Chapter 63: Let’s go first, it’s worth sleeping
Lust came like the fever of an infectious disease, his body suddenly became hot, and at the same time the temperature spread to Wen Jing, which was no different from being sick - they were just dizzy and wanted to ascend to heaven.
His heart pounded as he blurted out, "How are you going to punish me?"
She lifted his arms above his head and pinned them to the headboard. "Look, I'm going to find something to tie you up."
He was stunned at first, then burst into laughter. "Oh my God, you don't have that kind of hobby, do you? Where did you learn it?"
"Are you afraid of me?"
"It's a little unexpected, but... everyone has some weird hobbies."
"There's no chance. It's too late to run. No one will come to save you even if you scream." She leaned over him, her breasts drooping over his heart. A fiery desire burned her throat. She kissed him, her teeth biting his lips. "Well, I'm a pervert."
“No, you are just horny.”
"Yeah, they say you can make up after a fight, and if you have any problems, just sleep them over. I rarely thought about these things when I was twenty, but now I'm in my thirties, I keep thinking about them. Am I at the age where hormones are controlling me?"
"This is a very normal thing. People think about it when they are 20, 30, 40 or 50."
"Besides thinking about it, is it normal for you to eat it?"
"Ah, it hurts. I was cooked and eaten in hot pot—" He groaned in pain a few times. "To be honest, it's not normal, but I don't have any objections. It's up to you. Eat whatever you want. After all, my body and soul belong to Miss Li Wenjing."
"Okay, then let me ask you a question first," Li Wenjing rested her chin on his neck and looked into his pupils, which were gleaming in the dim light outside the window. "When did you start to like me?"
He blinked a few times. "I'm not sure. I just seem to miss you so much all of a sudden. I don't have much work in Mombasa. Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to see you. I must have liked you for a long time."
Then she laughed again, "At least it wasn't the first time someone called the police and sent me to the police station. I was really angry at the time, so rude. I tried to explain for a long time but she didn't believe me..."
Li Wenjing bumped her head against his cheek, and he cried out in pain again.
"Me too. He keeps saying he's a doctor, but he dresses like a bad guy and has long hair. He doesn't look like a serious guy at all."
"Why are you asking me this?"
"Nothing, just bibi, who fell in love with who first?"
"What's the result?"
"I lost, alright."
"Is there a prize if I win?"
"Sorry, no! If you fell in love with me first, it means I'm attractive. If you fell in love with me later, it proves I'm capable, so I didn't lose," Li Wenjing said. "From the second I saw you, I knew you weren't a bad person, and I liked you almost immediately. The reason is pretty simple—you're handsome, and you're a very pleasant person to get along with...all good in every way. Besides, let alone handsome guys, I haven't even seen a normal person in such a long time. My friend even told me, 'Go ahead and sleep with them first, it won't be a loss.'"
"God! So that's how you thought of me from the beginning! It was so close, I almost ran back to Paris."
"I didn't expect it would cause me so much trouble. I finally got you. Shouldn't I reward myself? Why, you're not happy?"
"Okay, what do you want to do?"
"Guess what I want to do."
"I won't say anything more. If you keep talking, you'll just tease me again. You'll definitely say you want to 'fuck me'. That's what you think, right?"
"Then what?"
"And then... ummmm... I screamed my throat out but no one came to save me, something like that."
"Nonsense! How could I be that bad? Don't move..."
Wen Jing leaned over, groping for the nightlight by the bedside. His hands immediately fumbled around her waist, and she staggered with laughter, punching him as she did so. He grabbed her, and they both tumbled under the bed. The floor was covered with a carpet of woven cattails. The moment her body sank, the dry grass made a subtle, crackling sound. A sun-baked plant fragrance rose from the slightly fishy earth, enveloping her naked body.
Li Wenjing looked at his face, and he was looking back at her. His eyelashes, so close, cast a small, pale blue shadow under the nightlight. She moved her fingers to hook them around his neck. As the Adam's apple rolled between her fingertips, the rough fibers rubbed against his body, like roots growing from the grass stems, sinking into the earth beneath him.
The spicy, hot taste lingered on her skin until the next day. The scent of cattails and his breath intertwined, entangling her heart, and her love for him reached its peak, as if she were flying.
The plane dropped them off only in the nearest city. Gu Weiyi rented a car and drove back. Along the way, the greenery dwindled, turning to withered yellow, until dry grass and yellow sand dominated the view. It was time to get back to work. Li Wenjing leaned against the car window, the sunlight streaming in, hitting her arm. It felt like the feeling of being with him was just enough for her to savor. She was also certain that she truly loved him. Although he sometimes made her feel pain, the happiness he brought her instantly overwhelmed that pain.
"I don't even want to go back. The work is so tiring. We didn't even have water a while ago. I really don't know how we got through. Hard times keep getting harder," Li Wenjing tilted her head and looked at him. "Let me be honest with you. I don't have any lofty ideals. Unlike you people at the UN who always talk about helping others and saving the weak, I would rather others help me and give me some money. I work much harder than the black guys."
"You just don't admit that you're kind and soft-hearted, but I saw everything you did. You helped the kids you didn't know on the street, me, your roommate, and many refugees."
"That's work, not something I volunteered for. You make me sound like an angel. I'm not going to be selfless. I can't do that."
Gu Weiyi smiled and shook his head without saying anything.
Li Wenjing continued to ask him: "What? Do you have another opinion?"
"I don't dare. I'm afraid you'll tie me up and beat me."
"What are you afraid of?"
"I've always liked your authenticity and liveliness, but sometimes... you're too real and it scares me..."
"Wait! There's gravel up ahead... What's going on? I need to call work..."
Li Wenjing had just dialed the number and had not finished speaking when the car body suddenly shook, and a roar and severe pain rolled over her back. The rusty smell of blood suddenly filled her nostrils. The world was suddenly paused, and the picture turned black and white, then covered with snowflakes, and darkened little by little.
“Wen Jing——!”
In the darkness, she could hear nothing but his voice. His cry was like his embrace, softly falling on her heart. She tried desperately to open her eyes, but she couldn't. Instead, her eyes grew heavier and heavier. She gradually fell asleep, like a baby in its mother's arms.
When she woke up again, she was lying on the hospital bed, her whole body felt like it was falling apart. She subconsciously raised her hand to rub her head which was also in great pain. A cross necklace fell out from the gap between her hands, stained with black, coagulated blood.
