Chapter 73: It wasn't just Shen Jiajia who hired someone to kidnap me, it was you who did it too, right? (1/2)

The rain outside the window was still falling, and a few low thunders were heard in the distance. The sky seemed to be torn apart, and occasional flashes of lightning shone through the gaps in the curtains and shone onto the walls of the lounge.

The raindrops hit the window, making tiny crackling sounds, as if composing a silent melody for the long night.

It was already dawn when Shen Liwu woke up. She sat up in horror, and someone suddenly held her arm down.

She turned sideways and saw Zhou Yanjing asking hurriedly: "Did the dean come to see me? Is there any problem with the antidote?"

"Don't worry, there are no adverse reactions. You have to have confidence in yourself."

Shen Liwu was relieved at this moment, she got out of bed, her hair was a little messy.

Zhou Yanjing came up to her, raised his hand to tidy up her hair, and gently brushed away the few strands of hair that fell on her forehead with his fingertips. His movements were gentle, as if he was treating a precious work of art.

"Let me check the situation. Today is a day off. If there is nothing else, we will go home."

Zhou Yanjing's hand rested on the ends of her hair, his eyes as deep as the sea under the night sky. He looked at her quietly, as if he wanted to absorb all her fatigue and anxiety into his sight.

"I'll go with you." His voice was low.

Shen Liwu looked up at him, a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes, and his lips moved slightly, as if he was considering something. She finally nodded, "Okay."

The two walked out of the lounge side by side. The smell of disinfectant in the corridor hit them in the face, and a cold breath filled the air.

The footsteps echoed in the empty corridor, sounding particularly clear. Shen Liwu's steps were a little more hurried than usual, and Zhou Yanjing followed closely beside her, like an unshakable mountain.

At the corner, several nurses hurried past, holding medical records and medicines in their hands, with serious expressions. One of the nurses saw Shen Liwu and immediately stopped and nodded respectfully, “Doctor Shen, the dean was just looking for you.”

"Where is he?"

"In the intensive care unit." The nurse pointed to the end of the corridor.

Upon hearing this, Shen Liwu quickened his pace and almost jogged. Seeing this, Zhou Yanjing silently quickened his pace, always keeping one step away from her, neither disturbing her nor letting her out of his sight.

The door of the intensive care unit was closed, but through the glass window one could see busy figures inside.

Shen Liwu pushed the door open and walked in. She originally thought something had happened, but she didn't expect the dean to almost burst from laughing.

"Hey, Doctor Shen, come here, take a look, their high fever has subsided, and the blue veins have retreated by half, this is good!"

Shen Liwu walked quickly to the bedside and carefully checked the girls' conditions. Her fingers gently rested on a girl's wrist, feeling her pulse. Her heartbeat gradually stabilized and her body temperature returned to normal. She breathed a sigh of relief and her tense shoulders relaxed a little.

"It seems that the antidote is indeed working," she said with a hint of relief in her voice. She turned to look at Dean Chen, a hint of joy flashing in her eyes. "We will continue to observe and ensure that there will be no recurrence."

The dean nodded repeatedly, and the smile on his face was as bright as the spring sunshine. “Doctor Shen, this time it’s all thanks to you! If you hadn’t researched the antidote overnight, the consequences would be disastrous.”

Zhou Yanjing stood aside, his eyes always fixed on Shen Liwu. Seeing her relaxed expression, the corners of his mouth rose slightly, and the heavy stone in his heart finally fell to the ground. He walked forward and asked softly, "Can you go home safely now?"

Shen Liwu looked back at him and nodded: “Okay.”

She looked at the dean and said, "Dean, tomorrow is Saturday. I'm going home. Please keep an eye on the hospital."
