The man sneered and stepped forward, intending to deliver another kick.
This scene instantly ignited Lu Jia's blood. Without hesitation, he rushed forward and grabbed the man's wrist. He forcefully shoved the man aside and then stood in front of the proprietress.
"What are you doing?" Lu Jia looked at the man coldly. "What kind of skill is it to bully a woman?"
The man was clearly caught off guard by this turn of events. He paused for a moment, then tried to break free from Lu Jia's grasp. However, Lu Jia's strength exceeded his expectations, and he was unable to break free at all.
Seeing the people at the door pointing and whispering about him, the man felt his face burning, as if a million people were pointing fingers at him. His anger flared instantly, and he swung his fist at Lu Jia, trying to regain some face.
However, Lu Jia's reaction speed far exceeded his expectations. He nimbly dodged the man's attack and then slammed a punch into the man's stomach. The punch was so powerful that the man doubled over in pain, cried out, and fell to his knees.
"Apologize!" Lu Jia released his grip, his face tense. His voice was cold and firm, as if brooking no argument.
The man was in so much pain he could barely speak, but knowing he was in the wrong, he could only lower his head and say, "Yes, I'm sorry."
"Look at the landlady and apologize!" Lu Jia frowned; he wasn't satisfied with the man's mere verbal apology.
The man turned around, still kneeling, and said with his eyes lowered, "I'm sorry, I will compensate for all the damaged items in the store." His voice trembled slightly, clearly from pain and fear.
Seeing this, Lu Jia said nothing more. He knew that the man had already received his due punishment. He turned and walked towards the proprietress, preparing to leave this place of trouble.
"No need, no need!" The proprietress waved her hand and refused Lu Jia's money as she saw him approaching with it. "Thank you so much today. I don't know what I would have done without you."
Lu Jia shook his head and placed the money on the table. "One thing at a time, you can keep it."
Just as Lu Jia turned and walked to the door, she suddenly heard the landlady exclaim, "Run!"
