The uneventful days continued. No one else came after Yang Zizhong's visit. Qin Nan's online shopping clothes arrived, and after forcing Bai Hao to try them on and confirming they were okay, she washed and hung them to dry.
Before the clothes arrived, Bai Hao had been wearing Qin Nan's T-shirts. Luckily, Qin Nan liked to buy loose-fitting ones, so they fit Bai Hao well. However, Qin Nan always bought several of the same style of clothing, so when Qin Nan wore them, the two of them looked like they were wearing matching couple outfits.
Bai Hao didn't care at all. He just thought that Qin Nan's T-shirts with cartoon prints were better looking than the simple shirts and T-shirts that Qin Nan had chosen for him.
Qin Nan felt that Bai Hao's only good taste was in suits; everything else was off-limits!
Qin Nan bought the cartoon print T-shirt because it matched his personality and appearance. Although Bai Hao's looks also suited it, it still felt strange. Anyway, once Bai Hao's clothes arrived, Qin Nan took back his own T-shirt.
Bai Hao was in a bad mood for several days because of this, so much so that the little dragon cat didn't leave its villa, while Qin Nan was completely oblivious.
About ten days later, Qin Nan, feeling bored, started tending to the grapevines in the front yard again. The original grapevines were withered, so Li Cheng helped her plant a new one. She also cleaned and rebuilt the lotus pond and filled it with water.
Qin Nan bought more than a dozen koi and put them into the pond. She also scattered lotus seeds and threw away lotus roots. Whether lotus flowers will grow next year is up to fate. A new set of artificial hills was placed next to the lotus pond, and three plum trees were planted next to the artificial hills.
The view from this corner of the front yard is quite beautiful. There are flower bushes and a few weeping willows in front of the toilet on the right. There are only two stone paths leading to the toilet, and the toilet doors are all floor-to-ceiling glass, so the lighting is very good and it doesn't look gloomy.
As for the well next to the toilet, Qin Nan has not gone near it since it was repaired. He always feels a chill in the air. He never had this feeling when he lived at home. He just felt it was unsafe near the well, so he rarely went there.
There is a large open space between the main gate and the front hall, which should logically be used to place a stone guardian or a screen wall. However, because Grandpa needs space for his early morning activities, outdoor family meals, and occasional banquets, it has always been empty. The open space in the backyard is relatively small, so it can only be used to place flowers and plants and hang clothes to dry.
Qin Nan tidied up the corridor with the grape trellis and hung six hanging plants in an orderly fashion. Just as she finished, she heard someone knocking on the door and came in.
Qin Nan kept the gate open during the day because Bai Hao said Yang Zizhong would come back. Sure enough, when Qin Nan turned around, she saw Yang Zizhong and his bodyguards had come again, but they looked quite different from last time. They looked haggard, their hair was unkempt, and they had injuries on their foreheads, faces, and wrists.
"Mr. Yang?" Qin Nan went over to greet the two.
"Brother Qin, is Boss Bai here?" Yang Zizhong seemed a little anxious.
"Yes, Mr. Yang, please come in." Qin Nan led the two into the front hall with some doubts. Sure enough, Bai Hao was already sitting and drinking tea.
Bai Hao was dressed fairly well today: a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, one button undone at the collar, black trousers, and white sneakers. He originally wore leather shoes, but Bai Hao refused to wear them, so he had no choice but to mix and match.
Overall, it was much better than the last time he entertained guests, but Yang Zizhong probably wasn't in the mood to pay attention to that this time.
"Boss Bai, please help me resolve this matter. Money is no object!" Yang Zizhong said anxiously as soon as he entered the room and saw Bai Hao.
Bai Hao: "Mr. Yang, please sit down, have a cup of tea to calm your nerves, and speak slowly. Of course, I hope you will tell the truth."
Yang Zizhong looked slightly embarrassed. He slowly sat down, picked up the tea that Qin Nan had brought him, blew on it but didn't drink it, and finally put it down.
"I'm sorry, I was vague last time. It's true that I first saw her in the mirror at the resort hotel. It was just a fleeting glimpse. After I got home, I saw her in the mirror frequently, with the intervals between her appearances getting shorter and the durations getting longer. But my wife and children said they didn't see anything. I had no choice but to move to the company residence. Then, something happened at the company..."
Yang Zizhong paused, seemingly somewhat regretful, "The one who had the accident was my secretary. The glass door to my office suddenly shattered, and she was seriously injured and hospitalized..."
"Are you still hiding something?" Bai Hao suddenly interrupted, his face dark and his voice cold. "Or will you tell the truth after someone dies?"
Yang Zizhong looked at Bai Hao and suddenly felt a sense of fear. This feeling was even more terrifying than when he was facing the ghost. He was so frightened that he wiped the cold sweat from his trembling hands. His eyes were somewhat unfocused. He hesitated for a moment, as if he was making up his mind.
"That night she was on duty, and there were only two of us. We were in the office... doing, doing... I had just taken off her clothes and carried her to the desk when I turned around to close the door. The glass on the desk shattered, and her back was covered in blood. She was seriously injured and hospitalized."
I thought it was probably meant for me, so I replaced everything in my office with wooden ones, and even the water cups with plastic ones. But at night, I always felt like someone was watching me!
Yang Zizhong was pale and somewhat exhausted.
Qin Nan had already unconsciously clung to Bai Hao. Helpless, Bai Hao reached out and gently patted Qin Nan's back. Qin Nan felt a warm current surge through her body and calmed down, but she still huddled next to Bai Hao.
Qin Nan could have gone to the backyard and ignored it, but he was extremely curious! Besides, Bai Hao was there, so he stayed.
Yang Zizhong wouldn't normally trust people like this, but at times like this, life is the most important thing!
"I felt someone was there, so I had cameras and recorders installed, but there was nothing there. But I still felt like they were still there, watching me, and it gave me the chills!"
Yang Zizhong swallowed hard. "Then I went to see a psychologist. He said I was fine and normal. It was probably neurasthenia caused by excessive mental stress. I went to the hospital for a checkup. The doctor said I did have some symptoms of neurasthenia, but it wasn't serious. He prescribed some medication for me, and I thought I was just sick."
Then I moved back home, and I noticed that things in the house had been disturbed. At first, I thought it was the children, but my daughter cried and moved out, and my wife also went back to her parents' house in anger. Only the housekeeper, the nanny, and I were at home. They all said that nothing had been touched, so I installed security cameras, and then…”
Bai Hao: "Did the thing move by itself?"
“Yes!” Yang Zizhong’s lips trembled slightly. “Then I found several masters to come to my house to take a look. Each time they came, I could stay calm for a few days, but it was never completely cured. It would start again after a few days, and it would get worse and worse!”
Qin Nan gripped Bai Hao's clothes and listened intently. Yang Zizhong's explanation was simple, but thinking about it in person was truly terrifying!
