At this moment, Geer had already flown into the air and was rapidly approaching the central building.
"fire!"
Inside the tank, the commander gave orders to the gunner, but after a long time, he did not see the gunner make any move. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the gunner had been completely strapped in with a seatbelt and was unable to move at all.
The tank commander stared dumbfounded at Gel, who was flying in the sky—was that really a person flying in the sky? They had deployed so many troops, and they hadn't even touched a hair on the enemy's head before they were almost completely wiped out!
When they were only a hundred meters away from the central building, an arrow shot out from the central building, piercing the air and approaching Geer.
Ger controlled the arrow's direction with his mind, but the moment the arrow was moved, the arrowhead suddenly scattered, and the long needles inside shot towards Ger from all angles like a shower of flowers.
Gel's speed did not decrease, but the long needle stopped automatically when it approached Gel, and then fell to the ground.
Arrow after arrow flew in, some capable of exploding, some even shooting out arcs of electricity, but they were all thwarted halfway before they could even get close to Geer.
"It's ready."
Gel sensed that Hawkeye seemed to want to continue shooting arrows, smiled in Hawkeye's direction, and then Hawkeye found himself completely unable to move.
At this point, Gale's magic couldn't control superhuman beings like Spider-Man or the Lizard, but it could easily control Hawkeye, who wasn't much stronger than an average person. If Gale hadn't wanted to demonstrate his power, Hawkeye wouldn't have had a chance to make a move in the first place.
After landing on the ground and entering the central building, Ger released Hawkeye's control and saw Natasha standing in the corridor of the central building, dressed in an exquisite little suit and with bright red lips.
Gel smiled and said, "Natasha, we're old acquaintances. You're not going to lay a hand on me, are you?"
Natasha smiled faintly and replied, "I'm just here to welcome you, Ger. Director Nick has already witnessed your abilities, so there's no more testing for him."
At this moment, Ger had already walked up to Natasha and glanced at her outstretched hand: "Welcoming is fine, but the miniature hypnotic needles on your hand are unnecessary, aren't they?"
Natasha instinctively tried to change her strategy, but found herself unable to move. Then she heard Ger's voice: "Since you're willing to use your beauty on me, don't blame me for killing your spirit."
Before Natasha could understand what Ger meant, she saw an arrow being shot from the direction Hawkeye was.
As the arrow reached Natasha, the arrowhead exploded, creating a large net that completely enveloped her, rendering her immobile. Only then did Ger withdraw his mind control over Hawkeye.
Hawkeye recalled the scene where he had involuntarily attacked Natasha, and couldn't help but shudder. He emerged from his hiding corner, his heart filled with mixed emotions, and looked at the departing Gel.
Gel continued upstairs, and when he reached Director Nick's office, he simply said "Open," and the bulletproof glass door, which normally required triple verification of iris scan, fingerprint, and digital password, opened automatically for Gel.
Director Nick sat upright in his seat, looking at the impeccably dressed Gel. His heart was churning with emotions, but he simply smiled and said, "Please sit down."
Gel sat down and took the coffee that Director Nick offered him: "I guess I've shown you my capabilities?"
Director Nick nodded, somewhat speechless—if this doesn't count as demonstrating strength, then what does?
After a moment of contemplation, Director Nick finally made up his mind: "This base has a mysterious object that I call the Cosmic Cube. It possesses very powerful energy, but we can't find a way to study it or control it, so we wanted to ask you to come and help us study it."
Upon hearing this, Gale's mind was in turmoil: he had originally joined S.H.I.E.L.D. to get close to the Tesseract, but he never expected that on his very first day, he would achieve his goal.
After a moment's thought, Ger calmly replied, "Help with the research? Sure. But since you've been researching for so long without finding a way to control it, I'm not sure I can be of much help to you."
Director Nick smiled and said, "As long as you help us with the research, that's enough. As for the results, I can't expect personal effort."
As the two were talking, Natasha, who had changed her clothes, walked in with Hawkeye.
Ignoring Natasha's somewhat "resentful" gaze, Ger continued to sip his coffee as if nothing had happened.
At this moment, Director Nick also stood up: "Let's go over there."
