Chapter 39 Even if I die, it has nothing to do with me

Zhou Yueming nodded: "The child is fine."

He was surprised when he heard about this.

Yun Zhaozhao's baby had been showing signs of miscarriage, and after all that trouble in S City, it was a miracle that she was unharmed after falling down the stairs.

"Once Zhaozhao wakes up, we should talk to her properly and try to keep the child."

Zhou Yueming said.

This child is incredibly lucky; he survived several ordeals, which means he wasn't meant to die.

Zhou Xiao nodded: "But it still depends on Zhao Zhao's choice."

As the two were talking, a nurse rushed over: "Director Zhou, there's a patient's family member causing a scene in the VIP area."

"What's all the fuss about?"

Zhou Yueming asked.

“Her daughter was brought in with severe bleeding, and the baby could not be saved. She doesn’t accept this and has now called a lawyer to sue us.”

The nurse sounded very aggrieved, saying that the patient was already in that condition when he was brought in, and they had done their best, but the family just wouldn't accept it.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yueming frowned and asked, "What's your name?"

Those who can stay in VIP rooms are usually influential people; he'll see if he can resolve this privately.

"The patient's name is Clerk."

Hearing the nurse's words, both siblings were taken aback. Zhou Xiao was the first to react and immediately said happily, "Karma! Serves them right!"

Zhou Yueming glared at her, and she retorted with her neck stiff, "Brother, you can scold me, but I have to say it. I deserve it."

Zhou Yueming didn't say anything more to her, only asking her to go to Yun Zhaozhao's ward and keep an eye on her, as Yun Zhaozhao should wake up soon. He then turned to find Pei Jiuyan.

His family members are naturally his responsibility to handle.

Upstairs in the VIP ward, Pei's mother was arguing with the doctor: "How could it be that we couldn't save it? We brought it to the hospital immediately."

The doctor was exasperated; she was tired of explaining.

Before Pei's mother could speak again, she saw her son approaching and quickly said, "Jiuyan, go and see! Shuwen lost her baby. She's heartbroken and crying inside."

As she spoke, she reached out to pull her son, but Pei Jiuyan shook her off and looked coldly at his mother.

"Mom, Zhaozhao is your daughter-in-law. Shouldn't you show her some concern first?"

Mother Pei was taken aback, her face darkening as she said, "I have never acknowledged her as my daughter-in-law."

"Then why did you bother her, making her keep you company and cook for you?"

Pei Jiuyan felt more and more heartbroken. He would feel sorry for Yun Zhaozhao even if she cut her hand, so he would never be willing to let her cook.

Her mother not only tormented her, but also threw away the food she had worked so hard to make, and even said that even a dog wouldn't eat what she made.

He didn't know how his little princess could endure it; she was clearly someone who couldn't stand being wronged and never suffered injustice.

However, she never mentioned a single word to him.

Upon hearing this, Pei's mother's expression changed, and she frowned, saying, "Jiuyan, do you have to tell me this now? Wenshu miscarried, she..."

Before she could finish speaking, Pei Jiuyan interrupted her, saying, "What does her miscarriage have to do with me? Even if she dies, it has nothing to do with me."

"Jiuyan, why do you say that?"

Pei's mother couldn't believe that her son could say such cold words: "If it weren't for the document, I would have died long ago. She is our family's benefactor."

Pei Jiuyan stared at his mother and said, word by word, "She is your benefactor, not mine."

Besides, he had already repaid the debt of gratitude owed to the clerk. Back then, he almost caused Zhaozhao's death in order to save the clerk.

The thought of it made him feel breathless; he shouldn't have worried so much.

While his mother was still in a daze, Pei Jiuyan sent the doctors and others away and pushed open the door to the ward to go inside.

The clerk seemed to have just been crying; her eyes were still red. When she saw Pei Jiuyan come in, her eyes held a hint of resentment.

“I pushed you. Your miscarriage was because of me, not Zhaozhao. Don’t blame her.”

The document's eyes flashed, and it looked somewhat distressed: "How could I have done that? Jiu Yan, why do you think of me like that? Even if it were you, I wouldn't blame you, you didn't do it on purpose."

"I did it on purpose."

Pei Jiuyan interrupted the document.

The clerk looked at Pei Jiuyan in disbelief, unable to believe that he would say such a thing.

Did you push Zhaozhao?

"I don't."

The clerk was so anxious that she didn't even bother to pretend anymore, "I didn't push her."

What did you say to her?

Pei Jiuyan asked coldly. He had just called back to ask the housekeeper, who said he saw Zhao Zhao bump into Wenshu as she came out of the study. He didn't know what the two said, but Zhao Zhao suddenly became very agitated.

The clerk's expression changed slightly, and he quickly said, "I didn't say anything. I just noticed that she looked unwell, so I asked her what happened. She became agitated and fell down by herself."

Pei Jiuyan stared at the document with icy eyes. For a moment, the document felt as if she were being watched by a wild beast, rendering her unable to move.

"You'd better not let me find out you're lying."

Pei Jiuyan turned and left after saying this, while the scribe broke out in a cold sweat.

Thinking of her previous conversation with Yun Zhaozhao, she pursed her lips, seemingly a little worried.

In another ward, Yun Zhaozhao had already woken up. She was feeling extremely dizzy, and Zhou Xiao was still chattering away beside her. She quickly gestured for him to be quiet for a while.

"Don't talk so fast, I'm dizzy."

Zhou Xiao quickly stopped talking, fed Yun Zhaozhao a sip of water, and waited for her to calm down before asking:

"How did he fall from the building? Was it that green tea bitch in the clerk's hands?"

It has to be said that Zhou Xiao truly deserves to be Yun Zhaozhao's best friend; he always hits the nail on the head.

Yun Zhaozhao shook her head: "No."

Her fall was indeed related to the documents, but it wasn't because the documents pushed her; rather, it was because of what the documents said.

Thinking of what the document said, Yun Zhaozhao burst into tears, which terrified Zhou Xiao.

"Honey, why are you crying? Does your head hurt? Don't scare me."

Everyone says Yun Zhaozhao is delicate, but she has rarely cried since she was a child. The few times she remembers crying were once because of an accident that happened to the Yun family, and another time because of Pei Jiuyan.

"Zhou Xiao, tell me, my parents rushed back because of me, right?"

"You all know, right?"

Yun Zhaozhao suddenly spoke up and asked.

Zhou Xiao was surprised that she would suddenly say this, her expression changed, and she immediately walked outside.

"Was it that bitch Wenshu who said it? I'll go tear her mouth apart. And Pei Jiuyan, that bastard, he clearly said he wouldn't tell, but he actually told that green tea bitch Wenshu."

Yun Zhaozhao could no longer hear Zhou Xiao's words. Her eyes were filled with pain. It turned out that what the document said was true. She had indeed killed her parents and brother.

If she hadn't argued with Pei Jiuyan that day, if she hadn't gone to the Zhou family that day, perhaps none of this would have happened.
