Chapter 78 The Destroyer Appears
The Frost Giant King's palace was carved out of an entire mountain, with only a few rays of light and snow filtering down from above, scattering throughout the palace. The entire palace, like the surroundings of Jotunheim, exudes a chilling atmosphere.
Loki walked slowly through the palace, under the watchful eyes of the many guards, until he stood before Laufey, the Frost Giant King.
Laufey, like all the Frost Giants, had iron-blue skin and red eyes, only taller than the other Frost Giants. At this moment, Laufey was sitting on the Frost Throne, looking down at Loki.
"Arrest him," Laufey said to his men the moment he saw Loki.
Several frost giant guards quickly raised their weapons and walked towards Loki.
Loki paid no attention to the approaching guards, but looked up at the Frost Giant King and said calmly, "Don't you care about all the things I've done for the Frost Giants?"
When Laufey heard Loki's words, he frowned slightly, waved to the guard, and the guard immediately understood Laufey's meaning and returned to his original position.
"So it was you who guided our people into Asgard back then." Laufey's red eyes gleamed slightly.
As someone who has lived as a king for thousands of years, the Frost Giant King Laufey has a clear understanding of everything.
Laufey even had some doubts about Loki's identity.
As far as he knew, Loki had suddenly appeared in Asgard, already in the form of a child. But as far as he knew, Frigga hadn't been pregnant during that time.
"To be honest, it was just for fun, to ruin my brother's big day, and at the same time, to protect my kingdom," Loki said calmly as he walked slowly.
Inside the ice palace, a relentless gale swept snowflakes everywhere, but as the wind passed through the cracks between the stones, it emitted eerie wailing sounds, adding to the oppressive atmosphere of the ice palace.
"What are you here to say today?" Laufey asked, shifting to a more authoritative posture.
“I want to make a deal with you.” Loki looked up at Laufey, his expression calm and composed. “I will cover your men as they enter Odin’s room, and then you can kill the sleeping Odin.”
"Why don't you kill him yourself?" Laufey's body jolted, and he asked in a cold voice.
Loki smiled slowly, as if he had heard something ridiculous, and looked directly into Laufey's eyes: "I think the Asgardians will not accept a king who murdered his predecessor."
“Then what do I need to do for you?” Laufey paused, then continued.
Loki's eyes suddenly turned cold, but his face still wore that smile: "I need you to help me kill a mage in Midgard."
Laufey shook his head and refused decisively: "You've come to me for help, so this Midgard mage must be stronger than you. I won't send so many soldiers to Midgard. The technology there has advanced dramatically, and there's also the Kamar-Taj, where even I have to take the Sorcerer Supreme seriously. Therefore, I won't rashly start a war with Midgard."
“I know.” Loki’s smile grew wider, but a chilling coldness lingered within it. “But what if you or your soldiers aren’t needed in Midgard?”
Inside the palace forged of ice and snow, the snow fell more and more heavily, while on Earth, it was a scene of springtime beauty.
For the past few days, Gol has been spending time with Saul, Jane, Daisy, and Eric. Under Gol's arrangement, the agents have set up several large tents nearby and even replaced Jane's original research tools with many new ones.
Over the course of a few days, the five of them grew much closer, including Ger and Thor.
It must be said that, apart from being a bit arrogant and haughty, Thor is a pretty good friend. In fact, you could say that Thor has many good qualities: he's easygoing, sincere, optimistic, and so on.
For example, right now, Saul and Jane are preparing dinner for Gol, Daisy, and Eric.
Daisy and Eric are discussing a difficult astronomical problem, while Gor is reading the message Wanda sent back.
Although Wanda went out to clear her head because she was angry, she would still send messages to Gel every day, telling him that she had a lot of fun these days and had made some good friends.
"Friends, come and enjoy our dinner. Jane and I prepared all of this; please have a taste. Of course, we must thank our friend Gel for providing such a sumptuous meal." Saul carried a plate and walked towards the table.
After all the food was laid out on the table, the five of them sat down.
The five people were currently inside Thor's tent. Like the other three tents, this tent was several hundred square meters in size, and its decorations and facilities were just like those of a luxury residence, with many decorative items on it, and even a vase of decorative flowers on the table.
"Thank you for the treat." Ger smiled, took the knife and fork, and began to taste the food.
Perhaps because he had lived in the United States for a long time, Gerrard was able to get used to all kinds of Western food.
At the table, Jane, Daisy, and Eric, as usual, began to eat and discuss various related topics, such as the Einstein-Rosen bridge and whether the mythological figures were real.
“If we could prove the existence of the Einstein-Rosen bridge and magic, it would certainly cause a stir in the scientific community. But without concrete evidence, you can’t convince other scientists that the Einstein-Rosen bridge, magic, and mythological figures are real.” Eric has always maintained a cautious attitude on this matter.
