He spoke slowly, his voice low but laced with sarcasm:
"Perhaps... she is the exception."
This seemingly casual sentence,
It was like a thunderbolt striking Yun Yang's heart.
She became instantly excited, almost shouting out loud:
"impossible!"
Her voice trembled, her eyes filled with resentment and jealousy.
He stared intently at Jing Min, trying to find a clue in his expression:
How could she be an exception?
Why are you making an exception for her?
Jing Min raised an eyebrow slightly, his tone indifferent and disdainful:
Why is it impossible?
Yun Yang's lips trembled, as if she was trying hard to think of a reason.
She shook her head, muttering incoherently:
"If she's the exception, then what about me?"
Why am I not the exception?
"You used to be really good to me...you gave me resources...you gave me money..."
Her voice grew weaker and weaker, and a strange glimmer of hope appeared in her eyes.
Jing Min's eyes darkened, and he interrupted her with a cold laugh:
"You don't know why I gave you money?"
His tone was icy, like a cold, emotionless trial:
"Didn't you switch things up and use that 'mermaid' story to imply something to me?"
"You took someone else's place, but then fabricated a version that fit your own experience, putting yourself in the position of a victim, making me feel guilty towards you."
"Yun Yang, you are really... shameless."
Yun Yang froze when she heard those words.
She stared blankly at Jing Min, her eyes filled with disbelief and panic.
It was as if he had touched upon a secret that had never been exposed to the light of day.
Jing Min curled his lips in disdain, his gaze sweeping over her like a blade:
Do you know why I know?
Yun Yang opened her mouth, but her throat felt blocked, and she couldn't say anything.
He could only shake his head, trembling.
Jing Min leaned back lazily in his chair, legs crossed, his tone laced with sarcasm and nonchalance:
"Because of the aftereffects of my injury, I can't sleep."
"And the stories you told me were completely useless."
“I tested you a few times. At the American ranch, you told the story of ‘The Little Mermaid’ for several days in a row, but I couldn’t fall asleep even once.”
He paused, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes, then chuckled softly and shook his head.
"Someone did tell me another story, which was quite helpful."
Speaking of which,
His gaze suddenly turned serious.
What does this mean?
"This proves that your claim that 'telling me this story while saving me made me feel at ease and fall asleep' is a lie."
"The story does exist, but you are not the storyteller, and you made up the content."
"Am I right, Yunyang?"
His voice was deep and powerful, his eyes fixed on Yun Yang like a hunter locking onto its prey:
"Since this is indeed true, then you must know who saved me? Or rather, who harmed me? Right?"
Yun Yang's body trembled, and a hint of fear flashed in her eyes.
She was like a wild beast cornered.
He shook his head in a panic, denying it:
"I...I don't know...I don't know anything!"
Jing Min looked at her coldly, his eyes filled with disdain and disgust:
"have no idea?"
His voice suddenly lowered, carrying a hint of threat and amusement:
"How did it feel just now?"
Yun Yang froze, her breathing becoming rapid, and a deep fear appeared in her eyes.
What does he mean by this? Is he going to drug her again?
