This would cause Petunia to feel even more guilty when she found out she had implicated Snape again, and she would then make some food and ask Lily to run errands to deliver it to Snape as an apology gift.
Lily was glad her sister didn't start a fight with her friend.
Petunia was glad Snape didn't blame her.
Snape was delighted with the extra treat.
All three are currently very satisfied.
The days passed, and the weather in January was still very cold. Snape was eagerly waiting for his acceptance letter.
An unstamped envelope made of heavy parchment, addressed in emerald green ink, arrived by a gray-brown owl.
On the top of the envelope was a wax seal and a coat of arms with a capital "H" surrounded by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake.
Snape carefully opened the envelope and unfolded his acceptance letter.
Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Albus Dumbledore (President of the International Confederation of Magic, President of the Wizarding Society, First-Class Magician of the Order of Merlin)
Dear Mr. Snape,
…
Joy spread from his heart to his whole body. The admission notice that he had been looking forward to since he could remember was finally in his hands.
"Peacock! I can go to Hogwarts!" Snape shared his excitement with Peacock.
Peacock collapsed while holding the notice: "Damn it! Why does school start in September?!"
She has to stay in this crappy place for so long!
Good news: I have the acceptance letter.
The bad news: It's still eight months away.
"But I'm already very happy." The wait was too long, so long that he began to doubt that what he knew was just a story made up by his crazy mother, and that magic and fairies were just his fantasies.
Only when he received the admission letter did he feel truly secure.
They quickly told Lily the good news. Lily was happy that Snape's acceptance letter had arrived, but also worried that her own acceptance letter had not arrived.
"It will come with your birthday," Snape said soothingly.
"Is Sev going to buy his stuff for school?" Lily asked Snape.
"certainly."
"Can you go a few days later? Come with me, and Mom and Dad will take us there." Lily and Snape's birthdays are very close, just at the beginning and end of the month.
This is certainly convenient, but...
"You will be taken there by your teacher, and I will be taken there by my mother." Snape still refused.
Lily nodded: "Well, I really hope that day will come soon."
In the evening, a thousand paper cranes landed in front of Lily's window. It was Snape telling her that he would go to Diagon Alley to buy things tomorrow and would not go to the grassy slope.
Irene had no intention of taking Snape with her. She just looked at the acceptance letter tiredly, and finally took out a small box from under the attic floor. Inside it were some gold Galleons, silver Sickles and some copper Knuts.
She stuffed the money into Snape's hand and said, "I'll take you there tomorrow. If you don't have enough money, I have some at home. Everything except the wand can be second-hand."
"Let's go and don't come back. This is not a good place anyway." Irene's voice became smaller and smaller until it could no longer be heard.
Snape didn't care, he just put the money away and looked forward to going to Diagon Alley to buy things tomorrow.
The next day, Irene picked up her wand, took Snape's hand and was about to leave. Peacock was hidden in Snape's bag and taken away together. Seeing the gray and dirty Leaky Cauldron, Peacock hesitated for a moment and said:
"I thought it would be a glamorous clothing store, and then there would be a door to the magical world in a fitting room, and after entering, there would be an amazing costume change.
Not a place where people with dust allergies die.”
Snape hesitated for a moment. "Rats feel right at home there."
This was the first time Snape and Peacock were in quite agreement.
