After donning the black Spider-Man suit, Peter felt his eyesight was several times sharper than the night before. So even standing this far away, Peter could still clearly see all the personnel entering and exiting the S.H.I.E.L.D. entrance.
After waiting for nearly an hour, Peter felt an inexplicable surge of impulse, an impulse that wanted to drive him to rush into S.H.I.E.L.D. and forcefully drag Pierce out for interrogation. But Peter looked ahead, suppressing his inner urge, and simply waited quietly on the high-rise building.
A little while later, Pierce got into a black armored vehicle and drove off in one direction.
“They’re finally here.” Peter raised an eyebrow, immediately followed, and carefully avoided pedestrians and surveillance cameras.
Pierce's car drove away from the city center, eventually heading into a secluded area, and finally towards a villa near a river in the suburbs.
From the moment Pierce's vehicle drove into the villa, two armed guards stood at the gate, and there were patrol personnel in various other places.
Peter closed his eyes and listened carefully. He could hear several breathing sounds inside the villa. Five of them had steady, long breaths and particularly strong heartbeats.
“Interesting.” Peter circled the perimeter of the villa, getting a general idea of its layout, and then waited outside for the right moment.
The wind seemed particularly strong tonight, making the door creak. A guard patrolling around the villa looked around at the quiet surroundings and headed toward the bathroom in the backyard.
Charlie is ostensibly a bodyguard, but in reality, he is a Hydra spy responsible for helping Pierce handle various important matters.
He had only left the house to patrol because a higher-ranking agent was coming to meet with Pierce tonight. After all, the conversations and identities of the people inside were top secret, and no mistakes could be tolerated.
Charlie rushed into the bathroom, and suddenly everything went black. When he looked up, he saw a person dressed as Spider-Man standing in front of him.
But this is Pierce's villa, so why would Spider-Man be here?
“You…” Charlie immediately became alert, and as he opened his mouth, he quickly raised the arm holding the gun.
Seeing Charlie's actions, Peter shot two strands of spider silk, sealing his mouth and binding his hands respectively. Then he put his hand over Charlie's mouth and said, "Don't make any noise, or you'll suffer. Understand? If you understand, blink twice."
Charlie blinked twice quickly, and then saw Peter tear the spider silk off his mouth.
Charlie looked at Peter cautiously, only to find that the Spider-Man suit he remembered as always being red and blue had now turned completely black. He wondered: Could someone be impersonating Spider-Man?
But this person can also shoot out spider silk!
Charlie's instinct for disguise kicked in, and he immediately feigned confusion, asking, "I'm just a lowly bodyguard, I haven't done anything wrong, why are you arresting me?"
Charlie's impression of Spider-Man was that he was a hero, so at this moment, he even remembered the time he had carelessly thrown away a piece of trash a few days ago.
But it's just throwing out the trash, it shouldn't warrant being arrested and taken to the police station, right?
Peter smiled and pointed to the calluses on Charlie's hands: "These calluses on your hands are clearly from long-term shooting practice, and your physical fitness is extremely high. You couldn't achieve this without long-term, grueling training. Also, your heart rate didn't increase while you were talking to me, which shows your excellent mental fortitude. So, do you still want to call yourself a lowly guard?"
Charlie's expression immediately turned serious. He instinctively wondered if his identity had been exposed, but he quickly dismissed the thought. Hydra's secrecy was extremely tight; everyone outside believed Hydra was already destroyed, even Nick Fury thought so. Charlie didn't believe a mere Spider-Man could uncover their identities.
But he quickly found a new excuse: "I am actually an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and my main task is to secretly assist Director Pierce in handling some matters."
At this point, Charlie could already picture Peter immediately letting him go. As far as he knew, Spider-Man was a complete softie, kind-hearted and always willing to help others.
Charlie had heard from others that morning that Spider-Man, in order to prevent Abomination from harming the crowd, had even recklessly stood in front of everyone. If the white-robed wizard hadn't arrived in time, Spider-Man would probably have been turned into a puddle of mud long ago.
What kind of person would do something so stupid? If it were him, he would have run away long ago.
I believe Spider-Man would release him immediately once he knew he was with S.H.I.E.L.D.
Charlie became increasingly convinced that he would be immediately untied and receive an apology from Spider-Man. He even started thinking about how to restrain Spider-Man and teach him a lesson.
Involuntarily, a smug expression appeared on Charlie's face.
But the next moment, a heavy slap landed on Charlie's face.
"Smack!"
Somewhat stunned, Charlie couldn't believe the slap had come from his own face. It wasn't until he felt a sharp pain in his face and his head started to spin that Charlie was shocked to believe that the slap had indeed landed on his face.
Then, Charlie was furious: from childhood to adulthood, he was the one who bullied others, and no one had ever bullied him. This was the first time he had ever been slapped!
Charlie glared at Peter with resentment, determined to expose Spider-Man to the world from today onward: Spider-Man was not what they thought he was; he not only broke into a mansion but also slapped people!
