Chapter 54 Gasoline, Diesel, and Nature

The landlord was happy that the farmhouse was rented out smoothly, and he became even more amiable towards Li Ke.

Hearing his questions, she replied enthusiastically, "I do know two people. I'll get in touch with them for you. When do you have time? I'll have someone come over so you can meet and talk to each other to see if you want to collaborate."

Li Ke then handed a pack of good cigarettes to the landlord, asking him to inquire if the other party was interested, and that he could directly give them his number.

By the time Li Ke left the suburbs where the farmhouse was located, it was already 3:50 p.m. She got off the bus near the city center, found a place, changed her clothes again, got a new phone, and then dialed Zhang Tao's number.

Li Ke now has four fixed identities: one is the woman mask who deals with Zhou Heng, another is Xiao Zhou who buys grain with Boss Liu, another is Chu Ming who just went on a shopping spree in H City, and now he also has the identity of a bald farmhouse owner.

Considering that the deal with Zhang Tao wasn't completed in one go, Li Ke now had the added image of a young man with a small mustache. Li Ke told Zhang Tao on the phone that his surname was Zhao.

Li Ke had very little gasoline and diesel in her space. Currently, the only person she could think of who could buy large quantities of gasoline and diesel privately was Zhang Tao.

Zhang Tao recently lost a large sum of money and is definitely eager to make money now. There's no reason for him not to accept the business opportunity she's offering him.

Li Ke and Zhang Tao agreed on the phone to order 30 tons of gasoline and 30 tons of diesel, respectively, for a package price of 650,000 yuan, with the transaction to be completed within a week.

Zhang Tao told him that five tons of gasoline and five tons of diesel could be sold tonight. He needed to collect 150,000 yuan upfront, plus a 50,000 yuan guarantee fee. Li Ke would have to pay him a total of 200,000 yuan.

Li Ke knew Zhang Tao's background and wasn't afraid of him playing tricks, so she readily agreed. The two of them discussed the location of the transaction over the phone, which was in a small grove on the outskirts of the city. That grove was only three kilometers away from Chen Niansheng's small gas station.

The meeting was scheduled for after 10 p.m. Li Ke checked the time and saw that it was still early, so he used his phone to check nearby bottled water suppliers and then took his used truck out of his storage space.

Then, after making nearly twenty trips to four different water suppliers, Li Ke bought about sixty tons of purified water. At 9:30 p.m., he drove to the transaction location.

Li Ke's truck, carrying two ten-ton water towers, drove through the darkness. The suburban highway had few streetlights, and many were dim, but this made it perfect for such clandestine transactions.

Meanwhile, two oil tankers were parked on the path next to the grove of trees. Zhang Tao and his two drivers were squatting by the roadside smoking. When they saw Li Ke arriving in his truck, they asked him in surprise, "Xiao Zhao, you only have one truck? Are you kidding me? This truck can't carry this much oil!"

Li Ke parked the truck in the side road, unloaded the two water towers from the truck, and placed them in front of the two oil tankers.

Then he said to Zhang Tao, "My brothers will be here to pick me up in a bit. Now just pump all that oil into the water tower."

Zhang Tao was still a little worried and pulled him aside, saying, "Xiao Zhao, I've never seen anyone haul oil like you. How are you going to put the water tower back later?"

Li Ke pretended to reach for a cigarette to avoid Zhang Tao's attempt to pull him, handed him a pack of cigarettes, and then gave a pack to each of the two drivers standing nearby. He then said with a smile, "Don't worry, my friend will be coming over in a crane later. If there's no other way, I won't waste this money, right? You just need to keep putting oil into the water tower."

Since the buyer had already said so, Zhang Tao and the others naturally wouldn't say anything more. The two drivers went to pump out the oil, and Li Ke followed them with a flashlight to check the quality of the oil.

After confirming that there were no problems, and after all the gasoline and diesel from the two tanker trucks were drained and repackaged, Li Ke handed over the agreed-upon 200,000 yuan in cash to Zhang Tao for him to count.

Using the flashlight, Zhang Tao carefully counted the 200,000 yuan in cash, then asked Li Ke if they needed to wait there for a while so he could help entertain his friend when he arrived.

Li Ke said there was no need, and told them to just go ahead, as his friend would have to wait a while to arrive.

The two parties agreed on the time for the next oil delivery, and Zhang Tao left with the two oil tankers.

After confirming that everyone had left, Li Ke carefully observed the surrounding activity before quickly storing the two water towers into his personal space. He then stored the truck in his space as well, took out his motorcycle, and drove away via another side road.

When Li Zhenzhen returned to the Chen family villa, Chen Jiaojiao was taking a shower in her room, her mind still replaying the cruel acts Li Ke had committed against her.

Overwhelmed with resentment and with nowhere to vent her anger, she screamed and smashed all the bottles and jars in the bathroom.

Li Zhenzhen knocked on the door for a long time before Chen Jiaojiao heard her. She put on a bathrobe and came out of the bathroom to open the door for Li Zhenzhen.

Seeing that Chen Jiaojiao's hair was still dripping wet, Li Zhenzhen walked past her and went into the room. She didn't say anything when she saw the messy things at the entrance of Chen Jiaojiao's bathroom, but went over and sat down on the large sofa in front of Chen Jiaojiao's bedroom window.

Rubbing her temples, she asked wearily, "What exactly happened? Why would she attack you?"

Chen Jiaojiao then recounted her morning encounter with Li Ke, downplaying the important parts.
