After tidying up Qin Nan, Bai Hao scooped up Chi Ran and transformed her into a four-year-old girl. She was wearing a white dress made of scales, and her skin was soft, white, and incredibly cute.
Bai Hao transformed back into his beast form, carrying Qin Nan and Chi Ran, and first took them back to the desolate mountains of the Mirage Realm to settle down.
Once on the ground, Chi Ran leaned on Qin Nan's shoulder, held by him, and didn't dare to look up at Bai Hao, feeling that she was about to be scolded.
Seeing this, Bai Hao couldn't say what he wanted to say. He was close to Chi Wei, and naturally, he cared about his sister. It was really dangerous for a cub to be alone so late without any beasts around.
Even the most powerful beasts are vulnerable in their youth, and if they encounter a malevolent adult beast, they will inevitably suffer.
Qin Nan gave Bai Hao a brief explanation, telling him to contact her parents and that they must be very worried when they found the cub was missing.
Bai Hao nodded helplessly and contacted Chi Ran's parents.
Qin Nan hugged Chi Ran and gently patted her back to reassure her. Chi Ran tilted her head and blinked as she looked at Qin Nan, who was gently comforting her.
Chi Ran: "Hey big brother, who are you? Are you with Bai Hao like my parents?"
Qin Nan smiled and said, "Yes, my name is Qin Nan. You can call me Brother Anan, just like your brother does."
Chi Ran: "Okay~ Brother Anan, is my brother still alive? Is he doing well? I haven't seen him in so long."
Qin Nan: "That's great, there are many of your brother's friends with him... Wait, I remember the cubs should have all been sent to the human world, why is Ranran still in the Mountain and Sea Realm?"
Chi Ran: "Ranran doesn't want to leave her parents, and Lord Water Dragon is here too, so Ranran isn't afraid! Ranran won't go to the human world unless her parents go too. Ranran is still young. When Ranran is as old as her brother, Ranran will dare to go out alone!"
Qin Nan looked at Chi Ran's serious face and her firm clenched fist, and couldn't help but chuckle and pinch her little face.
Qin Nan: "Hmm, Ranran, don't be afraid, it's okay. When Ranran grows up, you can visit your brother's house. Your brother will cook you something delicious. Aren't you very hungry? Let Brother Bai Hao get you something to eat."
Chi Ran: "Mmm! Okay!"
Chi Ran leaned on Qin Nan's shoulder with a smile. She was actually very tired after swimming all day, but she had mustered up her last bit of strength because she was thinking about seeing familiar people and having food. Now she didn't want to move at all.
I don't know what Bai Hao said, but a little while later Bai Hao came over with a dark face.
Qin Nan: "What's wrong? Did you get in touch with her? Brother Hao, could you find Ranran something to eat? She probably hasn't eaten all day."
Bai Hao decisively pulled out a handful of Zhu Yu grass, and Chi Ran reached out and took it with a resentful look in her eyes, putting it into her mouth.
Waaaaah, Brother Bai Hao really doesn't like her anymore. He could have gotten her fish, but he insisted on feeding her grass.
But she was really hungry, and having run away from home against her will, she dared not be picky about what she had to eat.
Bai Hao: "Let's go, take Ranran back to Qinglong. Her parents can't come back, let Meng Zhang look after her for a while, and we'll talk about it when they get back."
Chi Ran: "Brother Bai Hao, where did Mom and Dad go?"
Bai Hao: "Don't cry, they have important business to attend to. They'll stay with your Uncle Qinglong for a few days, and then they'll come back to pick you up."
Although Chi Ran was disappointed, she still nodded obediently. Although her eyes were a little misty, she still listened and did not cry. She wrapped her little arms around Qin Nan's neck and rested her head on his shoulder.
Because she was full and didn't have to worry, Chi Ran felt tired after relaxing and soon fell asleep in Qin Nan's arms.
Qin Nan carefully carried her and followed Bai Hao up the stone steps, returning to the mirage once again.
This time, the two went directly to the island in the middle of the lake.
Meng Zhang was fishing by the lake when he heard the sound and turned around. He was surprised to see the cub in Qin Nan's arms.
Meng Zhang: "No way, so fast?"
Bai Hao: "...She is Chi Wei's younger sister, Chi Ran."
Meng Zhang: "Oh, I knew it wasn't normal."
Bai Hao: "Hmm... I'll leave this cub with you for a few days."
Meng Zhang: "Huh?"
Bai Hao: "It should be a cub that Xi Rou was looking after. It ran away while playing and got lost. You just happened to find it. Are you sure you don't want to keep it?"
Meng Zhang: "...I highly doubt that this was just a coincidence."
Bai Hao: "It's not like I picked it up."
Meng Zhang looked at Qin Nan, who nodded shyly.
Meng Zhang sighed softly: "Put it on the soft couch. I'll look after it for now. Have you gotten the item?"
Qin Nan carefully put Chi Ran down and sat down next to Meng Zhang.
Qin Nan: "I got it, everything went smoothly, but I can't leave the Mirage Realm for the time being, so I probably won't be able to go to the market tomorrow."
Meng Zhang: "Has something changed?"
Qin Nan: "Yes, it's been too long, and the brocade can't hold up anymore. But we still have time, it's just that it's easy to be discovered, so we need to avoid it."
Meng Zhang nodded: "That's good. He's already very capable. He chose a good spot to hide for so long. Once the scroll is repaired, it can temporarily conceal its aura."
Qin Nan: "Yes, I'm sorry to bother you."
Meng Zhang couldn't help but chuckle: "What you're saying doesn't sound very pleasant."
Qin Nan couldn't help but smile: "If you're just being polite, you won't feel comfortable refusing."
Meng Zhang: "Alright, I'm more convinced that we were indeed old acquaintances."
Bai Hao stood to the side, looking up at the bright moon in the night sky. The feeling of being further and further away from Qin Nan actually dissipated a little. It was as if he wanted to participate in it too.
Bai Hao knew Meng Zhang because the Four Divine Beasts had visited the Bai Ze clan and held a gathering there, while Qin Nan seemed to have known Meng Zhang even earlier, as if they were from the same era.
Thinking of this, Bai Hao suddenly had a picture flash before his eyes. In the picture, he seemed to be holding a picture in his mouth. Because it flashed by so briefly, he could hardly remember the details.
