giant, accompanied by the tremors of the ground, echoed throughout Asgard. A surge of flames erupted from the point where the greatsword touched the ground, engulfing all remaining objects in the vicinity before suddenly receding.
Then comes the ultimate explosion!
The flames surged into the distance, encompassing a large portion of Asgard. As the fire giant's longsword continued to plunge deeper into the ground, the area engulfed by the flames expanded even further.
“Gel?” Thor felt a helplessness he had never experienced before. Looking at Gel, he was at a loss for words.
Knowing Thor's anxiety, Gol said earnestly to Thor, "Don't worry, Thor, now that I'm back, I will definitely help you protect Asgard."
Gel refocused his gaze on Vision, raising his other hand and channeling all the chaotic energy within him into the top of Vision's head—Vision's life was completely bound to the Mind Stone, and many of his vital functions originated from it. Therefore, removing the Mind Stone from Vision's head without harming him was an extremely difficult task, even with the help of the two Infinity Stones.
The flames outside were spreading wider and wider, with some even reaching high into the sky and sweeping towards the spaceship mothership, forcing the mothership to fly backward to avoid the attack.
As the flaming greatsword penetrated deeper, the tremors emanating from the Asgardian ground grew stronger and stronger, and Thor even began to doubt how much longer Asgard could hold out.
"Clang."
A faint voice sounded beside Thor, causing him to shudder and break out in a cold sweat. He looked to the side and saw that the Mind Stone above Vision's head had finally detached from Vision and was flying towards the two Infinity Stones in front of Gale.
A moment later, the crimson Reality Stone, the yellow Mind Stone, and the orange Soul Stone slowly rotated around Gale, radiating a dazzling light that inspired both awe and wonder. Gale flew towards the fire giant; though his figure was clearly visible, he arrived before the fire giant in the blink of an eye.
