Chapter Ninety-Six
Jiang You was taciturn. She could definitely sense that the man liked her.
Yet she was so ordinary, so unremarkable, the kind of person you'd easily blend into a crowd. Her previous experiences and knowledge told her this was impossible.
So even if they realize it, they quickly deny it.
Although there are examples of outstanding men like Xia Yan and Song Yun who are attracted to her.
At this moment, Xia Beiqian's pupils were surging with emotion, much deeper than usual, and filled with a burning desire that flowed over her.
His large hand did not stop because she was silent.
His fingertips slid across her cheek, creating a ripple, then moved to the hem of her clothes, slipped inside, and touched her waist.
His fingers, like his brother's, were ice-cold.
Jiang You frantically pressed his hands down, trying to understand her more deeply: "Xia, Brother Xia Bei, we're not suitable, I, I..." I don't like you either.
Without the support of her hands, she collapsed completely onto the sofa.
“You seem out of touch with reality,” Xia Bei chuckled cryptically, then withdrew his hand.
Jiangyou was puzzled.
"You have neither a brilliant mind nor a figure to be proud of, nor a face that captivates at first glance," Xia Bei said casually, looking down at her.
"Why do they all like you? Xia Yan, Song Yun, Lu Shi'an, and Xiao Sinian. This Xiao Sinian has quite a background; he wanted to investigate you, but I stopped him."
Jiang You's eyelashes trembled.
“These people are extremely rare, practically a handful even within their social class. As far as I know, they didn't play any strange betting games. So don't you find that strange?”
Jiang You's face turned pale as those thoughts he had been desperately trying to suppress resurfaced.
So what is she? A monster?
As she was thinking this, the man's ethereal voice rang in her ears.
Instantly, my hair stood on end, and I got goosebumps.
"There seems to be a strange attraction about you that can't be explained by science."
The tone was flat yet threatening.
Xia Bei and Xia Yan have very similar eyes; they are peach blossom eyes with a light amber hue.
But compared to his younger brother, the older brother's upturned, captivating, dangerously alluring eyes were even more alluring.
His clear, shallow eyes were filled with her reflection. He leaned closer and kissed her chin, then continued kissing her down her neck, her collarbone...
Jiang You thought about Xia Bei's words and hesitated to push her away.
Her breathing became more and more rapid. She pushed him away abruptly and stood up.
Xia Bei didn't expect Jiang You to push him away. He sat up lazily on the sofa and watched the girl tidy up her clothes with a calm and composed expression.
He spoke slowly and deliberately:
"I thought you would understand. After all, with your strange constitution, you need to choose a man with immense power to avoid being fought over. Obviously, I am the right person for you, aren't I?"
He was being mild-mannered. It's just a minor skirmish among the younger generation; it hasn't escalated to the level of the older generation yet.
For example, in the Xia family, if the younger brother marries a commoner woman, there would be no problem.
But if this commoner woman were to cause conflict and estrangement among the brothers, then for the older generation, the harmony and stability of the family would be paramount.
They wouldn't care whether the woman was innocent or not; in order to maintain family harmony, they would do it without hesitation, even if it would harm the woman or violate common sense and morality.
It is important to understand that the decline of any family often hides complex reasons, but the most crucial and fatal factor is internal discord.
Therefore, from the moment Xia Yan learned that her older brother liked Jiang You, even though she was filled with endless resentment, she would not ask her family for help.
All of this was within Xia Bei's calculations. When his younger brother was in the country, he was the one who had something to worry about. But when his younger brother was abroad, that concern shifted to his younger brother.
What Xia Bei didn't expect was that the girl, who seemed weak and easily bullied, was surprisingly stubborn.
Jiang You lowered his head and said softly, "I need to think about it."
